Ag Secretary Vilsack says U.S.
needs to address 'cumulative'
bias against Black farmers

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said Wednesday the administration will press ahead with plans to aid Black farmers for the “cumulative effect” of past discrimination by Washington, brushing aside a lawsuit by White farmers alleging discrimination because they are not eligible for a COVID-19 loan forgiveness program for disadvantaged producers. Mr. Vilsack said White farmers “did pretty well” under pandemic relief programs prior to the Biden administration’s $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan, signed into law in March. But he said “socially disadvantaged” farmers need more help due to decades of discrimination.(Snip) A group of White Midwestern farmers sued the federal government last week, alleging discrimination

Turns out Boy Barry's Pigford settlement was only the first step. Meanwhile, where's the love for black hockey players, swimmers, figure skaters, mathematicians, and chess players? Or for disadvantaged white rappers, basketball players, and muggers? They've all suffered too under Covid-19.

At what point do you cease to blame the world around you and start looking inward to resolve your troubles? They literally stole and then gave way the white farms in South Africa and Zimbabwe and the blacks sit on their rumps, looking at one another and wondering why crops don't sprout up. In the meantime, people are starving in were once areas of plenty.

If handing out government money to Black farmers based upon the color of their skin while denying all other Americans is constitutional, why couldn’t the government do that will every government program, including exempting Black folks from paying taxes as all other Americans must do by law?

Silly Secretary Sadsack....Weren't Black and minority farmers eligible for the exact same relief under previous pandemic relief programs as the White farmers? Like PPP loans, you only got them if you qualified for them or actually really had a business / farm that qualified under the loan rules. Do minority "farmers" need "special" rules to qualify as farmers or as farms? Or maybe, there just are not a lot of legitimate black and minority farmers to suck up the federal dollars in the large amounts to make liberals feel good about themselves so they need to come up with a new "class" of farmer to subsidize. Got some tomatoes growing on your patio and owe money to someone, you can qualify as a "farmer" and have 110% of you debt paid off. Pay off your Escalade, house, maybe plant some watermelons in the back yard by the new pool to seem legitimate. Such a great use of government funds. All while LEGITIMATE farmers go bust due to staggering debt due to lowered demand for some farm items due to Covid. Typical of a Government program. But Liberals sure feel good about themselves.

How much “blackness” is necessary? What about Latino or Asian farmers? What about farmers with mixed race ancestors? Is there a percentage of blackness that is required or a level of non-blackness for disqualification? Just curious...

Of course it is racist and unconstitutional. However it takes time to remedy this by taking it through the courts and the Democrat policies may stand for many years before a favorable court ruling stops it. However if just giving people money for the color of their skin is racist then how is "affirmative action" not racist? How about construction bids by corporations that give weight to minority ownership? How about different standards based on race in college admissions? Racist policies have been tolerated for many years now.

President Biden’s $1.8 trillion families plan actually costs $2.5 trillion and would shrink the economy in the long run because of escalating debt, according to projections released Wednesday by an influential budget model out of the University of Pennsylvania. The study came as Mr. Biden vowed not to add to federal deficits to get his agenda through and pointed to other analyses that are more bullish on his plans. The pricier estimate comes from a boost in projected costs for tax credits and spending on provisions like universal pre-K and free community college, according to the Penn Wharton Budget Model. Facebook was justified in banning then-President Donald Trump from its platform the day after the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol, but it needs to reassess how long the ban will remain in effect, the social network’s quasi-independent Oversight Board said Wednesday. The decision to uphold the ban is a blow to Trump's hopes to post again to Facebook or Instagram anytime soon, but it opens the door to him eventually returning to the platforms. Facebook must complete a review of the length of the suspension within six months, the board said.
