The U.S. Postal Service failed to answer lawmakers’ questions in a Wednesday briefing about its alleged spying on Americans, according to Rep. Nancy Mace, South Carolina Republican. Chief Postal Inspector Gary R. Barksdale briefed lawmakers on Wednesday about its “Internet Covert Operations Program (iCOP)” that allegedly monitored Americans’ social media posts. Mr. Barksdale could not give a date for when the program started and denied that it was even a program but said an ‘executive’ was overseeing it, according to Ms. Mace’s office.(Snip)Ms. Mace’s office said Mr. Barksdale did not know how much taxpayer money was spent on the program, could not say what legal

Comments:

Since when does the Stasi owe New Americans any explanation whatsoever? We're OK with them photographing and scanning the front and back of every letter and package they handle, on the pretext of keeping us safe from anthrax (that was thanks to Compassionate George and his "war on terror"), so monitoring people online is OK too. Maybe this partly explains why the Postal Service, with its expanded mission, is broke.

And so what? Answer with the truth, that shouldn't take much preparation. It is lies that take time to weave.

Maybe the Postal Service should focus on trying to deliver the mail on time? After the huge fiasco in late-2020, when packages took weeks and MONTHS to arrive, perhaps it's time to privatize mail delivery.

I wish they would stop spending time and effort on spying and start worrying about delivering the mails on time. I have had to void 3 checks this week because the recipient didn't get the checks I mailed out on time, or they didn't receive them at all. It seem s the only thing the postal service can deliver at 3 AM in the morning are Democrat ballots.

North Korea has reportedly finished testing “suicide” drones that can spy on and then attack the Hermit Kingdom’s enemies. The new “miniaturized unmanned drones” are capable of “precision reconnaissance of areas deep within the frontline”—ending with “pincer attacks,” meaning strikes from both flanks, sources told Daily NK. Military authorities raced through testing of the drones after dictator Kim Jong Un called their development an “important task” for the country, the report said. The despot then reportedly sent a personally signed “grateful message” to the team, saying the successful tests “establishes yet another cornerstone to promote the advancement and strength of the Korean People’s Army.”

The Biden administration moved Thursday to ban menthol cigarettes and flavored cigars, fulfilling a key goal of anti-smoking groups who say the products harm minorities while sparking a debate about government overreach and the potential creation of an underground market. Health Secretary Xavier Becerra said the Food and Drug Administration’s decision to kickstart the removal will help “our most marginalized communities” and accelerate the decrease in overall tobacco use. “Tobacco-related death and disease must become a part of America’s past. These public health measures will save lives,” he said. “Banning menthol in cigarettes and flavors in cigars will decrease the appeal of these tobacco products
