A University of Minnesota student leader is facing backlash for comments relating to demands directed towards the University of Minnesota Police Department and its police chief. In a letter sent by elected student leaders this week to the university's administration, it demanded the police chief's resignation from the department along with a list of "demands" for change. The letter also stated if these changes were not met with satisfaction, students would begin "planning direct actions." (snip) "Actively planning to thwart UMPD by generating false calls for help.."

Gee, and I thought that making a false statement to the police was something you could go to jail for. But maybe that is what they want.

The school is asking her to apologize for advocating actions that could endanger students and staff. Boy, she must be breaking under such stern treatment. If a conservative said that marriage was only between a man and a woman, he'd be suspended, adjudicated and expelled before his next class.

I thought being a student lasts only four years. These guys act like it’s a career. Like the first poster referred to; who has time to study when changing the system occupies all their time? Who going to hire these klowns if and when they “finish” school?

On a recent walk, I came across a neighborhood littered with the yard sign in this photo. It seems the provocative platitudes we’ve seen on bumper stickers for a century have now taken root in our yards. And for the same reason: To tell the world that the sign-planter holds wonderful beliefs that he’s willing to impose upon and attribute to the rest of his family. It’s surely not because the sign-planter thinks he’s persuading anyone of the rightness of his position, as if the neighbors reading the sign will say to themselves, “Gee, ‘Democracy dies in darkness’ is a great point. I’d never thought of it that way.”

CNN’s Chris Cuomo railed against the Census Bureau on his show Monday with his guest Michael Smerconish and intimated that the agency is actively helping Republicans increase their numbers in Congress. As mandated in the Constitution, the Census Bureau is tasked with tracking the nation’s population growth by state. It then appropriates the number of seats each state gets in the House of Representatives and that is directly connected to the Electoral College calculation. They stick to the numbers since they are part of the U.S. Federal Statistical System.Cuomo seems to believe there is something nefarious going on rather than straight-up demographics.
