The members of the NYPD grew so disenchanted with their jobs in 2020 that over 5,300 uniformed officers either retired or quit, an astonishing 75% increase over the year before, amounting to 15% of the total number of officers on the force. The impetus for the officers quitting seemed to be the death of George Floyd and the unrest that followed; between May 25 and June 24, 2020, a whopping 272 officers left the force in one month.2,600 officers quit and 2,746 filed for retirement, according to the New York Post. The 5,346 officers who left the force were nearly 2,300 more than left the force in 2019,

NYC, like many communist hives in USA, look to form if not force the present LEO into a personal police force, answerable to those seizing power, and not officers sworn to the Constitution. A strong arm of a crime syndicate. The same that illegals will face though they fled from it, as they seek "sanctuary" cities. The new boss, same as the old boss.

It will only get worse. No one with a sense of self-preservation will stay. As the number of officers declines, there will be mandatory OT, cancelled leave, and so on. Burnout will increase and mistakes will also increase. I'd bet a paycheck that most officers are looking for other jobs if they're more than a year from retirement. A pension does you no good if you're dead.

Why does a decent person who wants to help people and follow the law would want a crap job like being a cop in a blue city. The mayor and will not back you up but they will immediately blame you if you have to use deadly force on a (black) violent perp. The upside of this is that small towns can find some well trained LEOs willing to move to my small city in the South.

I am trying to dredge up an ounce of sympathy, but it is very hard. I am sure there are many good LEO’s in NYC, but who knows who the good ones are? Are they the ones leaving? Or is it the smart ones who see what is coming and will go to other safer cities to infiltrate their forces with their agenda? I just do not trust many people from those deep blue cities. Please do not come to my community unless you are on board with our values. We have a good thing going here and we do not want it to get all messed up.

#16, No sympathy needed. This is exactly what the Left wants... force the traditional racist police to quit and replace with a Federal police force. The plan is working perfectly. They want to completely and fundamentally change our justice system, and rid the nation of all the white conservative patriots. This is an extremely serious situation and they are not playing around. We Red-stater's will wake up one morning and realize the country has changed. New York is only the start but it will quickly spread out of control. Stay awake everyone.

Instead they herded the political opposition into camps orbthry disappeared. Isn't it the goal in the liberal cities to abolish the police completely and play mind games with criminals to defuse situations. It's what the left believes will work. This is the mind set of, 'the alligator will eat and be satisfied and leave the elite alone', wrong. Lawless goons will rule the streets and any person who wanders out will be fair game. Not to mention other social problems, such as isolation from the community and other non helpful ways to cope with what they do to protect and serve. Police need your support, prayers and for their families especially. I know because that was my world. The stress is off the charts for police families.

There’s believing your own news releases. And then there’s believing your own delusions of grandeur. Joe Biden should look at the mirror every day and see a president elected on the basis of the unpopularity of his predecessor at a time when the country was slammed by a once-in-a-century pandemic. Instead, by every account, he sees a transformative leader with a mandate to change America as rapidly and irreversibly as possible. As the news site Axios noted, Biden wants his next 100 days to be “more audacious” than his first 100, as he seeks “to re-engineer the very fundamentals of America — inequality, voting rights and government’s role
