Have the wokesters finally reached a tipping point? Leftists of multiple stripes have been making public schools horrible places, and now students are bolting. In California, that's making news. According to the Associated Press: SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — California public schools have experienced a sharp decline in enrollment this year as the pandemic forced millions into online school, according to data made public Thursday. The drop came as the state's school districts dawdled in bringing children back to the classroom, making California one of the slowest in the country to reopen schools. The California Department of Education data shows that the number of students

Great news.
Keeping children out of government brainwashing centers should be the most important job that their families have.

Dirty secret -- many of these urban school districts have "lost" tens of thousands of students (ie, children ages 4-18) in the last year. No idea where they've gone. And I guess truant officers are passe now adays.

My family is living this article. My son had 5 children in online school in the SF Bay Area, and the impact on them was so bad he quit his job and has moved out to Texas. He and his wife knew something had to be done when their youngest daughter would cry about having to get into Zoom for class. She was flunking KINDERGARTEN! I didn’t know you could flunk kindergarten. Their oldest child, a senior, used to be a straight A student (she really was on the honor roll.) She currently has 2 F’s. They consider this a lost year for their son in special Ed and will have him repeat this year at his new school. And their 11 year old who already had issues with anxiety got to the point where he became physically sick when he had to leave the house. Online school was destroying their children - they had to do something. Moving out of California was it.

#4, my two nieces are homeschooling. I have offered to cover the costs of private school if they want to do that. This is more important than anything else I'd be doing with that money, as far as I am concerned.

Public schools never provide a proper education. It's no wonder parents are pulling their kids out of that pernicious environment.

Publik skools are dade. Yet Guilford County NC managed to pass a $300M school bond issue last fall. Boggles my mind. When I ride my bicycle past the local publik skools, the parking lots are empty. All that money will find its way into somebody's pocket.

A global political realignment is underway, detaching workers from the Marxist left that ostensibly was created to serve their interests. Delusional leftists who have demonized Donald Trump for the last five years are wrong if they think installing Joe Biden/Kamala Harris in the White House will stem the political realignment that has brought millions of working-class Americans into the Republican Party. They may believe that Trump hypnotized former members of the Democrats' base into supporting more conservative and nationalist policies, but it is becoming clear that Trump recognized forces at work globally driving those who work with their hands away from the Marxist left, and brilliantly captured

We will never hear the last of these names. Eric Garner. Alton Sterling. Michael Brown. George Floyd. Rashad Brooks. And now Daunte Wright. We will never hear the last of them because there will always be more. And because certain people are invested in forcing us to hear about them. But what they demand we hear isn’t the truth. Is it a tragedy that Daunte Wright is dead? Of course it is. Should he have been shot dead on Sunday by a Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, police officer? Why, no, he shouldn’t have been.

Folks just need to chill out and understand that climate’s gonna climate, and that’s all there is to it. The sun is a very steady oscillator says Prof. Valentina Zharkova, of Northumbria University. I have followed her work with great interest since watching her presentation at the Global Warming Policy Forum in 2018. She confidently predicted a Modern Grand Solar Minimum (GSM) running from 2020 through 2053, about half as long as the previous Maunder Minimum but just as intense. Controversial at first, now even U.S. agencies have adopted

The other night, I left the TV on Turner Classic Movies and went to walk the dogs. I came back to find my usually cellphone-centric 14-year-old niece Peilin watching The Heiress, a classic 1949 anti-romantic drama with the elegant language of the Henry James source novel, Washington Square. We watched the rest of the film together, Peilin spellbound by its fundamental mystery. Does handsome suitor Morris Townsend (Montgomery Clift) truly love plain spinster Catherine Sloper (Best Actress Oscar winner Olivia de Havilland), or is he only after her fortune? I observed Peilin’s engrossment with renewed hope for the next generation of American women. It lasted till I saw Kung Fu.

The BLM website tells us that in 2013 “three radical Black organizers — Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, and Opal Tometi — created a Black-centered political will and movement building project called #BlackLivesMatter.” On the website, to this day, the organizers proudly share the inspiration for the group’s creation: “It was in response to the acquittal of Trayvon Martin’s murderer, George Zimmerman.” The critical word here is “murderer.” An all-female jury believed rightly that Zimmerman shot Martin in self-defense and acquitted him of all charges, including murder. Their judgment simply did not matter to the three women who founded BLM. In the ongoing Minneapolis trial of former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin, BLM

I think that few would deny that, in 2020, Anthony Fauci, the highest-paid federal bureaucrat in America, also managed to leverage himself into the position of the most consequential person in America. He had only to express a whim about the behavioral changes necessary to defend America against the dreaded Wuhan virus, and America bowed down. In 2021, even though he's proven to be consistently wrong, the all too powerful mainstream media still promote him as an oracle. It's doubtful that even Fauci's latest muddled statements about Texas will change that point of view.

It must be pleasant to be a liberal. Every political principle fits on a bumper sticker. All problems can be chalked up to (1) racism, (2) capitalism, (3) global warming, or (4) Donald Trump. Liberals soak in a fragrant bubble bath of their own worldview. They need never hear a conservative message, but they won't shut up themselves. Like that obnoxious guy at the town meeting, they grabbed the microphone and won't put it down. The left can't resist the impulse to abuse those on the right at every opportunity. Now that King Kong is back in action in a new blockbuster, the super-hyped Godzilla vs Kong, with a mammoth budget matching the scale of the two protagonists (some $160 to $200 million), patriots should note who the real hero of the Kong saga is. It’s not the fictional monster pitted against the rapacious, prehistoric reptile. No, it’s the man who created Kong: aviator, explorer, and film producer Merian C. Cooper. Cooper (1893-1973) was a bomber pilot in the First World War. He invented a unique artillery-spotting technique—flying close to ground level to draw enemy fire. Shot down in flames behind enemy lines, he greeted the armistice in a prison hospital.

Now that the Department of Justice and FBI are using the 1/6/21 Capitol incursion to demonize all who attended the massive rally that day, imputing “insurrection,” “white supremacy,” and “extremism” to them, massive political repression may be coming. Consider this from Politico: The Department of Homeland Security is considering monitoring the travel of domestic extremists and expanding its use of the No Fly List, law enforcement sources told POLITICO. The discussions are part of the Biden administration’s strategy of treating domestic terror as a national security threat, and not just a law enforcement problem.

Let me be honest from the start of this. I’m not religious. I’m an agnostic. That is, I cannot say with any degree of certainty whether God exists or not. That would be any God, Christian, Muslim, or take your pick. My belief is much like a coin, flipped into the air to land, improbably, on edge and stand there. Perhaps wobbling and teetering a bit, but not ready to take that leap of faith one way or the other. To me, it seems that deciding to believe that God’s there or not, has to be done without the benefit of convincing evidence for or against

Wind and solar energy are both essentially obsolete technologies. There is a reason why only the very rich or the very adventurous sail across oceans: the wind is unreliable, and at best produces relatively little energy. Nevertheless, liberals have concocted fantasies whereby all of our electricity, or perhaps our entire economy, will be powered by those fickle sources. There are a number of reasons why this will never happen, but a paper published last week by Center of the American Experiment argues that land use constraints are the most basic reason why wind and solar are inexorably destined to fail. The paper, titled Not In Our Backyard, is authored by

A journalist and CNN analyst on Friday advanced the controversial claim that an Ohio police officer responding to a knife-wielding teenager should have shot her "in the leg" and should have considered not even using his gun to address the situation. April Ryan, a reporter with theGrio, made the argument—a common one among police critics—on Friday’s edition of HBO’s Real Time With Bill Maher. The show’s panel was discussing in part the recent police-involved shooting of 16-year-old Ohio resident Ma’Khia Bryant, who was attempting to stab several other teenagers with a large butcher knife when a responding officer shot and killed her.

In that regard, she’s just another leftist politician. What’s bizarre about Kamala is her inappropriate laughter about things that ought to inspire solemnity. What makes laughter inappropriate? It’s inappropriate when you’re speaking to a crowd and you’re the only one who laughs. Of course, that can also happen to a bad comedian, but there’s no indication in the clip below that Kamala was trying to tell a joke.

n the debate over whether one should or should not get the COVID vaccination, much has been said about the “science.” However, I’m not sure any encyclopedic knowledge of “science” is required to make this health decision. Simple statistical analysis should suffice to inform one’s ultimate decision. Statistics is primarily a study of probabilities. Fortunately, as regards COVID mortality rates, these probabilities are now known. That is, COVID mortality statistics broken down by age cohorts are now “known knowables.” For example, through statistics as of April 7, the odds an American under the age of 25 would die from COVID were 1-in-106,217.
