The Washington Post's resident fact checker Glenn Kessler dug into the ancestral background of Senator Tim Scott (R-SC), who has been tapped to give the GOP response to President Biden's State of the Union address next week. Scott, who is an outspoken conservative, has written and spoke about his family's background and his ancestors' work in cotton fields and agriculture. For Kessler, Scott's placement as a Republican contender to Biden's message means that his ancestry is open for debate. [Snip] The Washington Post believes itself to be so woke that white fact checker Kessler can undermine a black man's family history for Democrat political gain.

Will Kessler be fact-checking Kamala Harris' little black girl stories about growing up. Will he be checking Barak Obama's oppressed upbringing by a bank VP in Hawaii? How about fact checking some of middle class Joe's claims. He has an awful lot of money for a public servant. Of course, nobody ever checks out the "stories" that liberals tell about their poor backgrounds and how oppressed they were by the mean rich people but only overcame that oppression with the help of whatever mentor and the government. All of their stories are the same.

As we reported Wednesday, Alan Dershowitz is working with Mike Lindell, CEO of MyPillow, as a legal advisor to him and his team in his fight against Dominion Voting Systems. Dominion had sued him for $1.3 billion for defamation. MyPillow is fighting back with a $1.6 billion lawsuit against Dominion, claiming that as “an agent of the government” (working under contract to the government to tabulate elections), Dominion is infringing on Lindell’s First Amendment rights when it tries to shut him up. “This may be one of the most critical First Amendment cases in the history of the United States,” Lindell said Monday. Lost amid all of the hubbub of the Derek Chauvin verdict on Tuesday afternoon was Republican Arizona Governor Doug Ducey announcing that he has had enough of waiting for the drooling husk who occupies the Oval Office to take action on the worsening crisis at the Mexican border. Biden’s only contributions to the situation thus far were first to put Vice President Kamala Harris in charge of it, only to have her promptly disappear. He then decided to alleviate the humanitarian crisis by ordering law enforcement to use more “inclusive language” when referring to illegal aliens. Ducey said he was issuing a Declaration of Emergency and deploying the Arizona National Guard

Makers of COVID-19 vaccines are now destroying long-term safety studies by unblinding their trials and giving the control groups the active vaccine, claiming it is “unethical” to withhold an effective vaccine In so doing, they make it virtually impossible to assess any long-term safety and effectiveness, and the true benefit versus cost It’s ironic, because vaccine mandates are being justified on the premise that the benefit to the community is more important than an individual’s risk of harm. Yet vaccine manufacturers are saying that participants in the control groups are harmed by not getting the vaccine

Kerry didn’t elaborate on the details of the order or the timing, but the move would fulfill a promise Biden made on the campaign trail to require all public companies to report their emissions and climate-related risks. Already, the Biden administration has taken a number of actions to bolster capacity at agencies such as the Treasury Department, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and the Federal Reserve to address the risks climate change poses to the financial system.

On a recent walk, I came across a neighborhood littered with the yard sign in this photo. It seems the provocative platitudes we’ve seen on bumper stickers for a century have now taken root in our yards. And for the same reason: To tell the world that the sign-planter holds wonderful beliefs that he’s willing to impose upon and attribute to the rest of his family. It’s surely not because the sign-planter thinks he’s persuading anyone of the rightness of his position, as if the neighbors reading the sign will say to themselves, “Gee, ‘Democracy dies in darkness’ is a great point. While it may seem obvious that the constitutional right to "keep and bear arms" extends beyond the home, federal courts have been debating that question for years. This week, the Supreme Court agreed to hear a case that could finally settle the issue, which the petitioners call "perhaps the single most important unresolved Second Amendment question." The case involves a New York law that requires applicants for handgun carry licenses to show "proper cause," which according to state courts means more than a "generalized desire" to "protect one's person and property."
