Derek Chauvin’s beauty queen ex-wife filed for divorce from the convicted ex-cop days after George Floyd died in his custody.Kellie May Xiong Chauvin, who was crowned Mrs. Minnesota in 2019, legally separated from Chauvin on May 28, 2020, three days after the fatal arrest, for which Chauvin was found guilty of murder Tuesday, according to the Independent. On May 30, she filed for divorce in Stillwater, Minnesota, citing “an irretrievable breakdown.” The request was granted on Feb. 2, according to the outlet.
Kellie May’s lawyer said at the time she was “devastated” by Floyd’s death, and her “utmost sympathy lies with his family, with his loved ones and with everyone else

FTA: "A settlement filed in January awarded Kellie most of the profits from their two vandalized homes as well as $704,000 in cash, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Derek was left with $420,000 in the reported deal." The New Brownshirts would hound this woman until the end of her days unless she denounced her husband. USA 2021.

Smart move to divorce him before any lawsuits are filed that could bankrupt them both. The divorce could very well be consensual on both sides.

Perhaps the couple realized that the lawsuits and legal fees would bankrupt them both and it was a business decision to end the legal form of marriage.

where is she? Nobody's business but hers and her family's! Hopefully she is far far away from Minnesota living under a different name where the press and race hustlers will not be able to find her. It was Derek Chauvin who is responsible for what happened, not his family!

Reminds me of Rush’s wife Marta who bailed on him when his addiction became public and the going got tough for a while. I thank God that he later found Catherine.

Asset preservation is probably most likely, as a few have noted.
This is their private business; no business of ours.

Based on their net worth I obviously should have married a cop.

Exactly #11. You find out who people are when it costs something to be loyal to someone. I found that out in my own family.

Honestly, I wouldn't be shocked if he told her to divorce him when all of this hit the fan -- just to protect her.
It was clear early on that he was going to be railroaded in our "legal" system, and branded a "huge racist" for the rest of his life. The only way to protect his wife was to make her leave and denounce him.
At least I hope that is what happened, or I am totally losing all faith in my gender!!!

Prior to the divorce settlement a judge had refused a request to transfer most of Chauvin's assets to Kellie.
It seems to me the divorce may have been a way to protect both assets and Kellie. I think we all can agree it's safer for her to sever ties with Chauvin and now she has few, if any, money worries..
I don't think we'll see Kellie participate in family day at the prison, but I might not either with the mob splashing pig's blood on front doors.

Thinking about this, #13 may be right. I am going to pray for this couple. I cannot imagine how it is for the family living with this every day. The “system” would have delighted themselves wiping out all the family finances. Look what happened to Roger Stone and General Flynn.
