The attorney representing former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin asked the court to declare a mistrial, citing prosecutorial misconduct and ongoing comments from public officials they feel will influence the jury's decision. Shortly after jurors began deliberations, defense attorney Eric Nelson argued that special prosecutor Jerry Blackwell's characterization of his closing argument laid the grounds for a mistrial. (snip) Cahill denied the motion for a mistrial, but Nelson tried one more time in light of recent comments by U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters. The California Democrat had joined protesters on Saturday and pressed for protests to escalate if Derek Chauvin was not found guilty on murder charges

There will be riots and looting regardless of the verdict. Someone should kick Mad Maxine's fat fanny.

Maxine Waters was well aware that her rants would automatically force this trial into the appeals process. That way, there will be no end to the riots in the near future.

Poster #2, is exactly correct. No matter the verdict the insurgents would riot. This way if a mistrial is declared the rioters have an excuse to continue rioting. Waters knew exactly what she was doing. Why doesn't the Judge have her arrested for being in contempt of court. He has said repeatedly for politicians on both sides to stay out of this

If there is any conviction the defendant will appeal. There are at least four valid arguments for reversal: 1. Failure to order a change of venue. 2. Failure to sequester the jury, aggravated by published news of payment of civil damages. 3. Waters' comments. 4. Admission of some of the state's evidence. A hung jury would be interesting.

Prosecutorial misconduct? How about Maxine Watters' misconduct? How about BLM misconduct? Can we please put the blame squarely on where it belongs?

If there was a mistrial now, there couldn't be a innocent finding, or a hung jury, so that is probably better for the officer to at least have a shot to put this behind him. If he is found guilty, the mistrial motion may be useful in the appeals. Chauvin is entirely innocent, and this whole trial is a hideous, unfair, racist travesty.

Simply failing to sequester the jury, given the venue, in a trial and an incident so wildly public is grounds for appeal.

The jury is not in agreement or this would be over. The longer they deliberate the more likely there will be a hung jury. I haven’t heard how the BLM Riot Rulers will handle that. If Chauvin is found guilty he will no doubt win on appeal. This trial was a joke. It should have been moved out of this County and the jury should have been sequestered. In no way was this a fair trial.

It wouldn't surprise me, given the trial itself, and not sequestering the jurors, that they weren't all followed to their homes and will eventually be doxxed...if I were them I'd be marketing my house and getting the hell out of Dodge...if you catch my drift...

In addition, #7, Dementia Joe stuck his nose in this and said that he not only called the family of the dead thug, he told them he was praying for a guilty verdict and would make sure they got "justice." All this AFTER the judge said politicians should dummy up about this case!!
