This is the kind of survey liberals loathe. Not that the rest of us don’t already know they’re the most miserable people on the face of the earth, of course, but when the survey is the University of Chicago’s General Social Survey, an ongoing survey of Americans conducted since 1972, which The New York Times describes as a “widely used resource” and “the scholarly gold standard for understanding social phenomena,” that’s gotta leave a mark. This isn’t some “agenda-driven” Fox News-funded survey generated for the purpose of creating news and making liberals look bad. This baby comes from the no-longer-hallowed halls of academia.

In the New York Times, David Leonhardt writes about “Irrational COVID Fears.” The subhead: “Why do so many vaccinated people remain fearful?” Oh, I don’t know. Maybe because of constant media hysteria, and the insistence by Dr. Fauci and others that vaccinated people continue to wear masks?
That isn’t where Leonhardt is going, of course. He begins with the fact that most people are terrible at objectively assessing risk. That is both true and unfortunate, but not exactly news. It does apply to covid vaccination:

Apple said it has reached an agreement with the right-wing social app Parler that could lead to its reinstatement in the company's app store. Apple kicked out Parler in January over ties to the deadly Jan. 6 siege on the U.S. Capitol. In a letter to two Republican lawmakers in Congress, Apple said it has been in “ substantial conversations ” with Parler over how the company plans to moderate content on its network. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is facing yet another investigation as his third term in office remains beset by multiple ongoing scandals.
Upon a recent referral from New York Comptroller Thomas Di Napoli, New York Attorney General Tish James - who is already investigating the governor over accusations of workplace sexual harassment and an alleged groping incident - confirmed on Monday that there is an "ongoing investigation" into Cuomo's use of state resources for his 2020 book, according to The New York Times.

The official cause of death has been released for Officer Brian Sicknick, who was repeatedly claimed by the mainstream media — and even some on the right — to have been murdered on January 6th. According to the determination, Sicknick died of natural causes, having suffered two strokes later that evening after the unrest at the Capitol had subsided.

California Democrat Maxine Waters went to Minneapolis this weekend to encourage Black Lives Matter protesters to ignore curfews and get more “confrontational” if the jury does not find Derek Chauvin, guilty of murder. She added,
As we reported yesterday, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) was in Brooklyn Center at a BLM protest. She demanded a guilty verdict from the jurors at the Chauvin trial and urged protesters to be “more confrontational,” saying people “need to know that we mean business.”
After she made her comments Saturday night, members of the National Guard who were patrolling with police in Minneapolis were shot at. Two were slightly injured in the incident — one from flying glass, and the other had superficial injuries.
Many Republicans blasted her actions, decrying that a member of Congress would behave in that manner.

Dr. Anthony Fauci opined Sunday about the surge of gun violence in the United States and described the spike in shootings as an issue of public health.
Speaking to CNN host Dana Bash on “State of the Union,” Fauci was asked to comment on whether he believes gun violence is a public health emergency.

The majority of Americans believe climate change needs to be addressed immediately, according to a CBS News poll published Sunday. Fifty-six percent of Americans said people should address the problem “right now,” while 11% said climate change should be tackled “in the next few years.”
