National Guard deployed in Minneapolis after

The National Guard was deployed in Minneapolis as hundreds of people looted and rioted into the early hours Monday after a black man was shot dead by police just 10 miles from where George Floyd died. The fatal shooting of 20-year-old Daunte Wright in Brooklyn Center came as the Twin Cities was already in a state of high alert over the trial of ex-cop Derek Chauvin charged with Floyd’s murder last May. Within hours of Wright’s 2 p.m. fatal shooting, at least 500 protesters had taken to the streets, according to the Star Tribune — many looting and trashing up to at least 20 stores, officials later revealed.

FTA: "at least 500 protesters had taken to the streets, according to the Star Tribune — many looting and trashing up to at least 20 stores," So why aren't there at least 20-30 shot, and the rest in jail? The last time I looked, even Minnesota did not have an exemption written in their laws for blacks, democrats, or rich white thugs. Oh wait, Keith Ellison is States Attorney. . .

FTA:Looting was widespread late Sunday into early Monday, not just in Brooklyn Center — a city of about 30,000 people located on the northwest border of Minneapolis — but spilling into north and south Minneapolis So people feel free to loot stores everywhere, whenever there is a police incident. Expect more ''food deserts'' throughout the city since its not safe to run a business.

The 500 protesters were already camped out there preparing for later big riots if the Chauvin verdict didn't go their way. I'm sure Daunte was billed as just another dindonuffin that the racist police executed for no reason. How did they find buildings that had not already been looted and burned out?

No way that city's jury pool can mount a fair trial for Officer Chauvin. The case should be moved to a venue where the man can get a fair jury. The "looters" used real guns and bullets as well as incendiary devices, rocks and bats on police and property. Police responded with RUBBER bullets, tear gas, and flash bangs. Sounds uneven, huh.

Do these rioters, looters, arsonists even know what they are protesting about? People hear that "the cops just killed Duante" and decide to destroy stuff. They don't know what happened. Maybe Duante just killed their mother, robbed a bank, or ran over some kids. They all immediately go to the herd mentality of the police just hunted him down and killed him for fun mode. They all get very tribal and act like a vicious pack of rabid savages who are a bunch of out of control children.

Consider two contrasting quotes on how reason and passion relate to truth in a society. The first is (or once was, anyway) quite famous amongst Americans, spoken by Founder John Adams during his defense of the British soldiers accused of murder in the Boston Massacre of 1770: Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be the dictates of our passion, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence. The second is from a figure of whom few alive could claim ignorance. As Jonah Goldberg relates in his book, Liberal Fascism:

"Exile" conjures images of banished figures like Napoleon, who languished on the island of Elba, rendered powerless by isolation. Groups of people considered troublemakers also have been exiled from their lands. Diasporas of "undesirables" like the Jews have been a constant in the history of nations whose rulers wanted to be rid of what they considered indigestible elements. Exile within one's own country by a totalitarian regime has been less noted. For such an enterprise, we may look at Vichy France, which was under the thrall and control of a fascist political system imported by Germany but facilitated by French citizens.

If George Washington is the Father of our country, then Ted Kennedy is the father of anti-America. What is anti-America? It is a deep-seated disdain for the America most of us love. Anti-America hates our history, our culture, and our success. Hatred, victimhood, and bitterness are the elements binding anti-America together. America twice afforded Ted Kennedy the opportunity to become President. His family was to American politics what the Tudors were to England. Ted was reported to be an excellent football player at Harvard.

I have a friend who is fearful of commercial airlines. At the gate, before boarding, he asks the agent the following question: "What is the captain's name?" Any criticism of my friend's lack of confidence in any qualified aviatrix is answered along these lines: "She can't drive a stick shift. I should trust her with a Jumbo Jet?"
