Poll of the week: A new Reuters/Ipsos poll finds that 55% of Republicans falsely believe Joe Biden's victory in the 2020 presidential election was the result of illegal voting or rigging. Additionally, 60% of Republicans incorrectly agree that the election was stolen from Republican Donald Trump.
These polls are the latest to indicate that Republicans mistakenly think that the 2020 election wasn't legitimate, when it clearly was.
What's the point: Republicans have been pushing legislation at the state level to make voting at least somewhat more difficult than it was for the 2020 election. This has come in the wake of polls showing many Republicans doubt the election result. It is unclear

Actor Will Smith and Director Antoine Fuqua announced Monday they are yanking the production of their slave drama “Emancipation” from Georgia over its “regressive voting laws that are designed to restrict voter access.”
“At this moment in time, the Nation is coming to terms with its history and is attempting to eliminate vestiges of institutional racism to achieve true racial justice,” Mr. Smith and Mr. Fuqua said in a joint statement.(Snip) “Emancipation” was scheduled to begin filming in Georgia on June 21, with Mr. Smith portraying the true story of Whipped Peter, a slave who emancipated himself from a Southern plantation

Amid all the talk of boycotts and corporate criticism of election bills going through the Texas Legislature, major resistance is shaping up to another top priority of Republican state lawmakers.
With the Texas Senate set to debate a bill to ban transgender girls from competing in girls’ interscholastic sports, the NCAA recently issued a warning that it is watching the legislation. NCAA policies allow transgender athletes to participate without limitation.
“The NCAA continues to closely monitor state bills that impact transgender student-athlete participation,” NCAA officials said in a statement to the Houston Chronicle. “The NCAA believes in fair and respectful student-athlete participation at all levels of sport. The association’s transgender

Inventor Jovan Pulitzer was on with attorney and professor David K. Clements this past week’s “The Professor’s Record”. [SNIP] "I’m going to give you a nugget that nobody outside of my inner circle knows this. I got offered $10 million dollars to not do this. I have no price. It can’t be done. This is about America. There isn’t enough money in America to turn us communist and to sell out America. I’ll take a bullet to the head. And, maybe that’s what’s waiting for me."

White House chief medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci on Sunday said “it’s still not OK” for people to gather in public indoors even if they’re vaccinated against COVID-19. Appearing on MSNBC’s “The Mehdi Hasan Show,” Dr. Fauci was asked whether “eating and drinking indoors in restaurants and bars” is safe now that nearly 22% of the population had been fully vaccinated. “No, it’s still not OK for the simple reason that the level of infection, the dynamics of infection in the community are still really disturbingly high,” Dr. Fauci responded. “Like just yesterday, there were close to 80,000 new infections, and we’ve been hanging

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said Monday on MSNBC’s “All In” that the Democrats would try and work with Republicans but not by “sacrificing the bold, progressive change that America demands.”
Schumer said, “The question that everyone’s asking is why is there such a dichotomy between the Republican voters, electorate, and the Republican Senators. For instance, 60% of Republicans think the ARP, the American Rescue Plan, the most comprehensive progressive piece of legislation we passed in decades, is a good thing. How many Republican Senators voted for it? Zero. Why? It’s because Trump still controls them. They’re still afraid of him.

Yesterday, news broke that somewhere around 100 companies joined a private conference call to discuss how to combat red states that dare have reasonable regulations around voting. This is, of course, all stemming from the lies surrounding Georgia’s recent election reform law (see here and here for more details on that).
The companies involved included such mainstays as Coca-Cola, United Airlines, Wal-Mart, AMC Theaters, and Aflac. Apparently, this entire “conflab” was put together by Jeffrey Sonnefeld, a Yale professor. As per our usual arrangement, this garbage starts in our ivy league schools.
Let me explain how this works. These woke activists get the leaders

George Floyd died in police custody after a corner store clerk reported he had used a fake $20 bill, a nonviolent offense so low-level that police don't usually take people to jail for it. Now, as the trial over his death continues to unfold, criminal justice reform experts and diversity specialists are hoping the case will prompt retailers—from small businesses to major chains—to reassess how they treat Black and other minority customers and how they can handle loss prevention cases more equitably.
Retailers, they point out, are on the front lines of racial justice in their own stores. "While interactions with the police

David Hogg has tapped out of the pillow fight. The gun-control activist announced over the weekend that he is quitting the progressive-pillow company that he and William LeGate announced with much fanfare in February.
Two months later, Mr. Hogg is abandoning his plan to show up MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, an outspoken supporter of former President Donald Trump.
While saying that the project was “met with immediate and overwhelming support,” he announced Saturday on Twitter that he couldn’t continue.(Snip)
Mr. Hogg cited competing demands on his time. “I soon realized that given my activism, schoolwork, and family commitments, I could not give 100%

Joe Biden handed Kamala Harris the job of "point person" for the border crisis on March 24, and for three weeks now, she's been AWOL.
She's an embarrassment to the Biden administration at this point, as New York Post columnist Miranda Devine notes, pointing to the growing severity of the crisis.
Joe, in fact, actually created the crisis, first by incentivizing child migration with a vow that no illegal child migrant, even one brimming with COVID, could ever be sent back, and bringing back catch-and-release for everyone else. Biden's also suspended construction of the border wall, which has turned into a gift to the human smuggling rackets. He's rescinded

A 'very senior' female police officer who shot dead a 20-year-old black man during a traffic stop in Minneapolis accidentally fired her gun instead of her taser during a struggle, the police chief says. Brooklyn Center Police Chief Tim Gannon on Monday described the fatal shooting of Daunte Wright as 'an accidental discharge' after his death sparked violent protests less than 10 miles from where the trial of Derek Chauvin, the white Minneapolis police officer charged with murdering George Floyd, is taking place.(Snip) The female officer could be heard shouting 'Taser!' several times in the moments before she fired her gun.

President Joe Biden's rescue pup Major will be removed from the White House to undergo additional training after a second biting incident raised more questions about the dog's behavior. The White House argues the three-year-old German Shepherd is still adjusting to his new life at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. And, to help him, he'll have a few weeks of training in the Washington D.C. area. 'Major, the Bidens' younger dog, will undergo some additional training to help him adjust to life in the White House,' Michael LaRosa, a spokesperson for first lady Jill Biden, told DailyMail.com. 'The off-site, private training will take place in the Washington, D.C. area,
