Pennsylvania agrees to remove thousands
of dead citizens from voter rolls

The Pennsylvania Department of State has agreed to remove more than 20,000 dead voters from the state’s voting rolls in a settlement reached with an election-integrity group. The state agreed to compare its voter-registration database with the Social Security Death Index, directing all county election commissioners to remove the names of dead voters. “This marks an important victory for the integrity of elections in Pennsylvania,” said J. Christian Adams, president of the Public Interest Legal Foundation, which sued the state in October.(Snip) The lawsuit argued that hundreds of these dead voters showed up with post-death voting credits in 2016 and 2018.

Comments:

We still have a ways to go when dead people are stripped of their voting rights.

Thats nice........ But until they do it on a live basis, there will be another 260,000 dead between now and the next election. More than enough to make up the difference. Voter rolls should be automatically reconciled daily with the DMV, Department of Vital Statistics and Social Security.

This should be fundamental to all voting rolls to ensure no one accidentally votes after they've died. Republicans need to focus on this item, and ensuring anyone who's moved, has been removed too. Then, work on who is actually eligible, when you become a resident of a particular state. After all, most states don't allow you to simply move there in June, and then pay in-state tuition for a State University in August or September. Usually not even by January. Most, I believe, have a 1 year period of time to wait for that privilege. So, how is anyone allowed to vote, say within 30 days of an election? How can they simply mail ballots from a list they know is not current, and up-to-date?

I don't understand why it took a lawsuit to make this happen. The government sure jumps on death reports immediately for other things, like Social Security, taxes, etc. But they seem to always balk at updating voter rolls. Ridiculous.

Nearly 19,000 unaccompanied children were nabbed jumping the border in March, Homeland Security revealed Thursday, doubling the number from February and shattering the previous record of about 11,500, set in May 2019. The children were only a fraction of the total of 172,331 illegal immigrant encounters recorded last month by Homeland Security, with about 168,000 of those nabbed by the Border Patrol. That’s the highest monthly number in 20 years. Of those, about 103,000 people were expelled under coronavirus pandemic emergency orders, but the unaccompanied children and tens of thousands more parents and children traveling as families were not able to be expelled under current policies.
