CBS plans to keep its broadcasting rights to the Masters golf tournament in Augusta, Georgia despite its recent activism against the Peach State’s new election reforms. In an article published on Friday, CBS joined civil rights groups, President Joe Biden, and other activists in urging companies such as Delta, Major League Baseball, UPS, and others to boycott the state and shame Republican lawmakers for passing a law which many of them claimed is a”racist” GOP strategy to suppress voters. CBS originally headlined the story “3 ways companies can help fight Georgia’s restrictive new voting law” but quietly changed the title to “activists are calling on big companies to challenge new voting laws.

Money talks and big money talks even louder. CBS knows that giving up The Masters to virtue signal would mean two things....another sponsor would immediately take the broadcast and the tournament would never take CBS back on board plus golf fans and the players mostly lean right and this would create a boycott CBS movement. They saw what happened to Gillette after they ran two stupid and vile commercials insulting their customers.

You don't have to watch it on CBS. The Masters has its own app where you can follow on real time.

Chris Wallace introduced this issue yesterday by calling it "the Georgia law that restricts voter access". Eye-rolling, but predictable. Why no one called him out by mentioning the Democrat Senate plan "to restrict Republican debate by eliminating the 216 year old filibuster rule", or House Bill 1, which restricts the states from their constitutional role of running their own elections" is beyond me. That he's still on Fox is inexcusable.

ROME—There is a link between AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine and very rare blood clots in the brain but the possible causes are still unknown, a senior official for the European Medicines Agency (EMA) said in an interview published on Tuesday. “In my opinion, we can now say it, it is clear that there is an association with the vaccine. However, we still do not know what causes this reaction,” Marco Cavaleri, chair of the vaccine evaluation team at the EMA, told Italian daily Il Messaggero when asked about the possible relation between the AstraZeneca shot and cases of brain blood clots.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told department employees he may restart border wall construction to plug what he called “gaps” in the current barrier. In a conversation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement employees last week Mr. Mayorkas was asked about his plans for the wall and he said that while President Biden has canceled the border emergency and halted Pentagon money flowing to the wall, “that leaves room to make decisions” on finishing some “gaps in the wall.” Mr. Mayorkas, according to notes of the ICE session reviewed by The Washington Times, said Customs and Border Protection, which oversees the wall, has submitted a plan for what it wants

Not every aspect of the onslaught of self-hate that has broken over America, warped its media, and turned most of the academy—and even apparently, most of its elementary and secondary schools—into centers of reorientation designed to convince Americans their national past is loathsome hypocrisy, is bad. Every country has a national mythos, and the larger, more complicated countries have relatively elaborate, conventionally agreed-upon versions of the raison d’être of their nationalities. In the case of the United States, there have always been some soft points in this rationale, and to a slight extent, there may be some merit in addressing them. Several Florida Democrats are challenging a report by the CBS News program “60 Minutes” that attempted to paint the state’s vaccination partnership with the Publix grocery store chain as nefarious. The program on April 4 explored the COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Florida, which has experienced a similar COVID-19 death rate to California and other states despite having much looser restrictions. In one heated exchange, a reporter pressed Gov. Ron DeSantis on the use of Publix stores to administer vaccines, claiming the fact that Publix contributed $100,000 to his political action committee before the chain was chosen could be seen as evidence of a “pay-for-play” scheme.

The French Enlightenment philosopher known to us as Voltaire once said, “Whoever can make you accept absurdity can make you commit injustice.” This was in response to the persecution and execution of Jean Calas, the last man in France to be broken on the wheel. Calas was a Protestant living in a Catholic society, so critics of the Church used his case much in the same way moderns are using George Floyd. Voltaire, like most men of the Enlightenment, had a simplistic understanding of human society. Through insouciance and critical humor, liberal thinkers dismantled the framework of society without regard to what would replace it. In the process, the modern fanatic

Harris' desk, which sits in her office in the West Wing of the White House, was put together using wood, copper and nails taken from the USS Constitution, which was commissioned under George Washington in 1794. The USS Constitution is one of the country's first frigates and is the oldest commissioned warship still afloat. It was launched in 1797 in Boston, Massachusetts, and now sits in Baltimore Harbor.
