6th Circuit Reaches Right Conclusion
on ‘Preferred Pronouns.’ Other
Courts Should Follow Suit.

Original Article

In a victory for free speech, the rule of law, and common sense, a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit has ruled that a philosophy professor could not be forced to use a transgender student’s “preferred pronouns,” and that his suit against the university for violation of his First and 14th Amendment rights could proceed. The court’s decision is the first of its kind, and establishes a needed boundary against American culture’s new, brutish sexual orthodoxy. At least within academia, one can no longer be compelled to say things one doesn’t believe.

Comments:

Great decision. But I'll bet most universities will ignore it and have to be taken to court.

The decision should have, IMO, called out the insanity of the perverse Judge they reversed.

This is the only right decision and will therefore be reversed by the Supreme Court.

Good decision in a case that should have been never needed. To most in the activist LGBTQ community it is my way or the highway. There is no viewpoint but their own. Everyone else is homophobic or transphobic.

So many of the preferred pronouns are just wrong! When used they way the LGBTQ activists want us to, they go against every rule of grammar we were taught in school. Plus it just sounds wrong.

The article states the court was upset with Shawnee State's policies. I believe the smack down was intended for the brain dead Clinton judge that throwout the case regardless of the abundance of case law in the professors favor. Glad to see just the once a court said justice for all, not Just-Us based on Clinton judge think!

"within academia, one can no longer be compelled to say things one doesn’t believe." Yeah, try that in discussions about racial differences or global warming. The other side gets hot and bothered rather quickly when the truth surfaces.

I will not go against the rules of science and grammar to make some nutcase feel better. If someone brings up pronouns with me, I will say, "If you have to ask, I'm doing something wrong."

Until very recently, it would have been hard to imagine anything more iconic of American life than Coca Cola and baseball. Today both remind me of Benito Mussolini’s corporatist – aka, fascist -- game of merging of state and corporate power. The CEOs of these operations should hang their heads in shame and fire their public-relations teams. So should the CEOs of Delta and American Airlines, Black Rock, Cisco, American Express, and American Airlines, who have promoted President Biden’s false assertions that tightening election procedures to bring them back into line -- and in accord with those of civilized Western governments elsewhere -- is racist voter suppression.

This week, traditional Jews and Christians celebrate special acts of God in human history. Yet, polling data now show that an increasing number of young people, including those from religious homes, doubt even the existence of God. Moreover, polls probing such young “religiously unaffiliated agnostics and atheists” have found that science — or at least the claims of putative spokesmen for science — have played an outsized sole in cementing disaffection with religious belief. In one, more than two-thirds of self-described atheists, and one-third of agnostics, affirm “the findings of science make the existence of God less probable.”

Radical Democrats, not content to control all three electoral elements of the federal government, are urging that two new states, Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C., be added to the Union. Legislation to make Washington, D.C. a state has already been drawn up. Who will lead the deplorables’ exodus from the bondage that the political-corporate-cultural oligarchy imposes on America? The power that the oligarchy has gathered since 2015 pales by comparison with the resentment it created thereby, and the wave of public opinion that is building against it. America’s deplorables, clingers, irredeemables, chumps, dregs, neanderthals, etc.—persecuted, increasingly prosecuted for being on the wrong side of the oligarchy—yearn for political leaders to rescue their way of life. Demand is so high because most self-proclaimed conservative leaders talk the voters’ talk, but walk the big donors’ oligarchic walk. Though not well known in the U.S., former cop Maggie Oliver is a household name in Britain, where she blew the whistle on official indifference to the so-called “grooming gangs” – that is, the Muslim rape crews that have victimized thousands of white girls in cities around England. A recent YouTube interview with Peter Whittle led me, belatedly, to her 1999 memoir, Survivors, and let me begin by saying this: however much you may know about the grooming gangs – and, in particular, about the years of shameless stonewalling by police and other authorities who were terrified of Muslim unrest – reading about it all from the point of view

There are so many true and rotten things one can say about progressive values, but I think most will agree that one of the worst things progressives do is attack boys. There’s a reason for this: If raised right, boys are hardwired for courage. We see this in a wonderful way in a video someone posted showing an unknown teen in Loudon County, Virginia (which is famous for canning Dr. Seuss and trying to dox “white supremacist” parents) politely refusing to go along with his white teacher’s insistent racism. The short video brings together a lot of newsworthy trends.

Two weeks ago, I wrote of the Department of Justice’s overreach respecting some of the hundreds of January 6 defendants. On Friday the D.C. Circuit clipped the department’s wings. I expect more such losses as time goes on and the Department must actually present evidence in contested trials. The ploy of keeping in D.C. jails without bail some of the protestors who engaged in no specific violent acts at the Capitol until their cases can be heard was very obviously designed to compel them to plea bargain so they could return home to their families and jobs, and the three-judge panel wasn’t buying it.

WASHINGTON — As President Joe Biden preaches patience but acts with urgency, his vision of the powers of the Oval Office is quickly taking shape, modeled after Democratic predecessors who dramatically expanded the reach of government to confront generational crises. In a recent meeting with historians and in private conversations with advisers, Biden looked to the examples set by Presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt and Lyndon Johnson as he aims to use the levers of executive authority to create opportunities and break down barriers. Unlike Roosevelt and Johnson, who enjoyed formidable Democratic majorities in Congress, Biden has had to operate with a no-margin-for-error edge in fiercely partisan Washington.CORRECTION*

But President Joe Biden’s $2 trillion infrastructure plan, unveiled this week, represents one of the most ambitious efforts yet to challenge the centrality of the automobile in American life, by proposing to tilt federal spending far more toward public transportation and coax more people out of
