NEW YORK - A federal appeals court on Thursday rejected New York City's effort to hold five major oil companies liable to help pay the costs of addressing harm caused by global warming.
Ruling in favor of BP Plc, Chevron Corp, ConocoPhillips, Exxon Mobil Corp and Royal Dutch Shell Plc, the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan said the regulation of greenhouse gas emissions should be addressed under federal law and international treaties.
It rejected the city's efforts to sue under state nuisance law for damages caused by the companies' "admittedly legal" production and sale of fossil fuels,

First....there is NO "harm due to global warming" that actually exists. Second, there is zero legitimate evidence that ANY human activities have anything to do with the climate, changing or not, let alone these companies.

If NYC really cared about the environment, they’d start using the criminals that are overflowing city jails to clean up the trash, bottles, cans, plastic, dirty needles, fecal matter and other disgusting debris that is EVERYWHERE in that “progressive” hell-hole.

NYC officials should be held accountable for allowing fossil fuels to be consumed in their city, and the harm they have done to their population. The oil companies only sell a product. NYC does not have to buy it.

No problem - Buyed-in is laying the groundwork to tax the bejeebers out of the oil industry (and any other source of revenue scented entities, including paychecks) to generate funds for bailing out NY's money woes, which is all they were really after any way. As is Chicago, San Fran, etc, etc. Wouldn't be surprised if oil companies kicked in for this very result. Easier to soak consumers for taxes than lawsuit settlements.

A poster on this site often asks the question, "What is the ideal temperature of the Earth, and when did it occur?" That pretty much exposes the lunacy of the climate change disciples.

And speaking of NYC and gullible warming - - the temperature here this morning - - April 2nd - - was 23 degrees - - that's 23 degrees Farenheit, not centigrade. Some snow flurries are predicted for the outlying suburbs.
I hope the judges were wearing warm gloves - - when they handed down this ruling.

New York CIty spent itself into oblivion and every scheme known to man to get OPM will be used in the near future. Next up, Kalifornia. All sane and law abiding citizens would be wise to leave both places.
We are generous to communities that suffer natural disasters... greed and stupidity? Not so much. A bailout now will raise the expectation of future bailouts.

If NYC wants to ban the use of Fossil Fuels inside the city limits, let Deblasio take a shot at it. Being ridden out of town on a rail would be the least of his problems.

#15, the taxi drivers alone would take care of the problem.
When are the demonrats going to ban supermarkets for making people obese and more likely to die of covid?
Isn’t it amazing that anyone still pays an iota of attention to a bunch of eco-fanatics when not one of their insane predictions of the last 50 years has actually come to pass?

Can't trust all that global warming. You know the warming that causes attacks on people riding the trains. All that global warming homelessness blocking the sidewalks. The global warming that burns businesses and police cars, plus the global warming drug dealers and users. Not to mention the global warming gangs, and murders. I'm sure the clueless idiots who run New York probably blame global warming for the piles of trash in front of every building as well.

This is a big battle between fossil fuel dudes and greenies...try and convince me that WE are experiencing global warming... this past winter was a nightmare of subzero weather and wind fans being frozen and broken... solar panel covered with snow and ice and not functioning...so it goes back to follow the money... the democrats are waiting for which business will make them an offer and obama will buy another house on the ocean and fly in his private plane while "his people" struggle without the stimulus checks in chicago... see how this works?

That's why Biden shut down American production of oil and energy. We go back to buying inflated foreign crude because Biden thinks it burns cleaner than the American petrol. It must be in the science of the left. Hate America First the new motto.

If there was financial damage from the oil products that needs to be compensated then the price of the oil should have been raised over the years to pay for it. Since it was not raised then the people have been buying the oil products at a reduced price. So the money to pay for the damage is already in the pockets of the people and if the government really wants that money it should take it from the people.

Global warming is a gigantic hoax to the extent it is caused by human activity. The only people who really believe otherwise are questionable scientists, clueless politicians with an agenda, and low IQ journalists. Recent CO2 atmospheric content is about 438 parts per million, or about 0.04% - Nitrogen about 79%, and Oxygen about 20%, water vapor bout 1%, with traces of so-called noble gases. The estimated average CO2 over the history of the earth is estimated to be 10 times that much. As fare "melting the ice caps", both poles have be ice-free for about 90% of that history. So the earth does warm and cool for many reasons over time, but it is naively silly to state that human activity would have anywhere near the effect of giant meteor strikes, mulitple volcano eruptions, sun spot flares, etc.
If just one of the far-out predictions made decades ago about the catastrophic effects (such as Manhattan under water by 2007 or so) had come true, the proponents would at least have an ounce of credibility - but they don't. Climate change action ultimately is "cover" for the world government people, and that's all it is.
