Ramona the Pest was her best book. Nearly fifty years later after first reading it, I still think about "turn on the dawnser. It gives off a lee light" when singing the National Anthem. RIP.

Somehow I missed these books when growing up though I was and am a voracious reader married to a retired librarian. I will look into them for my grandchildren, though. Now I have to wonder how long it will be before her books are declared to be white supremacy and canceled because she was a white woman.

The technology is sadly changing our society into thinking books are passe` Even if read on an iPad or Kindle, the stories of our childhood are being replaced with urban 'woke' fodder in attempt to rid ourselves of the culture we grew up in. Larry McMurtry also passed and we lose so much when we attempt to censor Ramona the Pest or Henry Huggins or August McRae and Call to our detriment.

It might not occur to you, because you are not a bizarre wierdo, but a lot of people really love the pandemic. Not just the little fascist gnome who changes his #science advice more often than a Wellesley girl changes her preferences during her sophomore year experimental phase, and not just the fascist pols who get off on exploiting their emergency powers to boss people around, but even some regular people. The masks, the paranoia, the constant talk about vaccines – some people love this stuff. This is their Woodstock. And they never want it to end.

A New York State whistleblower says that another wrongheaded policy has cost lives to the state’s most vulnerable, and he blames Governor Andrew Cuomo. In 2011, Jeff Monsour won a landmark federal jury trial for whistleblower retaliation after he disclosed abuses in New York state’s group homes. He told The American Conservative that he and Mike Carey, whose son died in a group home over fourteen years ago, have been warning everyone—including Gov. Cuomo—of the so-called floating policy and its deleterious effects on COVID spread in group homes. “You must immediately STOP all floating of caregivers throughout your entire mental health system. His first major scandal, forcing COVID-positive patients into the worst possible environment for the disease’s deadly spread — nursing homes — and then fudging the numbers to cover up virus deaths in those facilities, should have been more than enough for Democrats to call for his resignation.

Amy Coney Barrett was confirmed to the U.S. Supreme Court by the Senate Monday evening, filling the vacancy left by liberal Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The vote was nearly entirely along party lines: Senator Susan Collins of Maine was the only Republican to dissent, voting with all 47 members of the Democratic Caucus against the conservative Trump nominee over concerns of the proximity to the election. The final vote was 52-48. "Because this vote is occurring prior to the election, I will vote against the nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett," Collins said in a statement over the weekend.
