ST. PAUL, Minn. - A Republican Minnesota state representative is introducing legislation that would create a pathway for Minnesota counties to secede from the state and join the South Dakota. Rep. Jeremy Munson (R-Crystal Lake) introduced the bill Thursday and tweeted out an image of his vision, which depicted nearly every county west of the Twin Cities metro as part of a newly imagined South Dakota. (Tweet) "Minnesota becomes more politically polarized every year and the metro politicians have shown us that rural Minnesotans are no longer represented by St Paul. It's time to leave," read a webpage on Munson's campaign

Over half the state would finally be free of leftist domination.

The Twin Cities is SO not representative of the rest of Minnesota...... Our current governor. Tim Jung Walz was elected even though he lost 77 of Minnesota's 87 counties.... Thanks to the Twin Cities.

This has no chance. The red states which out number the blue, must organize and plan for secession. It must be done. Living under the Left’s rule is impossible. Secession is the only answer.

Oh my! What delicious memories this brings of many weekends spent hunting in Big Stone County and creeping over to the dance hall in SoDak with the dear ''bachelor farmers'' who were our neighbors. Wish I could vote for the move. Wait a minute! Does South Dakata get to vote on it?

President Joe Biden’s son Hunter tried everything to wean himself off alcohol and crack — from yoga and therapy to psychoactive drugs and the anesthetic ketamine. But in his new memoir, he credits the secretions of the Sonoran Desert toad with keeping him sober for a year. He describes how he traveled to Mexico in 2014, as his marriage was unraveling, in a desperate attempt to get his life back in order, using drug treatments that were not legal in the United States. First, he was given ibogaine, a psychedelic derived from plants at a clinic in Tijuana, which he

MINNEAPOLIS — A seventh day of testimony has begun in the Derek Chauvin murder trial, but the jurors were not present when attorneys made their arguments Tuesday about whether a witness to George Floyd's arrest should be compelled to testify. (Snip) In Tuesday's hearing out of the view of the jury, Hall appeared via video hookup and explained through his attorney that he would be exposed to a potential third-degree murder charge and other possible felony counts should he be forced to answer questions in Chauvin's trial. Rep. Alcee Hastings, D-Fla., died Tuesday after a more than two-year bout with pancreatic cancer, NBC News confirmed. Hastings, who served in the House for nearly three decades, was 84. He had also been Florida’s first Black federal trial judge, appointed to the bench in 1979 by President Jimmy Carter. DENVER — If ever there were a sign that normal life is within reach, it's that we've found time for old controversies again. The City of Denver is once again finalizing a plan to let businesses seal off their respective blocks so customers can walk from bar to bar, drink in hand. (Snip) “To be honest, I think it’s a great idea,” said Jody Bouffard, owner of Blush and Blu, an LGBTQ bar on Colfax. Michigan reported a record number of coronavirus cases on Monday to top the daily tally among U.S. states, about a month after easing restrictions when new cases showed a downward trend. It reported 11,082 cases on Monday, surpassing a previous daily peak of 10,140 hit on November 20 and bringing the total case load to 779,974. Michigan is currently the worst affected U.S. state in terms of new cases and hospitalizations per 100,000 people in the week to April 5. It is the only state to report more than 7,000 new cases on Monday. Following a slew of other states

Routine use of disinfectants to fight the coronavirus is mostly unnecessary, as the risk of transmission through touching surfaces is "low," the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Monday. In a science brief based on analysis of the latest available data, the agency said intense cleaning was needed in only a few scenarios. This news could bring an end to what some refer to as "hygiene theater," or routine deep cleaning of hotel rooms, business premises, and public transport. Such measures might appear reassuring but are costly and, it seems, of limited use. The brief said the
How Chicago's affordable housing

CHICAGO — Government-backed affordable housing in Chicago has largely been confined to majority-Black neighborhoods with high concentrations of poverty over the last two decades, a design that has perpetuated the city's long history of segregation. As the neighborhoods faced rising divestment, gun violence and food deserts, the lack of affordable housing in other parts of the city restricted many people of color from leaving. But now, using its largest pot of federal housing funding, Chicago wants to chart a corrective path by aggressively pushing for more affordable homes in high-income, well-resourced areas, which housing experts say would unlock previously unavailable opportunities

MINNEAPOLIS — Ten months after his death, George Floyd's face looks out across a city still raw from his death. The intersection where he died under the knee of a police officer. The neighborhood burned and looted over the following days. The fortified courthouse where that former police officer is on trial for murder charges in Floyd's death. From the razor wire ringing the courthouse to a smattering of activists occupying the intersection where Derek Chauvin and three officers held Floyd to the ground, this city is still reckoning with the consequences of Floyd's death. WASHINGTON — If America is dominated by car culture and the call of the open road, there is a big reason for that: Over the past 65 years, the United States has spent nearly $10 trillion in public funds on highways and roads and just one-quarter of that on subways, buses and passenger rail. But President Joe Biden’s $2 trillion infrastructure plan, unveiled this week, represents one of the most ambitious efforts yet to challenge the centrality of the automobile in American life, by proposing to tilt federal spending far more toward public transportation and coax more people out of

Navy Seabees have built Vice President Kamala Harris her own version of the Resolute desk made out of materials from historic U.S. warships. Harris' desk, which sits in her office in the West Wing of the White House, was put together using wood, copper and nails taken from the USS Constitution, which was commissioned under George Washington in 1794. The USS Constitution is one of the country's first frigates and is the oldest commissioned warship still afloat. It was launched in 1797 in Boston, Massachusetts, and now sits in Baltimore Harbor. Harris' desk has carvings of an eagle surrounded by stars from the Constitution's stern decorations.

He said: ‘Once Mr Floyd had stopped resisting and certainly once he was in distress and trying to verbalize that, that should have stopped.
