Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson signed Thursday legislation barring transgender athletes from competing in girls’ and women’s sports, an issue gaining steam in Republican-led state legislatures despite pushback from LGBTQ and business groups. The Republican governor signed SB 354, the Fairness in Women’s Sports Act, shortly after it passed both chambers by wide margins. The bill was delivered to his desk Tuesday. “I have studied the law and heard from hundreds of constituents on this issue,” Mr. Hutchinson said. “I signed the law as a fan of women’s sports from basketball to soccer and including many others in which women compete successfully. This law simply

Comments:

Mild anti-Trumper Asa Hutchinson goes where Kristi Noem feared to tread, telling the NCAA where to shove any potential boycotts and lawsuits, protecting women instead (despite many of them supporting such genderfolly).

The super red Christian areas of NW Ark got organized and bombarded the Governor’s switchboard daily the last month. I understand from a good source it was persistent pretty much all day long. We must begin to make the conservative Republicans the ones these wishy-washy officeholders fear to cross NOT the rinos.

Athletic competitions should be segregated on the fixed basis of physical sex, not on some squishy psychological construct like 'gender'.

Doomed. The courts will strike this down since it only adresses women's sports which makes it discriminatory. This is why Noem wants clarification of the SDakota bill before she will sign

The University of Oxford is considering scrapping sheet music for being 'too colonial' after staff raised concerns about the 'complicity in white supremacy' in music curriculums. Professors are set to reform their music courses to move away from the classic repertoire, which includes the likes of Beethoven and Mozart, in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement. University staff have argued that the current curriculum focuses on 'white European music from the slave period', according to The Telegraph.(Snip) It claimed that teaching musical notation had 'not shaken off its connection to its colonial past' and would be 'a slap in the face' to some students.

A teenager who keeps getting sprung by judges despite five open weapons-possession cases may finally see the inside of a state prison—he’s facing two years for felony gun possession at a sentencing scheduled for Monday in Brooklyn. The Post highlighted the “revolver door” of justice enjoyed by Raquan Wilson in an exclusive story Friday. A reputed member of the Cripps’ “Folk Nation” gang, Wilson, 19, had four open gun cases in Queens and Brooklyn when he was busted on his fifth gun possession case Sunday—and quickly sprung by a Brooklyn judge thanks to last year’s bail reform rules. Out on a total $26,500 bail,

Meet the million-dollar cop. The police chief of tiny, low-crime Southampton Village—pop. 3,307, with 30 sworn officers—makes more than NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea. That would be the top cop of New York City, pop. 8,300,000, with about 36,000 sworn officers. Chief Thomas Cummings was compensated $441,945.82 last year, according to village documents. His annual base pay was $263,829, easily topping Shea’s $239,092. The village is not exactly a hotbed of crime. It has not had a murder since 2008, and last year reported no homicides, rapes, robberies or aggravated assaults. It did have two car thefts, one burglary, and 42 non-violent
