Scenario: You have a Concealed Handgun License in Oregon. You have no criminal record. You’re an average person going about your day. Let’s say one of your parents is having health issues, so you travel across the state to help them out for a few days. You’re bringing groceries back to them. Then a cop pulls up behind you and turns his rack lights on. You have a tail light out. While running your plates the cop discovers you have a CHL and he asks if you’re carrying. You say yes, because you’re a licensed CHL holder and you’ve never had any trouble with the law. Unbeknownst to you

Unconstitutional.

I was fingerprinted once in the Army it's part of joining the military. I was never finger printed again. I will not to pay a fee to carry my handgun, be finger printed to be on record as an owner of a gun for a policeman to track me with records the liberals created. I have a right to own a gun I don't need permission or pay a fee to anyone. The left wants to create traps to make us all felons just for ownership of something they dislike. Stay out of Oregon or other blue states with stupid laws.

I believe this has already been addressed by the supreme court and found unconstitutional. I believe they found that the authority to control firearms rests with the state government and the state government only. The argument was that it would be impossible for any individual, law enforcement agency or even the courts to figure out the patchwork of state, county, township, city and village laws that would result. It would also raise seious questions of whose law is supreme. If the state issues a concealed carry permit for the entire state can a local village of fifty people pass a law nullifying the state law? If that same tiny town can nullify a state gun law can they also nullify a state tax law? Add increased penalties for different crimes? Turn jaywalking into a felony?
In what court would these charges be tried? would a regional court be required to ignore their own law and try individuals based on the rules of a different court?
Democrat run states always turn into this type of beurocratic cesspool. Reactionary legislation designed not to uplift the citizenry but to relentlessly target defined enemy groups and to make penalties for what is essentially wrongthink as punitive as possible.
The problem will rapidly emerge. The enemies list can only grow, it never shrinks. Sooner or later everybody but the political elite end up on it.

Soon only criminals will carry guns, and everyone will be a criminal. Want to control society? Make the system of law deliberately so difficult that it even trips up law abiders.

The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution specifically guarantees that Americans will have the means to put down oppressive government.
This is a perfect example of the government oppression our Founding Fathers experienced as British colonists and meant to prevent for Americans.
We might ask why this Oregon government wants to prosecute free citizens while they let criminals go free.

States like Oregon are lost to the progressives. Any conservatives who remain have chosen to accept eventual punishment.

If your CHL shows up on a routine check then it is not really concealed.

Is it something in the water in Oregon that attracts crazies? Oregon seems to have an endless supply of ultraliberal State Representatives, State Senators, and of course crazy Governor. Oregon also attracts ANTIFA members (even though they are not real according to Democrats) who feel the need to protest loot, burn, riot, and destroy things every night in Portland. The people in Oregon must also be crazy to continue to put up with it. The people will lose their police protection because police are bad. They will lose their right to protect themselves because guns are bad. I guess they are counting on the ANTIFA people to scare away anyone else who might think about coming to Oregon! Look for Washington state to follow Oregon's example.

Another reason not to apply for a carry permit.
It tells the gun confiscators right where the guns are.

Moral of the story: DO NOT apply for a permit....it is like asking for permission

#1, yes, in a sane world you are exactly right.
In the USA in 2021, with the Supine Court and evil leftists in charge in many places.....the Constitution is probably irrelevant.

#3 - California defers CCP control to the counties. Basically, if you live in one of the 30+ rural counties (Kern, Humboldt, Shasta, et al) it's a mere formality. The "good cause" challenge increases as you live closer to the coastal urban areas and if you're in Marin, San Francisco, Santa Cruz, or Santa Barbara - forget about it.
