Omaha police officer shot in the face by
'shoplifter, 21, who was stuffing a pack
of T-shirts into his backpack' at a JC
Penney—as 4-year veteran of force

A Nebraska police officer is in stable condition after a shoplifting suspect shot him in the face and head on Friday at a JC Penney department store inside an Omaha mall. Kenya Lamont Jenkins Jr., 21, was arrested after a high-speed chase and charged with attempted murder and the use of a weapon to commit a felony after he allegedly shot Officer Jeffrey Wittstruck four times when he was caught shoplifting at the Westroads Mall in Omaha.(Snip) When police arrived, Jenkins–who had allegedly given store security a fake name— was sitting in a chair in the security office and was not cooperative with police.

Comments:

Why can't a bLACK man wear a backpack in a store without being accused of shoplifting? Shame that the officer got shot; gave Kenya Jenkem a few chances too many before drawing his gun, probably because bLACK shoplifters must be extended every risky courtesy. Also, why put police officers at risk and waste their time for shoplifting cases when the courts simply set them free with barely a slap on the wrist? Let them steal; BLM.

This happened on Friday in my home town. I drove past the shopping mall as it was being cordoned off. Not sure what you are trying to say, OP. The suspect was not stopped because he had a backpack on. He was seen stuffing shirts into it that he hadn’t paid for. IOW, stealing. Police were called because it is a crime, at least in Omaha. The officer was trying to abide by all the lunatic, woke demands that the race hustlers have put in place. We thank God that this policeman will recover, but I do question what a kid driving a BMW is doing stealing t-shirts.

Black people bear extra scrutiny for wearing backpacks in stores not because that's who does the huge bulk of the shoplifting, but because, according to them, store management is racist and needs Diversity training. It's an absurdity of life in Marxist America.

Retail stores are designed for honest people. The Muslim female supervisor loves to tell the customers 'NO!' when they switch the price stickers. The customers won't argue with her. It's a blast! Internal theft is a problem. I have shown the light on more than one of 'em. Asset Protection has to have all the objective evidence lined up so the little thieves cannot 'racism.'

Maybe Kenya thought he was in San Francisco where shoplifting (stealing) less than about $950.00 in anything is OK and will not bring down the nasty police on well meaning shoplifters who have “feelings”.

Wheeler backed the Portland City Council’s decision to cut $15 million from the police budget last June, which included disbanding police units that investigate gun violence.
