Walt Disney Co. CEO Bob Chapek was questioned by shareholders about Gina Carano’s firing from “The Mandalorian,” when cruise ships would set sail again and the future of Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy at the entertainment giant’s annual shareholders meeting on Tuesday. It’s been a tumultuous first year atop Disney for Chapek, who took the reins from Bob Iger in February 2020, shortly before COVID-19 upended the entertainment landscape. And yet, it’s also been a 12-month period that saw Disney’s shares surge on the growth of its streaming offerings. Chapek noted that Disney’s stock went from $79 a year ago to above $200 this week.

Did you catch that? Disney doesn’t think of their views as either right-leaning or left-leaning, but that they are more “universal” views. So, if you disagree with their propaganda, you are the one out of step.

It didn't take long for the Wonderful World if Disney to crumble after his death. How long will it be before Cancel Culture try and possiblt succeed in killing off many Disney Classics. I was able to get a DVD from England of Sound of the South. It's a delightful film. The sound is good, the picture quality varies with phase shifts at times, but overall it was well worty buying this classic . I don't know what it was copied from, if the Brits had the old 12" laser discs, it may have been copied from that source. Just a guess.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton threatened to sue the City of Austin Wednesday over the city’s continuation of a mask mandate. Governor Abbott removed the statewide mask mandate last week and his order went into effect Wednesday. Austin Mayor Steve Adler and Travis County Judge Andy Brown are keeping a mask mandate in effect until April 15 to “avoid another surge of cases.” I assume that the mayor and county judge (county CEO, not a judicial office) are concerned that newly free-to-be maskless Texans will throw caution to the wind. The Easter holiday is coming up and we are in the Spring Break season

Tonight, Joe Biden gave his first primetime address, and I could probably spend an entire article just riffing on his appearance. The man is not well, and that was once again obvious tonight. If one ever needed a visual for what being half-dead looks like, you got that in spades from this speech. Biden stood behind his podium, often slumped over, squinting to read his teleprompter’s massive font. He’s getting worse, and it’s a sad scene. Regardless, there was also some semblance of substance to address regarding what he said. At one point, the president appeared to levy a fresh threat to re-lockdown the country if you don’t follow his rules.

Eli Lilly & Co says its combination antibody therapy is effective at treating mild to moderate cases of COVID-19. The treatment, a mixture of drugs bamlanivimab and etesevimab, was developed by Indianapolis-based Lilly and the Canadian company AbCellera. It recognizes the virus once a person is infected and attaches to it, preventing the pathogen from entering human cells, and therefore neutralizing it. In trial data released on Wednesday, Eli Lilly said the combination reduced the risk of hospitalization and death by 87 percent compared to a placebo. The results are an improvement of an earlier study of the combination, which reduced the risk of hospitalization and death by 70 percent.
