‘The End Of Conservative Books’: Amazon
Quietly Bans Books They Deem
Offensive, ‘Hate Speech’

Conservatives are sounding the alarm about an updated Amazon policy that bans books the ubiquitous billion-dollar company deems offensive or includes so-called “hate speech.”As noted by The Daily Wire, Amazon has ramped up its censorship on conservative views in recent weeks. For example, a popular documentary on U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was banned from their streaming service this past week. Before that move, the company deplatformed conservative Ryan Anderson’s book critical of gender theory, “When Harry Became Sally: Responding to the Transgender Movement.”

#1 posted exactly what I was thinking. Amazon's strategy will work, short term, but it will create a market that some other vendor will arise to fill. Unless the government gets involved, but even in the Soviet Union there were ways to get books that were outlawed.

If Amazon baked cakes, would they bake Conservative cakes? Would they be forced to bake Conservative cakes? Why is banning (ie burning) books different?
Now it makes sense to me why they named their book-reading platform after incinerators -- Kindle-Fire.

# 2 When you have guaranteed free speech , there is no such thing as " hate speech."

We know someone who sells books on Amazon and had dozens of books delisted. Many were historical Civil War books that had the term Southern or Confederacy in the title. Many were written by popular mainstream authors. They want to obliterate our history.

I read liberal books all the time and my eyes haven't fallen out yet. Probably time to take a deep breath. Is it true or fake news???

Amazon thinks they are the only pebble on the beach, but both Barnes and Noble and Books-a-Million have online ordering and B&N has the Nook, downloadable for all computers. Both also are carrying conservative books as well. Looks like my next book order is coming from one of them instead of Amazon.

I have had a dystopian political book on Amazon since 2013. They have pulled it down at least five times, each time stripping away the five star reviews. Each time, I have put it back up. We will see how long it lasts now.

The story of the confirmation hearings for Justice Clarence Thomas could be titled "BLM: Black Lies Matter" for the Left's attempt to use Anita Hill to nuke his nomination through slander and innuendo.
That failed, and the swamp critters still nearly won the rematch when Christine Squeaky Fraud slandered Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

If your elected “leaders” don't have the stomach to face down blatant censorship now, OR, if they
actually approve of such thought control, then it is up to YOU to fight this.
SO, which is more important to you: convenience in purchasing OR your Freedom?
In North Korea, Cuba, Iran, and in the former E. Germany and the USSR, certain information is/was deleted.
Like in Nazi Germany.
In Orwell’s “1984” it was the Thought Police which extirpated dangerous thought.
In America it is now Big Tech, media, and politicians who DEEM to RUN YOUR LIFE from here on out.
Obama gave us a hint of that with his “Life of Julia” cradle-to-grave character.
Amazon and others have drawn a censorious line in the sand. So sit down and shut up. Or not.
Your Call, comrade.

First to be banned will be the Bible. Because back in the Old Testament owning slaves was a normal part of life and killing animals and offering them as atonement for sin as burnt offerings to God was routine every day stuff. Now if you liked a lamb and burnt it as an offering to Good for atonement for dining you would be in jail. But abort a human baby and no problem. All day every day.

Hate speech is a pretty subjective basis for making a decision to ban books. Each of us has a different definition depending upon your life experience. What one calls offensive, another does not. Amazon has taken it upon themselves and their merry little hate speech determinators to explain it to the rest of us. This is so far removed from our understanding of free speech as it has been defined since our founding. What happened to, I do not agree with what you say, but I will defend your right to say it? This is something that was drilled into my head in high school Civics Class. It was a point of pride to understand our country did not ban speech that was unpopular unlike many oppressive countries did. We were free in this country to speak our minds and understood it set us part from the world. Now, we are being muzzled by soy boy millennials and their counterparts, rage filled feminists, who believe they are the arbiters of what is suitable language.
Censorship used to conjure up a very dark and sinister action that was soundly rejected by Americans. Now it is something that is being celebrated like every other perversion that the left now deems good and right. Democrats have abandoned every good thing that has made this country great, and they cannot embrace quickly enough anything that pushes us toward a totalitarian state. American Bolsheviks have taken over the country.

Many sports memorabilia collectors see high appreciation of their items when a famous player achieves Hall of Fame status or if they pass on.
Amazon has Rush Limbaugh's hardback books "The Way Things Ought to Be" listed for $46 and his second book "See, I Told You So" listed at $24--

This is nothing new. The major publishing companies have been rejecting conservative books since Barry Soetoro's first day in office. They are all down on revenue but what's more important than making liberal propaganda the only available choice? They will publish all of the stinking garbage that celebrities and Friends of the Kenyan dump on them because ninety five percent of publishers, editors and agents are solid Leftists. I have a nice stack of polite rejection letters to prove it.

Why would they ban Clarence Thomas documentary? It was made by PBS! As near as I can tell, Amazon isn't giving any reason why they took it (and other books) down from their website. Cannot think of any reason for banning the documentary that would even be valid in the slightest. Amazon has some explaining to do, and if they refuse, they are just asking to be taken to court.

Amazon banning books reminds me of Stalin banning books.

People were allowed to read only communist hacks like Marx, Lenin and Stalin.

In 1993 in a conservative magazine I read about Michael Fumento's The Myth Of Heterosexual AIDS. It had lots of science in it. And it contradicted the Clinton administration's much touted theory that AIDS was going to spread to heterosexuals and pretty much kill everyone even though we had been hearing that for the 5 years before Clinton and it kept not happening.
Fumento's book used scientific reasoning to shred that prediction. I tried to buy it. Nothing at any local book store. Couldn't find a way to mail order it. I placed orders at several of Atlanta's leading bookstores including the now closed down Oxford Books. Months went by. Request after request. Nothing. Finally I was told by Oxford that the distributor refused to carry the book because it "spread so much disinformation." This was censorship. Was it censored by the Clinton administration putting backroom pressure on the distributors?
Finally Amazon came along and I was able to get the book in about 2000 a full 7 years after it's release. At that time it was not controversial because all the terrible predictions of Joycelyn Elders of the Clinton administration had not come true at all though the homosexual lobby was still predicting a spread to heteros. It turned out that it was the books by the Elders supporting crowd that was the real disinformation. But they were never censored by anyone.
And now Amazon has joined in with the censorship.
Fumento is an excellent science investigative author but his career has been erratic and spurious. One of the problems is he has a very high pitched voice so the content of any interview can't be heard by the listener because they are so taken aback by his voice. He needs to practice the Theranos voice approach. (Oh, I so hope she goes to jail.) Or avoid interviews.

People used to laugh at those of us who preferred actual books vs a downloaded Kindle. I hope they are starting to see why we do. Once you have the book in your hands, they cannot edit it or ban it from the marketplace unless they do a major breach of the Bill of Rights and come to my house and snatch it outright.

#4 makes an excellent point. Amazon is presuming it can just quietly opt out of selling books that carry messages it finds offensive. But that's not the way government says bakeries and florists should be allowed to operate. Let's think about how those businesses are being treated differently.
No one orders Amazon to PRODUCE nor SELL books promoting messages it doesn't approve of.
But the standard for florists and cake decorators across our country is entirely different. They aren't just selling a product. They're forced to create it. That puts a harsh burden on those who believe they have God-given talent, and that it is wrong to use it to celebrate an event the Bible warns against. As we have seen, these business owners are happy to provide bakery products, including special occasion cakes, for everyone. It's a matter of conscience, and with thousands of bakeries and florist shops across this country, no one is in danger of being denied the wedding celebration of their dreams.

Read the book "Bonhoffer". We are reliving 1930s Germany. Bonhoffer was warning German citizens (and the Church) what Hitler was doing and people weren't listening or didn't think it was serious, so they didn't speak out or protest. We know from history what the left is doing today. So SPEAK OUT NOW! BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!

Yes, it's very telling that they named their app Kindle, as in Fahrenheit 451. They would ban and burn all books that are not politically correct and support their narratives. They are not opposed to what is offensive or hate speech. They are opposed to anything that might reveal the truth and allow people to actually know the facts and think for themselves. We are not supposed to have the facts, think for ourselves and come to our own conclusions. We are supposed to accept their narratives as reality and support their agendas.
