The Biden administration was thoroughly embarrassed and unprepared in their first diplomatic meeting with the Chinese delegation yesterday. On U.S. soil, the Chinese mocked U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan. “Many people within the United States actually have little confidence in the democracy of the United States,” top Chinese diplomat Yang Jiechi told the Biden administration, citing the Black Lives Matter movement. The Chinese brazenly violated protocol for their 2-minute openings, each extending their comments beyond the given time. Mr. Yang spoke for 16 minutes. Instead of refuting the comments outright–and turning the tables on China,

Can anyone just tell us who the hell is running our federal government right now? You literally get censored out of existence for suggesting that anyone other than Joe Biden won the election last November. Yet there is no evidence today—four months later—that Mr. Biden is actually serving as president. A weird Tron video this week appeared to show Mr. Biden—looking every bit the part of Max Headroom—interfacing with House Democrats in Congress. Digitally, of course. He droned on for a few minutes using scripted psycho-pablum, sitting alone at a table. The table was empty except for his instruction manual.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd was stripped Thursday of his nomination for 2021 Blues Rock Artist of the Year over concerns involving the renowned guitarist and his usage of Confederate imagery. The Blues Foundation said it rescinded Mr. Shepherd‘s nomination in light of “continuing revelations of representations of the Confederate flag” on his automobile, guitars and elsewhere. Mr. Shepherd, a two-time Blues Awards winner, said in a statement the decision was made because of concerns involving a replica he owns of the “General Lee” car from the “Dukes of Hazzard” TV series. The 43-year-old blues guitarist acknowledged his Dodge Charger had

Former President George W. Bush said in a new interview he’s “still disturbed” by the U.S. Capitol riot. “I can’t remember what I was doing, but… I was sick to my stomach… to see our nation’s Capitol being stormed by hostile forces,” Mr. Bush told Texas Tribune CEO Evan Smith. “And it really disturbed me to the point where I did put out a statement, and I’m still disturbed when I think about it. "It undermines rule of law and the ability to express yourself in peaceful ways in the public square,” he said. “This was an expression that was not peaceful.”

After 85 years of cheap hospital bills, moderate stock earnings and maturing “Christmas funds” (whatever that means), Hasbro now plans to bring Monopoly into the increasingly “woke” 21st century. The game-maker has decided to update its 16 Community Chest cards, which featured outdated prompts such as winning a “beauty contest,” actually receiving a “tax refund” or the now-rarely seen “bank error in your favor.”
In their place are more contemporary cards that evoke community service and social awareness. Swaps could include a reward for “shopping local all week,” rescuing a shelter pet or helping tend the community garden.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas testified to Congress this week that Border Patrol agents aren’t necessarily fans of the border wall.
The head of the agents’ union says that’s just not true. “I do not know of one individual that does not think the wall works,” said Brandon Judd, an agent who is also president of the National Border Patrol Council, representing thousands of line agents.(Snip) “The effectiveness of walls, I do not know of one Border Patrol agent that does not think walls allow us to dictate where border crossings take place,” he said. Fox News co-host Juan Williams has accused a White PBS host of disinviting him from a discussion about racism in America after learning he’s from Panama. Mr. Williams, who co-hosts “The Five,” made the comments while giving a virtual acceptance speech Tuesday during the CultureX Awards, in which he claimed he was snubbed from a PBS show addressing the George Floyd unrest last year because he’s apparently not Black enough. “Before I responded to the invitation, it was withdrawn,” he said.(Snip) The White host said he is a fan of my work on television, but my background didn’t fit with a program about

House Democrats on Thursday hailed the expected passage of two bills that would grant citizenship rights to millions of illegal immigrants already in the U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called it a sea change in the nation’s stance on immigration. “We say to the world we are making a very big difference in how we value the diversity of America,” she said at her weekly press conference at the U.S. Capitol. She was joined by Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrod Nadler, New York Democrat, who said the bills “closed the book” on tougher immigration policies of the Trump administration. “Today we begin a new chapter,”

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis wanted residents to go a day without eating meat, but instead he spurred a stampede to the steakhouses. The Democratic governor’s “MeatOut Day” proclamation encouraging Coloradans to skip saturated fats on March 20 has backfired spectacularly, feeding resistance with a “Meat In Day” that has carnivores vowing to outdo themselves in celebration of the state’s livestock industry.(Snip) At least 26 of the state’s 64 counties have issued “Meat In Day” proclamations since Mr. Polis made his declaration last month, while more than 100 restaurants and vendors are offering specials and sales on burgers, bratwurst and barbecue.

Denmark has announced plans to crack down further on disadvantaged neighbourhoods by reducing the number of “non-western” residents, scrapping the controversial term “ghetto” in its proposed legislation. In the bill–a review of existing legislation on combatting “parallel societies”–the interior ministry proposed that the share of residents of “non-western” origin in each neighbourhood be limited to a maximum of 30% within 10 years.(Snip) The four criteria are: more than 40% of residents unemployed; more than 60% of 39-50 year-olds with no upper secondary education; crime rates three times higher than the national average; residents having a gross income 55%

The Federal Communications Commission issued its largest ever fine to a pair of Texas telemarketers that made more than 1 billion robocalls falsely to sell health insurance. The fine is the largest ever issued by the government agency. John Spiller and Jakob Mears, who made the calls for their businesses Rising Eagle and JSquared Telecom, were fined $225 million for the calls where they claimed to sell insurance for companies like Aetna, Cigna, United HealthCare and Blue Cross Blue Shield after asking if listeners were interested in “affordable health insurance with benefits from a company you know?” If listeners pressed 3 to speak

The video looks like a scene from an apocalyptic movie—dozens of disheveled people shivering in the middle of a winter night as they camp out around a trash bin on fire among a street strewn with litter. But the footage isn’t a Hollywood production but a candid snapshot of Kensington Avenue in northeast Philadelphia—an area that has been likened to the infamous Skid Row section of Los Angeles. The neighborhood has previously been dubbed the 'East Coast's largest open-air drug market' by DEA officials, according to the New York Times. The new video, which was posted to YouTube

Nice work if you can get it, suckers. Good thing these are kinder and gentler days; in less enlightened times and places, criminals who pulled such stunts would be swinging from the proverbial lampposts right about now.
