Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said Thursday he would "absolutely" support former President Donald Trump if he became the GOP presidential nominee in 2024, a notable commitment following his recent blistering critiques of the former President. While McConnell maintained that the 2024 presidential election cycle would be a "wide-open race," when pressed by Fox News' Bret Baier about supporting Trump if he captured the Republican nomination, McConnell offered, "The nominee of the party? Absolutely."
Riggghhhtttttt......
Just like he’s supported him so strongly for the last 4 1/2 years.

The same kind of "support" as last time, meaning backstabbing behind the scenes every chance he gets.

You had your chances the first time. Lying once again to save his career. Kiss Biden me ring and get in both knees while doing it. Mark Levin and Trump out the big smack down on you and reminded everyone in the country what a back stabbing Loe life deep state piece of RINO trash you are. Just go away please. You had your day in the Sun. Move out and make room for someone what can actually lead and support conservatives and the Trump agenda.

McConnell had between Nov 3 until Jan 20 to investigate the stolen election, and support Trump. McConnell did not lift a finger, instead refused to listen to Trump's charges, and saying Biden was the president elect. That is not exactly what I would expect as support, but it is exactly the type of support I am going to give McConnell in the future. McConnell should be removed from Senate leader. If there is a situation where doing nothing is called for, then McConnell is your guy. But we need a leader that has a vision and acts to get it done. And more, the Senate is full of scoundrels, and does not deserve any reverence. So spare us those lectures, McConnell.

This is Mitch's nightmare scenario.
Trump injects himself into the GOP primaries to wipe out RINOs & succeeds in taking over the party thru them.
Then in 2024 wins the GOP nom goes on to win the election with an army of real MAGA Senate & House to take over the Gov't.
One of the 1st things he does is sideline Mitch & put his people in leadership.
In 2026 Mitch is forced to retire to avoid losing the primary like Mittens did in 2024 as Trump's pick goes on to keep the UT seat.
Mitch hates & fears Trump.
Thus his return would signal his fall.

McConnell is getting pretty erratic lately and that is hurting the Republican Party. Maybe he should think of retiring. McConnell as the top ranking Republican in Congress, a few days before the Georgia Senate runoff elections came out and publicly stated that the Republicans would only back stimulus payouts of $600.00 in the still pending COVID bill, while the Democrats stated that they would back $2,000.00 payouts. Everybody knows that McConnell is a multimillionaire with close family relations in China. A lot of people are hurting because of COVID and common sense will tell you that a lot of those people will vote for the political party and candidates who they believe will offer them the most in COVID stimulus money and other government aid. That’s one of the reasons that the Republicans lost both runoff elections giving the Democrats a Senate majority. That’s why the still pending 1.9 trillion COVID stimulus bill is popular today.

McConnell can say or do anything he wants on any given day. Newly elected to what is no doubt his last six year term, perfectly comfortable being in the minority, knows he will never be successfully challenged for the "leadership" job, wedded to "process" and business as usual - what does he care about polls or whether anyone believes him or not?

Hope everyone spotted Mitch's doubletalk. The critical phrase is 'if he's the GOP nominee'. Mitch is banking on that Trump won't be the nominee so he won't have to support him.
Why don't you say what you really think, Mitch. People deserve that much.
