Dozens of House Democrats are calling on President Biden to relinquish sole control over the country’s nuclear arsenal and the ability to launch a strike using those weapons.
Politico reports that the Democrats, led by Rep. Jimmy Panetta (CA) and Rep. Ted Lieu (CA), wrote a letter warning that “vesting one person” with the authority to initiate a nuclear war “entails real risks.”
“While any president would presumably consult with advisors before ordering a nuclear attack, there is no requirement to do so,” the letter explains.

These two (expletives deleted) Congresspeople have extremely low levels of knowledge about the process involved in the launching of nuclear weapons.

Read the 2 page letter.
Dems are so ignorant they think the Constitution would allow them to take the time for a Speaker of the House and an Atty Gen to weigh in as well as an official Congressional Declaration of War before any president could pull that trigger!
Read Hamilton.
When we are attacked no added steps are necessary.
The President can pull the trigger with no incumbrances.

So there are incoming missiles from China that will strike Washington D.C. in 20 minutes and the Democrats want to call a meeting on whether to strike back? Hummm. That sounds antiamerican to me.

A read of the article reveals that the author is not seeing concern with Biden in this move. FTA:
Politico notes that the Democrats are attempting to curb the president’s power in the nuclear command-control system. But is it really about taking control from Biden or making sure former President Trump can’t ever have that authority again?
The letter wording is clearly a veiled shot at Trump.
TDS. Fear of Trump. They really don’t know him. He seems to me to be a person who would be very, very prudent in deciding whether a nuclear strike was warranted, appropriate. OTH, Biden is off the rails and impulsive by nature. Loves to show how powerful he is.
Look at the names on the list in that letter. Rabid Trump-haters...

Have to really start to wonder how much the Democrats know about Biden's condition.
Also, despite this being something that makes any practical sense, are they afraid of what Kamala might do when she's elevated to POTUS?
It's not a matter of if, but when, folks, and always was part of the deal, I believe, with Biden. They are installing all of the authoritarian policies under Biden so he takes the heat, and then Kamala will simply be following what's been done.

Actually, it's part of the Green New Deal. Whoever authorizes a strike must first weigh its effect on the environment, to include multi-year studies on possible outcomes.

Traitor Joe can't be trusted in his demented, deranged state with the nuclear weapons authority.
How nice is that?
Kinda like taking away the shotgun and the sharp knives when someone goes over the hill, eh?

Maybe is just because, now that they're on top of the world---and running it!---they're afraid Braindead Joe might offhandedly blow it up.

Remember the movie, "The Bedford Incident"?
An American ship has been chasing a Russian sub in the Cold War, and has it cornered, everyone on the bridge is on edge, weapons are hot, everything is ready. One crewman expresses fear that the Captain will fire on the sub, but the Captain, to assuage his fears, says that he won't fire first but "If he fires one, I'll FIRE ONE".
The weapons officer, takes this as an order, repeats it, "Fire one, aye, sir!" and punches the launch button for the Hedghogs. BOOM! Russian sub sunk, and then immediately sonar reports that there are four nuclear tipped torpedoes coming their way. BIGGER BOOM, people melting.....fade to black.
IIRC, the Weps officer was played by the actor who played "Dano" on Hawaii Five Oh, James MacArther, I think is his name. Oddly I don't remember who played any other parts. Coming from a USN family, the movie was interesting at the time.
They are afraid that Traitor Joe will say "FIRE ONE!" at a critical moment.

Sorry, Dems. The President, as the Commander-in-Chief, is the ONLY person constitutionally authorized to make that decision. There is no "decision by committee" that can be negotiated here. If you don't like THIS Commander-in-Chief, either impeach and remove him or exercise the amendment that calls for his removal for incapacitation.
Congress does NOT have the constitutional authority to change the powers of the President on their own.

Once again ancient Roman history gives us guidance on why countries need a single head of the military. The Romans were faced with a band of marauders from Gaulle and the Senate ordered that the two propraetors (governors) of separate regions use their overwhelming force to repel them. Unfortunately both wanted to acquire all the glory of victory in battle and hated each other so much that they refused to cooperate in battle. Their separate legions were easily defeated. Some decisions are too risky and important to be fought over by competing officials of government. The Founders knew their history.

The President doesn't have to consult with anyone because he is the Commander in Chief. It is a role defined for him in the Constitution. If they didn't want him having that control, they shouldn't have voted for him!!
Just another way they are trying to water down the Constitution and make it irrelevant through precedent. Just like thinking the President has to present a budget.... (a duty of Congress, fwiw.)

With incoming modern hypersonic nuclear weapons taking just a few minutes to reach the USA, chances are there will be no time to convene a Congressional Committee for a President to have the issue debated in Congress to get an OK to retaliate, or to even find all of the top Pentagon officials or the Joint Chiefs of Staff before there is a big bang over DC. This is not aimed at Biden who with his obviously age related cognitive abilities would be unable to unscramble even the most rudimentary nuclear codes in any event, but is aimed at a scary thought in the back of the Democrats brain matter, that Trump will be reelected in 2024. This is more Democrat BS as history shows that Trump, when he was in office, is about the most unlikely of all modern Presidents to start any sort of war.

The leftist don’t want to hurt Trump - they want to protect themselves from on Biden. Remember the saying / be careful what you wish for. Well, the leftist got what they wished for and now they are scared their President, who has a short temper, may do something drastic.

Democrats don't want to risk ANY show of bravado, particularly toward the Chinese. They all have already picked out their plantations on the mainland when it all goes down, and they are ready to hand over the keys to the Nation to get there.

I don't think that I want a feeble minded old geezer having the codes either. I would certainly want the President, of sound mind like President Trump, having control of the football. Sound mind being the operative phrase, something that sleepy joe doesn't have. IMHO.
