A park named after founding father Benjamin Franklin in Washington has been renamed to honor Rosa Franklin, the state's first African American woman to serve in the state Senate. Metro Parks' Board of Commissioners in Tacoma unanimously voted to change the park's name in Franklin's honor on Monday, according to a column in The News Tribune. She served as a member of the Washington State Senate from 1993 to 2010.(Snip) According to Metro Parks board commissioner Aaron Pointer, who is black, told The News Tribune that the renaming of the parks shows the important role black Tacoma residents have played in the city's history.

Why is this notable? Discrediting the Founders as out of touch and removing them from the picture was of course one of the 45 goals declared by the communists as read into the US Congressional Record back in January 1963. Search out "The Communist Takeover Of America - 45 Declared Goals." Many things in that list have already come to pass or are hot right now. Like the man says, "Well, how did I get here?"

Wow, I want to move to Tacoma!!!
Clearly they have so few problems there that they can spend their time and tax dollars on weighty issues like this. That sounds like paradise!!!!
It will be just like New Orleans. They used to be a terrible cesspool of crime, violence, gangs, and terrible failing schools. But then they took down a few Confederate statues, and, bam, all of the city's problems disappeared!!! /sarcasm off

#1. 45 declared goals. I had no idea. Thanks for this information. It's ominous.

I thought that Tacoma was supposed to be in "the sane part of the state". So much for the theory that there IS a sane part of insane Washington state.

#9 - Tacoma is the out-of-work working class suburb of Seattle. It used to be a big paper making town. I doubt there is one working mill left running these days. Now its a mix of down-and-out slums and middle-class Seattle commuter homes. The sane part of the state is anywhere east of the Cascades, like Spokane.

do these people really think that changing the name of anything will give the citizenry a better feeling of being in that space? real people, like those of us on Lucianne.com, care little for what's in a name but rather how much it costs to maintain, etc the space. calling Fenway Park, Donkey Village would be acceptable to me, it really doesn't matter. what matters is that EVERYTHING in this country is becoming or has become a political statement. this only happens in dictatorial states because the citizenry must be constantly made aware of those "leaders" who made this all possible. "Big Brother" is a perfect example and in the Soviet Union the people referred to Josef Stalin as "Uncle Joe" thereby perpetuating the myth of a benevolent leader who loves all of his people, which in Newspeak means the opposite. occasionally I bring up the CPUSA *Communist Party of the United States) and read what they have to say, it doesn't mimic the democrat rhetoric because the democrats use the CPUSA rhetoric for their own devices. scary and very dangerous.

#11 is right. Tacoma was long thought of as the zit on the hind end of the state. The pols in Olympia made sure Ft. Lewis and McChord AFB would not go away to provide a buffer zone between them and Tacoma. And yes, the sane part is East of the Cascades although there are some red and pink counties west of the Cascades, too.

They've got to change the name of the city. The name was stolen from the Puyallup Tribe.

Yup ... that's the ticket! Take a public park named after a "somebody" and change it to the name of a "nobody". This isn't cute & adorable ---- it's insidious and frightful. It must be fought against!
Ben Franklin helped this country get formed and broken away from the shackles of the British. He was --- and still is --- world renowned as a statesman, publisher & philosophical writer and even an inventor (Franklin stove, lightning rod, bifocals and yes, a flexible catheter (!) to name just a few). He was on the U.S. half-dollar coin for years before they threw him off for JFK --- that useless sack of manure.
What did this woman accomplish other than being given a skin color by the hand of God and showing up for her job?
Makes me crazy.

I think WE need to remember that in order for commies to win... they must convince the people that they are oppressed and need change... that's not happening... oh some are in that category... but not most of US ... so Brennan can spout his claims of an insurrection coming... to justify using military force to quell the masses...BUT...the masses are not beholden to DC and the ruling elite... WE are exceptional people who can function individually and think for ourselves...WE're just starting to figure out the china virus and china's role in the deaths world wide...Get the kids back in school president _________fill in the blank...

Thank you, #11....I was thinking Spokane, didn't look up Tacoma. I haven't been to Washington state since about 1977, and without looking at a map, I don't know the cities at all well.

Why not build a brand new park and name it after Rosa and leave Ben’s park alone.

Imagine, a bLACK guy takes a park named for some stale old cracker who happened to help found this failed nation and renames it for, wait for it… a random bLACK woman with some connection to the area (she liked parks and lived nearby). How condescending is that? The Tacoma News Tribune version was so jejune and Marxist (referencing Ben Franklin, the portly kite flier and founding father) that it was not worth posting.
