The White House said on Thursday a severe winter storm engulfing Texas and nearby states was the type of extreme weather event that climate change is triggering, rejecting assertions by Texas officials that “green energy” caused widespread power outages.
The crisis in the largest U.S. oil- and gas-producing state has put Democratic President Joe Biden’s White House squarely at odds with Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who initially did not acknowledge Biden’s 2020 election win.
Abbott had ordered state officials in January to fight Biden’s push here to combat climate change by pausing new oil and gas leases, and cutting fossil fuel subsidies.
I posted one article similar to this one yesterday but in this one, I see the actual orders, the weird situation is that not one mainstream media reported about this and it's a big deal, people died!

Biden, of course, will say he had nothing to do with this. And that will be the first time he actually tells the truth. He is a totally uninvolved, clueless figurehead, and the country is being run by an unaccountable, evil bureaucracy.

Literally, liberalism kills! No joke! We need to purge out all democrats at all levels of government, as they are collectively and truly a menace to society.

This is the "Green Raw Deal" where human lives are expended intentionally "to save the planet".
Do not doubt that there is a large class of ecowhackos who want lots of humans dead because they see humans as the 'infection' of their beloved 'ecology' or their god Gaia. These are dangerous, dangerous people, not tremendously different than the people that the Germans had working on their 'final solution' or the people running the ChiCom's concentration camps right now.

We need to THROTTLE the idiot who gave this order! This cost human lives and disrupted MANY businesses, as well. Even the Internet was flaky as hell due to electric outages all around the area.

Wait a minute...the Federal order recognized that there will be times when generators would operate outside standards. ERCOT was ordered to minimize the use of Federally dispatched generators to "the times and within the parameters determined by ERCOT for reliability purposes."
I don't know where Rick Perry was, but here in TX many would have been happy for the devil to open the gates to Hades for warmth. In my native Wisconsin, none of this weather would have raised an eyebrow. What a few bucks more invested in home insulation could have done...

I have never in my lifetime seen a more disastrous occupant of the Oval Office, and so quickly out of the gate too. Texas does indeed have an energy grid problem, and it is caused by the idiot democrats pushing their green agenda. Wanna save your career Governor? Dump this mess into the nearest sinkhole and get back to using renewable sources like coal and NG.

Why am I not surprised it was the feds involvement that caused this. Not sure if Trump admin would have got involved in time, but sure would have gotten help there faster.

Am I understanding this correctly? ERCOT was told by the feds to purchase energy outside their grid rather than ramp up their own energy production? is Texas connected to the rest of the US energy grid? Is there energy available to purchase? On the flip side, how quickly could ERCOT ramp up its own energy production?
It seems the people involved were presented with two solutions, and did neither because each side had to be boss. God I hate government.

That's not the intent of the order, at least as I read it. Regardless, in the event that an order from the feds would likely result in harm to the local population, state authorities should declare that said order is to be totally and summarily disregarded. Let the chips fall where they may.

A competent investigation should bring out what actually occurred as there has to be a lot of paper there for the asking that shows every step to where the Texas energy situation got out of control when Texas turned into a temporary North Pole.

The order allows ERCOT to exceed Federal requirements for the period of the emergency. ERCOT owns this. Why were some without any power, some rolling power, and some with power? How was it determined who was to have their power turned completely off? We could have done ok if they had actually had some heat during the day, but many people had none for days. ERCOT could have winterized their generators. It was recommended after 2011 freezing weather. Why did ERCOT not winterize as recommended? Accountants are good with numbers, and so are engineers. Either one could have calculated the capacity, and a margin of safety for the Texas power grid. Why was no margin of safety included in the Texas power grid? Federal policies are subsidizing Green Energy, and Texas has been implementing energy policies that do not provide energy in critical emergencies. Do we have a bunch of leftists in Texas implementing climate change policies that do not work? I think we do, and I think they are running ERCOT, and should not resign, but should be fired.

Wait a minute. ERCOT says it's an independent system operator and is a non-profit organization. It answers to the Texas Public Utility Commission and the Texas Legislature. The Feds instructing ERCOT to stay within green standards seems to have not been seen as a trigger to tell the feds to stay in their own sandbox. If governance of ERCOT is what they say it is, then someone was asleep at the wheel or there is a pressure point we don't know about that the feds use to push the green agenda. Something in Austin sticks, as usual.

Here are some facts.
Why is Texas in this mess while Iowa is not?
"US wind energy by state: Top ten
* * * * *
Texas – installed capacity 24,899MW
Far and away the state leader of wind energy is Texas with a total installed capacity of 24,899MW, enough to power over six million homes.
The state’s largest wind farm is the Roscoe wind farm in Central Texas, which has 634 wind turbines at a capacity of 781.5MW which produce 2,174 GWh of electricity per year.
Texas’ growth in wind power in the early 2000s was due to former governor and current Secretary of Energy Rick Perry. Under his tenure, wind power surged from 116MW to over 11,000MW and $7bn was invested in a transmission scheme to connect renewable power to Texan cities."
Iowa – installed capacity 8,422MW
In a distant second place is Iowa with 8,422MW of installed capacity. The state has the largest percentage of its energy produced from wind in the US, with 37% of its electricity supply is generated from 4,637 turbines."

This is the event that needs to be used to place Biden's head firmly on the chopping block. He and his minions are just as guilty of murder as Andrew Cuomo and that fact needs to be shouted everywhere. Donald Trump uses the word "fight" and they tried to crucify him for it. A defective jackass like Biden does not get a pass simply because he has dementia and a screwed up liberal mind. He has advisors after all. He did not make the trip to Texas simply because he is afraid for his safety.

In a Powerline report, they show what percentage of "rated capacity" each class of power contributed during the power shortage. This is percentage of what the installed capacity is rated to do, has nothing to do with the overall percentage of the power systems in Texas.
Nuclear was at 92%, which is good, but I wonder why not 100%?
Coal was a 30%.......WHAT THE HECK? Coal should be able to easily put out 95-100% of installed rated capacity at any particular time. Apparently, coal plants were held at 30% of rated power, just NOT USING the remaining 70% capacity for EPA rules reasons, while people were literally dying.

Sounds like the ERCOT folks need to get some feedback from the customer base. Tar and feathers would be appropriate, or maybe stronger measures.

An Emergency Order from the Biden administration’s Department of Energy shows Texas energy grid operator ERCOT was instructed to stay within green energy standards by purchasing energy from outside the state at a higher cost, throttling power output throughout the state ahead of a catastrophic polar vortex.
