still on the radar as 2024 GOP

Utah Sen. Mitt Romney would pick up some votes if the 2024 Republican presidential primary election were held today, according a new national poll. The Politico/Morning Consult flash poll found Romney would get 4% of the vote, tying him with Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. Former President Donald Trump dwarfs all potential candidates in the survey with 53% of Republicans saying they would vote for him. Other than former Vice President Mike Pence at 12%, all other GOP hopefuls polled in the single digits. Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and Donald Trump Jr. each had 6% in the poll of 1,984 registered Republican voters conducted Feb. 14-15.

Utah's only Democrat in Congress, Rep. Ben McAdams, is conceding Monday to Republican Burgess Owens, a former NFL player, author and frequent Fox News guest making his first run for public office in a race that had been too close to call since Election Day on Nov. 3. McAdams, 45, who returned to Washington, D.C., Monday, left a voicemail with Owens and is scheduled to hold an online news conference on his concession at 3:30 p.m. Owens, 69 and the second Black Republican elected to Congress from Utah, is also in the nation's capital, meeting with other newly elected members of Congress and GOP leaders.
Beginning Friday, anyone 18 or older traveling to Utah via Salt Lake City International Airport or through Utah’s major roadways will be asked to fill out a travel declaration form asking them if they’ve been tested for COVID-19 and if they’ve recently experienced symptoms, Gov. President Biden said that Pope Francis, during their meeting Friday in Vatican City, told him that he should continue to receive communion, amid heightened scrutiny of the Catholic president's pro-abortion policies. The president, following the approximately 90-minute-long meeting, a key part of his trip to Italy for the G20, told reporters details of their discussions.
Biden said that Francis told him that he should keep receiving communion. The president said the pope blessed his rosary, and added that they discussed fighting climate change as part of his Build Back Better agenda.

South High students are still shaken by what they saw in the lunchroom Wednesday. There are multiple videos showing the moments when one girl apparently attacked another over a cafeteria table.
Another angle shows a student attacking the girl with overhand blows. In another, you can even see the knife on the table.
The other students' just watched the girl get stabbed and they tried to justify their actions later!
"Everybody was mostly shocked that she had a knife during the fight cause I don't think they realized until after," said Andre Robinson, South High student.

The Supreme Court on Friday upheld Maine’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate, declining to halt its enforcement with a 6-3 ruling. Justices Neil M. Gorsuch, Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas would have halted it.
Maine health care workers had asked the justices to block the vaccine mandate in the state, where more than 2,000 doctors, nurses and medical technicians oppose Democratic Gov. Racine County Sheriff Christopher Schmaling announced today the results of an investigation into election law problems in Racine County and Wisconsin.
“Election statute was in fact not just broken, but shattered by members of the Wisconsin Elections Commission,” Schmaling said.
Schmaling and Sgt. Michael Luell, who led the investigation, said that they determined that eight people were living at the Ridgewood Care Center who had diminished capacity and who couldn’t even recognize family members at the Ridgewood Care Center had nonetheless voted by mail-in ballots. The investigation began on the complaint of one woman who said her mother voted despite not even being able to recognize her and beginning to hallucinate.
