Utah Sen. Mitt Romney would pick up some votes if the 2024 Republican presidential primary election were held today, according a new national poll. The Politico/Morning Consult flash poll found Romney would get 4% of the vote, tying him with Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. Former President Donald Trump dwarfs all potential candidates in the survey with 53% of Republicans saying they would vote for him. Other than former Vice President Mike Pence at 12%, all other GOP hopefuls polled in the single digits. Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and Donald Trump Jr. each had 6% in the poll of 1,984 registered Republican voters conducted Feb. 14-15.

Talk about fake news. There is no way this will happen. But then again I do not consider 4% an overwhelming number.

Four percent is the best all his publicity stunts have done for him since 2012, when Candy Crowley scared him out of his pants in the second presidential debate.

I get it, it is a western press, but the headline features Romney at a measly 4% as being a strong showing but Trump Jr. at 6% with no political experience and no experience other than a talking head is 50% higher than the wimp Romney. The 4% that Romney got has no upside, everyone knows who he is so everyone's opinion is fixed. This poll only shows there are 4% of registered Republican voters that remain in the party who are old school Bush type voters, it also shows that Trump is the one in control of the party. The calls for Trump to start his own party is just plain stupid.

Dozens of shipping containers stuck at the Port of Long Beach could soon be headed to Utah by train. It's part of a solution put forward by the Inland Port Authority and Union Pacific to relieve the cargo ship bottleneck that has disrupted the country's supply chain. If all goes as planned, trains stacked with shipping containers could be coming into Utah within the next two or three days. The rails are already in place, which KSL-TV was told makes the transition relatively easy. A big part of the gridlock is supposed to make its way onto semis, but Utah's Inland Port Authority is pushing

Beginning Friday, anyone 18 or older traveling to Utah via Salt Lake City International Airport or through Utah’s major roadways will be asked to fill out a travel declaration form asking them if they’ve been tested for COVID-19 and if they’ve recently experienced symptoms, Gov. Should Utah Sen. Mitt Romney attempt another shot at the White House — but this time on the independent ticket, with former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg as his running mate? The hypothetical Romney-Bloomberg ticket would give millions and millions of independent and moderate Democratic and Republican voters stuck in the middle a solid choice for president, which doesn’t exist now between democratic-socialist Bernie Sanders and current White House occupant and Twitter-flamethrower President Donald Trump. That’s what author, Maryland business executive and former U.S. Senate candidate Neal Simon wrote in his article he shared with Lee Lonsberry on KSL NewsRadio's show Live Mic.

The U.S. has a Russia dilemma. How can it tamp down Russian aggression without engaging its military? That question will continue to play out in the halls of Congress and on the plains of eastern Ukraine. While impeachment proceedings cast a spotlight on Ukraine, Russian tanks and artillery occupy the country’s eastern flank. More than 3,000 civilians have been killed and 7,000 wounded since Russian forces invaded in 2014, according to the UN Human Rights Council. About 1.6 million people have fled, becoming refugees within their own country.

President Biden said that Pope Francis, during their meeting Friday in Vatican City, told him that he should continue to receive communion, amid heightened scrutiny of the Catholic president's pro-abortion policies. The president, following the approximately 90-minute-long meeting, a key part of his trip to Italy for the G20, told reporters details of their discussions. Biden said that Francis told him that he should keep receiving communion. The president said the pope blessed his rosary, and added that they discussed fighting climate change as part of his Build Back Better agenda. "We just talked about the fact that he was happy I'm a good Catholic," Biden said.

There’s been a major shift when it comes to the governor’s race in Virginia over the past two weeks. As we reported earlier, now the Real Clear Politics average of polls is showing Youngkin ahead of Terry McAuliffe for the first time just a few short days before the election. That’s in part due to a stunning Fox poll which shows Youngkin up over McAuliffe by eight percent. As Fox notes, that’s basically a complete reversal of the race from two weeks ago. It was 51-46% with McAuliffe up two weeks ago. Now, however, it’s Youngkin up, 53-45% among likely voters. That’s a stunning move within two weeks

The former vice president fueled speculation that he's launching a White House bid in 2024 on Thursday when he delivered a speech championing 'educational freedom' at a small conservative college in Loudoun County, Virginia. Trump remains a polarizing but dominant figure in Republican politics. A recent Morning Consult poll shows that a majority of GOP voters - 67 percent - want him to run for a second term.

ROME — The great takeaway from the coronavirus pandemic is a rejection of borders and walls, Pope Francis told the BBC on Friday morning. “Climate change and the Covid-19 pandemic have exposed our deep vulnerability and raised numerous doubts and concerns about our economic systems and the way we organize our societies,” the pope asserted in a special audio message for the launch of the COP26 Climate Conference. “The most important lesson we can take from these crises is our need to build together, so that there will no longer be any borders, barriers or political walls for us to hide behind,” he declared.

The Supreme Court on Friday upheld Maine’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate, declining to halt its enforcement with a 6-3 ruling. Justices Neil M. Gorsuch, Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas would have halted it. Maine health care workers had asked the justices to block the vaccine mandate in the state, where more than 2,000 doctors, nurses and medical technicians oppose Democratic Gov. Janet Mills’ requirement to get vaccinated by Oct. 29 or get fired. They say the mandate from Ms. Mills runs afoul of federal law because it does not provide them with a religious exemption.(Snip)Before Justice Breyer refused to block the Maine mandate, Justice Amy Coney Barrett

Racine County Sheriff Christopher Schmaling announced today the results of an investigation into election law problems in Racine County and Wisconsin. “Election statute was in fact not just broken, but shattered by members of the Wisconsin Elections Commission,” Schmaling said. Schmaling and Sgt. Michael Luell, who led the investigation, said that they determined that eight people were living at the Ridgewood Care Center who had diminished capacity and who couldn’t even recognize family members at the Ridgewood Care Center had nonetheless voted by mail-in ballots. The investigation began on the complaint of one woman who said her mother voted despite not even being able to recognize her and beginning to hallucinate.
