In a generally weak year for Super Bowl commercials, Jeep’s stood out for being particularly obnoxious and tone-deaf. Called “The Middle,” left-wing political activist and world-famous singer Bruce Springsteen narrated and starred in the ad about how the country has been divided, but now it has a bright future as the “ReUnited States of America.”
While advertisements that appeal to virtues in order to increase sales and profits can work — see Toyota’s beautiful ad about the joy in adopting a child with special needs — this one fell flat and faced mockery and opposition from many viewers. Here are the three main reasons the ad didn’t work.

All those calls for unity, finding common ground and reconciliation were indeed nauseating.
Never. Up yours.

Yes, he said he would leave the USA is Trump was re-elected. So much for coming together. This is the multi millionaire that keeps a few bees on his Freehold NJ home ( one of many ) so it qualities as a farm for a BIG tax break. The "regular guy " image is wearing thin, the cowboy hat, earring and plastic surgery are too , too funny.

The ad tried to use a fake cowboy (believe the guy is a well-known New Jersey guy) to illustrate the center of the country, where liberal/progressive democrats have a heightened disdain for what they call "flyover country", in the hopes that they will fool people that they NOW want unity.

How many liberals drive jeeps? Jeep turns off the people who do drive them while it wastes its time pandering to those who don't.

They only want to make peace when they are in power.
Any other time and they are the most violent and vile people imaginable. But... the media covers all of that up just like BLM being nominated for a PEACE prize of all the Orwellian outcomes one could imagine.

Amen, #4. I've been a Jeep Wrangler owner for over 12 years. I just emailed the Jeep Corporation and told them how much their ad sucked. I also told them I was all set to buy a new Wrangler, but now I am looking elsewhere for my new 4x4. And I have YET to see anything approaching a lib off-roading in the back country!

Now Bruce Springsteen and Jeep can be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for their promotion of peace and unity in the divided United States.

Chrysler hasn’t made a decent Jeep since Iacocca left.
If you want a quality four-wheel drive vehicle that will get you there and back and last through 200,000 mikes of rough treatment, buy a Toyota.
And don’t take any four-wheeling advice from a phony like Springsteen.

That there Bruce loves singing about the common man and woman. I'm surprised they didn't have good old Bruce asking where he could get him a hunting license.

I bought a Grand Cherokee in 2012. It spoiled me for any new car I buy from now on. I just traded it in with 183000 miles on it. Basically I traded it in because at 183,000 miles I felt major repairs were probably about to happen. Plus, stopping for gas three times a week was getting annoying. Outside of that, the vehicle was amazing. At 153,000 miles, I had the original rotors and brakes pads replaced. Not because they were bad, but just because they had 153,000 on them. I put three new set of tires during my ownership and had the oil changed every 5,000 miles, and that's it. The vehicle ran great and looked brand new inside and out. I know four other people who have bought Grand Cherokee's in 2015 to 2020. They've had nothing but problems with them. One person had some many problems with his, the dealer took it back under the Lemon laws in Maryland. As for Springsteen. He should have named his BORN IN THE USA song, BORN IN THE USSR.

Jeeps are pieces of junk so it's appropriate that a loser like this uneducated fool advocates for them.

The joke is on Jeep, which is the most overpriced, overrated, unreliable and breakdown-prone line of vehicles on planet Earth except for a couple of Russian brands. Some of the content of the ad smacks of government backing. So Jeep lost sales with this ad and it only cost them a few million dollars to do it - brilliant marketing you idiots.

The Boss's whole gunslinger facade is insulting and, of course, condescending.
But he is slingin' something so there's that.

I still can't get over that that creepy old man in the commercial was Bruce Springsteen. Not knowing that, I still found the commercial offensive. If I were thinking of buying a Jeep, I would not do so now. What were they thinking?

Springsteen is not an average Joe as he tries to portrait himself. You should see him hanging out with the elites and they do take advantage of him at the show jumping shows. He has overpaid to the tune of millions for horses that are not worth that much. He is a true hypocrite.

Can you be more tone deaf Jeep? As good as the Bill Murray ad was this was that bad. I felt the entire Superbowl imagery from commercials, to the games fluff and stuff was pandering to the left and BLM. Is this part of our deprogamming?

The worst thing about the ad was that is was boring as hell. I didn't pay much attention to the ads this year, and late in the game, some ad came on with some old guy mumbling something about something, After a couple of seconds I figured out that it was Springsteen. I had heard he was going to be in an ad. But the presentation was so dull that I quickly tuned it out and went back to the game I had playing on my phone. Had no idea it was an ad for Jeep, and an ad where the viewer has no clue what is being advertised has completely failed in its mission.

Actually, #4, the Jeep Wrangler is the most popular car of the millennials. Two of them in my family alone own them.

I remember seeing the "boss" at a small music club in Bryn Mawr,PA in the 1970's- no political comments during fantastic show. Now in 2021 he has fallen very far and low. Hypocritical shill for a corporate jeep company.
