The risk of catching coronavirus from frequently touched surfaces such as ATMs, petrol pumps and pedestrian crossings is low, according to researchers.
Scientists swabbed hundreds of supermarket door handles, post boxes and bin lids between April and June last year, during the first wave. But they only detected Covid 29 times — or eight per cent of samples.
And even when the virus was identified it was in amounts so small the researchers said the risk of infection was 'low' — estimated to be as little as one in 2,000.(Snip)This study adds to mounting evidence that aerosol droplets are the main way the virus jumps between people.

Biden’s White House press corps admit covid was fake on a hot mic.. As usual, the hypocrites admit the truth when they think no one is watching

Well, I don’t agree that the risk is low. Yesterday I watched my mail carrier pick his nose then reach into his bag, grab my mail, and place into my mailbox. Nasty.

Yes, I knew this from first principles. But, "low" does not equal zero. And remember that the path in is via mouth, nose and eyes via your hands, most likely.
But, I have a few simple safety rules, that apply any time I go anywhere outside my home.
First, do not touch your face outside the home unless you haven't touched any surfaces that you 'don't know about'. If the door was automatic, and you haven't touched anything, rub your eyes and nose as needed. But, once you open a door, start loading the cart with items.....hands off the face until you get them clean.
Second, when we are done with your business, as we reach the car, we take off our masks, put them away, and then we spray our hands until they are wet with isopropyl alcohol (70%) from a pocket pumper sprayer. Then we rub them in a washing motion until the alcohol dries. Then we know that anything that we might have picked up on our hands, including the possibility of some airborne droplet on the mask, were sterilized by the alcohol bath before we even get into the car.
We go to the gym, restaurants, home stores, hardware stores, grocery, gas station, whatever is needed and with these simple rules, we have had no problems. And if you only wash your hands after you get home - you risk bringing in something to your car or to the house. Stop it by cleaning hands outside your car, it only takes a few seconds. I set the outside of my car as my 'defensive perimeter', never entering the car without an alcohol hand cleaning. Same for my wife, and that is all that stay here.
Be safe. Use alcohol on your hands.

Of course it’s low. Maybe even non-existent. Otherwise we would all have contracted the disease simply by going grocery shopping. How many people have picked up that can of soup before you picked it up and put in your grocery cart?

I found it hilarious last Spring when banks, grocery stores, hardware stores put clear plastic wrap over their key pads. As if touching that, was better than touching the key pads.
Now when you take your mask off, don't put it in your pocket next to the thing that is the dirtiest thing you own - money.

Don't know about this..couple years ago I had a knee replacement...didn't go anywhere for three weeks...went to my local supermarket on my first solo outing...got pink eye from one of the carts I suspect...but even before that I was 'sanitizing' after getting gas...figured I wasn't about to lick airplane toilet seats like that one ditz, and I didn't want another case of anything...I think the only things more 'germy' than push cart handles are gas nozzles...

More like none. It is an airborne virus that dies I. All surfaces expect your respiratory endothelium.

I just chuckle now when I read about the virus. Yes, it is dangerous to some but so is the flu, cold or pneumonia. I sat beside a person who had it but didn't know she had it. No one else in the group got it nor the next day when we were with other people. Fauci, with your fraud, you have destroyed so many families financially and emotionally. You and the scarf dr belong in jail.

Live your lives the way we did before. Had the CCP flu happened under the prior President it would have been handled the same way. It was ignored. The presstitutes and the D party conspired to defraud the real President of a second term by focusing 24/7 on the CCP flu. Rant over.

Next to a gas pump that everybody from everywhere touches, the ATM is next. Good thing I was a germaphobe before this virus. With all the cleaning in grocery stores, produce and fruit is uncovered and touched by hundreds of shoppers.
Some years back, I was behind someone in the grocery store. A guy with his pants down and BVD's up. It was sickening. Worse yet, I just happened to get in line behind him. He reached in his pants and scratched himself. I left, sickened. Imagine how many things he touched.
BTW Know anybody that got the flu this season ?

There's a "news" channel that advises flat surfaces "are a breeding ground for the virus."
This would deserve a Nobel Prize in Biology for whoever made that discovery. A virus that can replicate outside of a cell!
"Science" has become a meaningless word.
