A former ADT employee admitted Thursday that he hacked into the video feeds of more than 200 Texas customers to spy on naked women and couples having sex inside their homes. Telesforo Aviles, 35, logged into customers’ accounts more than 9,600 times over a four-year period “in order to view their footage for sexual gratification,” he admitted in federal court.(Snip)
The creep, who worked as a home security technician before being fired last year, pleaded guilty to computer fraud and now faces up to five year in federal prison. Aviles was able to spy on his victims by routinely adding his personal

This is a big reason I don't have "Ring", "Alexa" and other of this stuff. I'm sure they get enough from our phones.

We are all conditioned to trust people, but if human history has taught us anything, it has taught us that the only power people will not abuse is that which they do not have.

And you can bet that he wasn't the only one watching......NSA, and any other hackers who cared to connect up.

That is the tip of the iceberg. An installer for a big internet company is hacking my computer.

This is why you don't have security cameras inside your house. By all means, put them outside the house, but never inside. If your TV or tablet has a camera function, put opaque tape over it. Tape over one of the lenses on your cell phone, and always place it where the uncovered lens is down. I unplugged my Alexa and tossed it in the trash the minute I read about Amazon listening to what was being said. Keep the SOBs in the dark as much as possible.

Online cameras in your home, your bedroom? What sort of idiot thinks this is any kind of a good idea, other than some sort of an exhibitionist?

If Alexa reports to Amazon what I say, she ain't got much nice to report. I consider it an easy way to voice my thoughts about them, without having to bother to write.

Good one, poster #12. I give amazon a piece of my mind periodically too, and it's because I know they can hear me.

And you don't have to be a Jeffrey Toobin to keep tape over the camera on your desktop.

I don't even feel sorry for you if you are stupid enough to put a camera in your bedroom!
(What people will do these days for convenience, or so they can watch their dog while they are at work!!!)
Reread the book 1984. Believe me you will throw Alexa in the trash, diable Siri on all devices, put tape over your computer camera, throw out any "smart" tv with a camera...I am even considering buying a flip phone when I have to replace my phone.
I was talking on my iPhone and the cancer drug that I was discussing with a friend (never typed it in anywhere) showed up in an ad on my instagram!!! Yes, I deleted instagram on my phone and computer. (I got rid of facebook long ago)

Dumped ADT a long time ago...no Ring, No Alexa, no remotely controlled refrigerators or house climate controls. If it's got a lens it gets taped over (my computers).....

is ti still voyeurism if someone does it remotely? the worst example of these camera abuses was the one incident when that scum invaded the little girls bedroom and started talking to her through the camera. give me a baseball bat for punishment for that creep.
