Thousands of National Guardsmen were forced to vacate congressional grounds on Thursday and are now taking their rest breaks outside and in nearby parking garages, after two weeks of sleepless nights protecting the nation’s capital in the wake of the violent assault on Jan. 6.
One unit, which had been resting in the Dirksen Senate Office building, was abruptly told to vacate the facility on Thursday, according to one Guardsman. The group was forced to rest in a nearby parking garage without internet reception, with just one electrical outlet, and one bathroom with two stalls for 5,000 troops, the person said. “Yesterday dozens

Now he and his vice are going to defecate all over you and the rest of the military for as long as they can. Aren't you sorry you didn't arrest them?

The Republican leadership should step forward together to decry this, get themselves over there to visit the men’s leaders and help get them assistance.

They are too busy fundraising #6. The Democrats created a problem that would take a decent person to fix. Therefore they are not capable.

The whole thing was a fraud. They didnt want millions of patriots to return to the mall in peaceable assembly for schmos fake inauguration. Bad optics. The used the patriots on jan 6 and they used the guard as followup to seal the steal.

#12, glad got such a big laugh out of it. As regards "A", they didn't have a choice. Military go where they are told. And, the fact the article lists the lack of internet, along with the bathroom situation, etc, doesn't mean it's their "biggest complaint".

“Yesterday dozens of senators and congressmen walked down our lines taking photos, shaking our hands and thanking us for our service. Within 24 hours, they had no further use for us and banished us to the corner of a parking garage. We feel incredibly betrayed,” the Guardsman said.
“There really may be an important reason for us to vacate and it just hasn’t been well communicated yet,” the second Guardsman said.
The troops are particularly concerned about being packed in tight quarters with limited bathroom access during a pandemic. At least 100 Guardsmen have tested positive for Covid-19, according to two Guardsmen. Some are quarantining in hotels.
Guard spokesperson Maj. Matt Murphy.
“As Congress is in session and increased foot traffic and business is being conducted, Capitol Police asked the troops to move their rest area,” Murphy said. “They were temporarily relocated to the Thurgood Marshall Judicial Center garage with heat and restroom facilities. We remain an agile and flexible force to provide for the safety and security of the Capitol and its surrounding areas.”
~Politico tried its best to clean this up and make it a positive article, but as much respect and love as I've had for the military and living that life for 25 years, I have no sympathy for any of the NGs who walk away from this with their eyes closed.

You were betrayed. If you think demoncrats care about the troops at all, you don't know them very well. They hate the military, and you were only there to protect them against the American people, who have just about had enough of lies and stolen elections. Why, we might just have stormed the capitol and string them all up as the traitors and crooks they are without your presence. January 6 was just a protest. They haven't seen us do an insurrection yet. After you did your duty and they no longer felt threatened, they threw you out without thought of your comfort. You took an oath to the Constitution, not to these lowlifes.

The national guard was just a prop for the democrats to use on election day. Now that they're not needed they'll get thrown under the bus just like past democrat props. Never forget that the left despises the military until they're needed to create some visual to support the leftist narrative.

Many parts of DC are war zones. Hope they all receive a Bronze Star or a Combat Action Badge, at least.

#14. I understand what you think I said. Frankly, it's a bit of 'inside baseball' Trust me no
troops were injured, and more than a few vets saw it differently.
To translate it to civilian: Trust me, it's not that bad of duty. Yes facilities are sparse, but that will be solved by leadership. A whole lot of people have had even peacetime deployments a lot worse. Relax. And to complain about no internet, is just laughable. Can you imagine how many chunks of confidential info makes it out via cell phone? Didn't we also hear that the powers that me shut down the nearby towers?
They are sleeping on a flat dry ground with a roof overhead. From the pics I saw the most disturbing thing I saw was the lack of posted guards.
You may not believe me, but I have been there. It's not all shiny buttons and flesh wounds. Even peace time has it's cost. We need you at home. building the fire, keeping everything solid..because when they come home, they WILL need a rest.
