Donald Trump wanted to go to the floor of the House to defend himself as Democrats moved forward with a second impeachment, a report revealed Wednesday – and the president is still considering pardoning himself in his last six days in office.Advisers told The New York Times they had to persuade Trump not to march over to Capitol Hill Wednesday to issue some sort of defense. They claim the president wanted to do the same thing during his first impeachment in December 2019.Instead, aides were able to convince the president to release a pre-recorded five-minute video Wednesday evening condemning last week's violence at the Capitol.

As soon as I read the headline on the "latest posts" page I knew it was the Daily Mail. I'll wager many others did as well.

No doubt Trump’s aides have been his covert enemy all along, you can bet most were recommended to him by the establishment Republicans. The man has even been unable to hold a private deliberative meeting in the White House without it and its contents being released to the liberal media, and as we can see here even the foreign media. Of course you can’t believe over 10% of what you read in the UK Daily Mail either.

I refuse to read or comment on DM articles anymore. They are not a "legitimate" news outlet, at least in my mind (what's left of it).

More fake news. Trump is in control. Remember when they asked about the "Calm before the storm?" And the reporter asked, what is the calm before the Storm Mr. President? And Trump replied, "You'll see". What did Trump just sign the other day? The Storm Act.

Pardon himself for what? Is being a hardworking, focused, honest, effective and caring leader prohibited by federal law? Based on Biden’s totally opposite behavior, such attributes might indeed be illegal for federal officials.
I would argue that a self pardon would be an admission of guilt for some still to be explained illegality. Democrats, Romney, Chaney and the RINO 10 would be incredibly gleeful if Trump resorted to a pardon. But a pardon is an implicit admission of guilt, and I am certain that being a well above average president isn’t a violation of federal criminal code.

I wish his aids had been able to dissuade him from giving the "Stop the Steal" speech Wednesday last. This speech was the biggest political blunder he made and perhaps the biggest of his life. I listened to every minute of it and there was nothing in it that incited violence. Still, I'll bet there were many supporters who urged him not to make it and they were right. The speech stepped on the efforts of some very brave Republicans challenging the results from the swing states that put the pretender Biden over the top. Now that necessary examination will never occur. Nonetheless I don't blame our President for standing up for his voters and pointing to a corrupted election.
