The University of Kentucky men’s basketball team, including the coaches, kneeled during the National Anthem before Saturday’s game at Florida, and a Kentucky sheriff is not happy about it. In a video posted to his Facebook page Sunday, Sheriff John Root, along with Jamie Mosley, who runs the Laurel County Correctional Center, burned their UK shirts in protest. In the video, which appears to have been deleted, Root said the team’s actions made him feel “kind of disgusted and outraged,” and that the Wildcats had “disrespected the American flag and our national anthem”:

I'm a Kentuckian (not a fan of UK) and this is a Big Deal. Most small town Kentuckians bleed Big Blue. If the team ticks off these people, they will also risk ticking off the state legislators who fund higher education.

I knew there was a good reason I gave up on all College sports - wokeness will soon extend all the way down to the High School level and below. Looks like I will eventually leave this world in worse shape than I found it... and I was born during WW2.

Hmmm . . . if college basketball goes the way of the NBA, it's history at my house as is the NBA. College basketball is one of the last sports that I watch. If baseball goes that way, it too will be history at my house.

To do this properly, you set up a "moment of silence" allow those who wish to take a knee for the designated cause to do so. Then play the national anthem with all people standing. If you take a knee during the anthem, you are disrespecting the country where you live and the country many have died to defend. The statement you make is that you believe the USA sucks. Not a good look.

Sadly college sports have followed the NBA and NFL into Leftism. The college football National Championship was on last night. Normally, we would have had a gathering and watched every second. I forgot all about it and when I realized it, turned it on for a few minutes late in third quarter. Ho hum.

And the people in the audience? Did they react at all? NO! Because it's THEIR kids on the team. Good on the sheriff and the jailer, but the school has already shaped those kids hearts and minds. Will only intensify as we on the Right have given our education matters over to the Left without a concern decades ago.

Somehow, a low IQ bunch of ball players and their foul-mouthed coaches do not have much meaning these days. Most of the boys will have nothing but a thug future and they took the places of real students who might have made something of themselves.

U.S. Space Command is reportedly leaving Colorado Springs for Alabama in what Gov. Jared Polis is calling a "politically motivated" move by outgoing President Trump. Polis in a statement said Trump overruled recommendations to keep Space Command in Colorado Springs, saying the president's decision was "deeply concerning." U.S. Rep. Lamborn vowed to fight the decision and said he sent a letter to President-elect Joe Biden, asking him to reverse the move.

Seattle-based Amazon.com, Inc. has asked a federal judge to deny a request to reinstate the cloud-service account for conservative social media network Parler. The company's lawyers on Tuesday claimed Parler shrugged off police violence content on its site before and after the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. The Seattle Times reported that Parler filed a lawsuit Monday against Amazon claiming a breach of contract and antitrust violation after its account was suspended. Attorneys for Amazon said the case was not about suppressing speech but about what they called Parler’s “demonstrated unwillingness” to remove content that threatens public safety. Parler claims Amazon colluded with Twitter to “kill Parler’s business."

When “All in the Family” debuted Jan. 12, 1971, on CBS, it was exactly the TV show America needed — though America didn’t realize it at the time. Norman Lear and Bud Yorkin had taped two ABC pilots of the scrip t, both starring Carroll O’Connor and Jean Stapleton, starting in 1968. But ABC was reluctant to commit; as Lear told Variety’s Army Archerd, it was “too controversial.” Lear and Yorkin took the show to CBS, which surprisingly bought it.

I don't have a problem with arresting people who break the law. I do have a huge problem with selective prosecution and enforcement. When Black Lives Matter mobs besieged Washington D.C., attacked the White House, assaulted Secret Service members, vandalized national monuments, and set a church on fire, the Attorney General had to lean hard just to get the most basic arrests and prosecutions going. (It goes without saying that none of the rioters were fired.) And the media played defense for the rioters and feigned outrage at criminalizing "protest". By September, the DOJ had managed to charge just 300 rioters for taking part in the BLM violence nationwide.
