Steven Sund, the outgoing chief of the U.S. Capitol Police (USCP), said that House and Senate security officials rejected or slow-walked multiple calls by the agency ahead of the Jan. 6 storming of the Capitol to call in the National Guard to assist.
Sund told The Washington Post(Snip) that, in the days leading up to last Wednesday’s incident where protesters and rioters breached the Capitol building and committed acts of violence, that he asked House and Senate security officials to let him request that the D.C. National Guard to be put on standby. He told the outlet that the officials denied or postponed his requests six times.

Yes, #1, years back Obama said we need a "civilian national security force" just as strong, just as well funded as our military. Think about all that implies.

It was a setup from the beginning, antifa infiltrators caused some damage and they intentionally let people walk in.

Maybe Chief Sund hasn't been paying attention to his city. That's tough. See ya, wouldn't wanna be ya.

The way I read it, Mr. Sund repeatedly asked House and Senate "security officials" for permission to request the D.C. National Guard be put on standby for January 6. If it's true he was repeatedly denied permission to do so, I don't understand why he and one other person are out of a job. If he was unable to get permission for what needed to be done, shouldn't there be a thorough investigation of anyone who played a role in keeping the National Guard at bay? It took over four hours for the NG to arrive after it was called in. Putting it on standby seems like a no-brainer, to be safe rather than sorry.
There must be more to the story.

Maybe it's because the Mayor of D.C. was evicting the National Guard from D.C. hotels in 2020? 'Ya think?

I'll repeat here what I said earlier, as this story tends to confirm a set-up:
A retired Law Enforcement administrator with extensive experience protecting federal sites was talking with me yesterday. Think about these things:
The events in question were in the city that is the SEAT of federal operations. Remember, the Secret Service was involved here, as Pence was on site. We should all know by now the capabilities of the FedGov re: intelligence-gathering from all media and social media; in addition to placing informants inside the groups involved. They HAD TO KNOW the security was inadequate, and would fail if challenged.
There is generally an Emergency Operations Center activated anytime an event of this size is planned, especially near or involving federal assets or elected officials. The EOC has real-time intelligence gathering, and “eyes” on the entire area involved. It would have ALL resources at-hand for immediate response to developments. To him, these things don’t add up.
Now, the Capital Police and the House/Senate personnel responsible have “resigned”. Did they get a nice severance package for falling on their swords and taking the blame for something more nefarious? Finally, there were “ringers” thrown into the crowd mix to make sure it got violent; that’s obvious to me. Tragically, some apparently otherwise non-violent, law-abiding people on our side got sucked into the lawbreaking. That gave a nuclear bomb of negative images and material to the totalitarians in the DC cabal who wish to “cancel” us (or kill us?).
Folks, we who oppose the leftist/socialist/communist takeover of America have got to be smarter than this. We need to watch our actions and speech, and keep a cool head. Papaw said “Don’t go off half-cocked”. From a strategic standpoint, great damage was done to our cause by the actions at the Capital on Jan 6th imo.

Of course it was a well coordinated (democrat leadership, NYT, WaPo, Old TV and new Social media, ANTIFA and assorted commies) setup. Why didn't the president and patriotic Americans see it coming and step out of the way?

Remember Nancy Pelosi as the highest ranking politician at the US Capitol was ultimately responsible for the physical security of the building. Next down the security pecking order are the politically appointed Sergeants at Arms of the Senate and the House of Representatives and then the Chief of the Capitol Police. Then at the bottom of the Capitol security pecking order are the rank and file Capitol Police Officers who bore that brunt of the mayhem was allowed to occur by their superiors by not giving them adequate reinforcements to secure the Capitol building, while all the time knowing the there was scheduled to be a massive political demonstration near the Capitol on that afternoon. Like almost all police officers across the country you can bet that a lot of the Capitol Police Officers in political terms were Trump Supporters. It appears that the criminal acts at the Capitol build were already underway as Trump was still giving his speech at the White House. There is no way in this modern day and age with all sorts of intelligence and surveillance apparatus at their disposal did federal law enforcement not know with hundreds of thousands of people protesting that there was bound to be a percentage of really extreme and stupid people who were bent on perpetrating as much havoc and mayhem as possible and try to get away as much as possible when it came to criminal acts.

The March for Freedom on August 28, 1963, where Reverend Martin Luther King delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech drew approximately 250, 000 people and had a heavy police presence. I have read that the March for Freedom on January 6, 2021 drew a crowd of over 700,00 or more people, and yet there was not a heavy police presence. There should have been all kings of intelligence prior to January 6 and on the day itself as the crowd grew and grew and passed a half a million people. Where was the crowd control? Who was monitoring the event? And had there been a heavy police presence, then some of those law enforcement professionals would have been able to spot and weed out those people who had infiltrated the crowd with the intent to cause mayhem. All kinds of professionals should have been involved in an event with a crowd as large as this one, and yet they behaved as if this was the first time an event like this had ever happened in Washington, D.C.

We have also heard from the National Guard that they offered their services to the Capitol police well in advance of the march and were turned down. The House and Senate “security officials" apparently were the ones who had to authorize their entry into the Capitol. They didn’t. So, it’s Trump’s fault?
