The White House is bracing for a worsening situation at the U.S.-Mexico border as President Biden faces criticism from both political parties over the influx of migrant children. [snip] The White House also picked first lady Jill Biden to be the public face of its family reunification task force. Using the first lady allows the White House to provide political cover to other officials who likely have future political aspirations that could be harmed by delving into such a tricky issue as immigration, chiefly Vice President Kamala Harris. She could well be the Democratic Party's 2024 presidential nominee, should Biden opt against another run.

Biden has made it clear that his number one mission as president is to undo everything the Trump administration accomplished over the last four years. His newest cancellation simply does not make sense. Biden’s administration recently cancelled Operation Talon, a Trump administration program aimed at removing convicted sex offenders living in the United States illegally. Though the program seems to be something everyone should support, it clearly isn’t. Why would anyone want sex offenders to remain in the country?

U.S. Capitol Police officers who protected the building during the events of Jan. 6 will get the Congressional Gold Medal, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced Thursday. [snip] “It’s been such a sad time for us, but as we see what is being presented, we also see the extraordinary valor of the Capitol Police who risked and gave their lives to save our Capitol, our democracy, our lives. They are martyrs for our democracy. Martyrs for our democracy, those who lost their lives,” Pelosi told reporters in Washington during a press conference.

Facebook announced on Feb. 8 that it will take down posts with claims about vaccines that health organizations or its fact-checkers deem false. “Today, we are expanding our efforts to remove false claims on Facebook and Instagram about COVID-19, COVID-19 vaccines, and vaccines in general during the pandemic,” said a post from the social media giant. “Since December, we’ve removed false claims about COVID-19 vaccines that have been debunked by public health experts.”

AFL-CIO president Richard Trumka slammed President Joe Biden during an interview that aired in part on Sunday over his executive order that canceled the Keystone XL Pipeline, which cost a lot of people their jobs. “Organized labor is crucial to the Biden coalition. But there are significant tensions among environmentalists, the president’s team addressing climate change and some parts of the labor movement,” Axios reported. “The Laborers’ International Union of North America said the Keystone decision will cost 1,000 existing union jobs and 10,000 projected construction jobs.”

CNN quietly snuck out a report this week, without posting the story to their homepage and barely covering the news on air. It suggests despite the multitude of claims since January 6th, Capitol police officer Brian Sicknick was NOT killed by a blunt force trauma. Posted on Tuesday, CNN’s new story was not shared by any of their leading personalities, reporters, or anchors. The eighth paragraph of the story claims (emphasis added): According to one law enforcement official, medical examiners did not find signs that the officer sustained any blunt force trauma, so investigators believe that early reports that he was fatally struck by a fire extinguisher are not true.

Following a memo leaked to Fox News in which Parler CEO John Matze announced to employees that he'd been terminated by the Board of Directors, Dan Bongino broadcast a livestream to "correct the record," saying "the story you're hearing, unfortunately, is not correct." Bongino, who has an ownership stake in Parler, said "I have no personal gripe against John, the CEO at all. I want to be crystal clear, but John decided to make this public, not us. We decided we were handling it like gentlemen and John decided to… put out this memo that was made public via press reports."

Four House Republicans want to see all official documents from President Joe Biden’s White House and one of his cabinet-level transition teams on the firing of the National Labor Relations Board’s (NLRB) two top lawyers. Biden fired NLRB General Counsel Peter Robb near the end of his first day in the Oval Office, then fired Robb’s acting successor, Deputy General Counsel Alice Stock. The General Counsel has a central role in managing cases the NLRB accepts and how it decides them. The position requires Senate confirmation for a four-year term. Robb’s term would have concluded in November 2021.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has spoken at length about her experience during the Capitol Hill riot on Jan. 6. From her live Instagram videos, it has seemed like she was on the front line, facing down Trump supporting rioters in the halls outside her office. But it turns out, Ocasio-Cortez wasn't in the Capitol at the time of the assault on Congress, she was in her office another building entirely.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday that House Republicans pose a threat to Democrats, and she pledged additional federal money to boost security in the Capitol. Pelosi said Congress must pass a supplemental spending bill to provide funds “for security for members, when the enemy is within the House of Representatives of a threat that members are concerned about, in addition to what is happening outside.” Pelosi and Democrats fear Republican members of Congress carrying guns.
Comments:
Not to worry. Biden will fly over some pallets of cash in the dead of night to appease them.
