Representative Dan Crenshaw (R., Texas) on Thursday criticized fellow Republicans for “lying to millions” of people about the significance of Wednesday’s electoral vote count, which was delayed for hours after Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol during the proceedings. In an appearance on Fox News, Crenshaw said that while he disagreed with Senators Ted Cruz (R., Texas) and Josh Hawley (R., Mo.) “in a fundamental way about the constitutionality of this process … and the ability of Congress to overturn any electoral votes,” period, that the pair were not to blame for the rioting that erupted on Wednesday.

I never heard any commentator or Republican in congress talk about fighting other than through the legal means available. None of them said, or implied, we should take to the streets in a violent way. So, shame on Crenshaw for lying about them. Unless, of course, he simply thinks we're so stupid we couldn't understand the plain meaning of what was being said.

There are already laws at the State level to manage the election process and they were openly violated with no consequences. This is just more pacifying lip service and not a solution. The plain truth is that the Democrats committed massive voter fraud and got away with it. Stop with the bs.

I no longer care what most Republicans have to say. They slow-walked Trump agenda (which just happened to be what they professed to support for decades), stabbed him in the back at every turn, and stood back and let the Democrats steal the election because they hated Trump. They betrayed the very people who believed and supported them for all these years. In their arrogance, they thought the base wouldn't notice their perfidy. Let's see how that works out for them.

I guess everybody is entitled to their own opinion. I agree with Dan Crenshaw that anyone suggesting that Congress could overturn the electorate is misleading shamefully. I would vote for Dan for president tomorrow because I think he has more integrity than anyone else in Congress. You people slandering him are not people I want on my team. If this is what Republicans are now then I guess there is no place for me in America. Nonetheless, I will go down fighting!

It’s almost our favorite day of the year: the beginning of Daylight Savings Time, when we can fast-forward our clocks, stop the winter darkness that descends by mid-afternoon, and crawl out of our stuffy homes after dinner into the evening light. Amid Biden’s “dark winter” of COVID hell, the act of “springing forward” out of Standard Time is especially welcomed this year. That’s why a glorious piece of legislation popping up in the Senate is a bright spot this week — not only because it’s bipartisan, but also because it would literally grant daylight to weary Americans.

February 27, 2008, was, by recollection, a gloomy Wednesday in New York City, except . . . it was actually sunny. The terrible news shades the memory gray — Bill Buckley died that morning at his home in Stamford, Conn. He was 82 and had battled a number of persistent and complicating afflictions. They won out. But he went, as they say, with his boots on — in his study, writing, adding to the millions of words he had already shared with the world on topics from Bach and GPS systems to tax cuts and communism.

Given how flawed human nature is, America has been a remarkable moral achievement. This is the truism that separates the wise man from the fool. This is the truism that separates the left from the anti-left. Those who acknowledge how flawed human nature is compare America to reality. Those who do not, compare America to some utopian image: a country free of inequality, prejudices, intolerance, sexual misbehavior, greed, etc. This divide helps explain why those who hold a biblical worldview -- usually religious Jews and Christians -- are more likely to appreciate America than those who do not.

Consider this a more florid version of the “yay discovery” response that Giuliani’s supporters have expressed, with a side of bravado: Rudy Giuliani slammed Dominion Voting Systems on Monday in response to the company’s announcement that it was suing him for defamation. “Dominion’s defamation lawsuit for $1.3 billion will allow me to investigate their history, finances, and practices fully and completely,”

Buried within the $1.9 trillion emergency spending bill that Congress sent to President Joe Biden's desk on Wednesday is a provision that could effectively block states from cutting taxes if they accept federal bailout dollars. That provision, added to the bill by the Senate last week, could put a halt to several states' plans to cut taxes this year as a way to stimulate economic growth following the COVID-19 pandemic. Depending on how the text is interpreted, the measure could also make it illegal for states to create new tax credit programs like the ones that have become a popular mechanism for expanding school choice.
