President-elect Joe Biden’s plans for a major new economic relief package boosting stimulus payments to $2,000 ran into possibly fatal opposition from his own party Friday as Sen. Joe Manchin III (D-W.Va.) said he would “absolutely not” support a new round of checks. Manchin, a moderate who will hold great sway in a Senate split 50-50 between Democrats and Republicans, made his views known even as the Biden team worked to develop a coronavirus relief package that would include new stimulus checks, extended unemployment benefits, and more.

Stop extending the unemployment. I'm Wisconsin we are desperate for workers. Companies are put-up up billboards, sending direct mail post cards and advertising on radio and TV for help and at good wages. We offer $15 for entry level cleaning jobs, but get few to actually show up to the interview. We had two hired to start last Monday and they never showed up. My guess is that their stimulus money showed up... Why work when you can get paid for not working?

The GOP needs to stop pussy-footing around with Joe Manchin. They all know he can be bought. Find out what his price is, make him an offer to switch parties, and retake the Senate majority.

Romney, Sasse, Collins, and Cowski will vote for it. Probably Graham, who will join the Biden team.

Manchin DOES need to switch parties.
He would be INFINITELY more reliable than Romney.

Manchin is now the most powerful man in the Senate.

Creating click bait for prince Chuckie Cheese. Haggling time. Biden promised it because Trump insisted on it.
He knows he'll never have to make good on it. McConnel killed it to get one last shot at Trump.
I am so sick of these morons outside of DJT who are back to playing political games.
MAGA Party 2022.These Uniparty jackasses have just created 80 MILLION Trumps. 10 Senate seats, 35 House seats.

Biden no doubt knew this before he promised to bribe Georgia voters with this promise but hey, what's another broken democrat promise? Georgia is sending two new substandard senators to Washington and that's exactly what Joe needed.

#12: You've hit on what I've said is the 77,000,000's best hope - that the Dims have lied to their voters to get elected and that their promises will be forgotten AGAIN.
Not that that will matter to their voters who will take a bite off that same rotten apple again next time. But while I can not say anything favorable about Pelosi, Schumer and Biden, I would never have accused them of being socialists. They are power-mad to be sure and they have latched on to the social justice warriors for the sake of power.
It may be interesting (while definitely NOT fun) to see what happens when they screw the SJWs as they've repeatedly screwed the Blacks and others who have fallen for their lies over and over again.

Shouldn't it be $200,000 now? Leftists own the world now; they can afford it.

Unfortunately, Murkowski, Collins, and Mittens will offset any good that Manchin is able to accomplish.

Manchin would enhance his popularity back home if he were to switch to republican. In fact, the governor of West Virginia switched to R and was reelected in November. Trump carried that state in 2016 and 2020 by nearly 70%, so the state is solidly red.
