No. 1 Alabama and No. 4 Ohio State took care of business in their respective national semifinal matchups and will tee it up at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, on Jan. 11 for the College Football Playoff National Championship. It'll be a rematch of their classic Sugar Bowl national semifinal matchup following the 2014 season -- the first under the four-team playoff format. The Crimson Tide are coming off a thorough 31-14 dismantling of No. 3 Notre Dame in the Rose Bowl.

One or both teams will get covid, and the game will have to be delayed. Then the Tide will roll. But I don't really like either team, so I probably won't follow it.

OSU - the Joe Biden of college football. With fewer wins than he had public appearances, they were continuously fawned over by the media and dubiously guided by all the protective governing bodies to guarantee their rightful spot in the playoff. The "emphatic" win over the confused and disorganized Clemson team that showed up in New Orleans justified nothing. Kansas could have beaten the Tigers last night. Tide will roll. Bigly.
Side note: Once again, 2 lopsided wins in the 2 games played. It happens every year (you can look it up) yet the call goes out again to expand the playoff to 8 teams.
Side note 2: Sad to see even the major bowl games getting pushed further aside. ESPN begins their playoff hype halfway through the season and it's all they talk about from that point on. These days, a team that wins its conference but doesn't meet the expectation of a playoff spot is deemed a failure and its star seniors opt out of what becomes a meaningless bowl game rather than risk injury. Kudos to Kyle Trask for suiting up for the Cotton Bowl while his 3 top receivers stayed home, leaving the Heisman finalist struggling through 60 minutes of frustration against Oklahoma.

Apologies for the second post - hit send too soon.
Side note 3: Herbstreit. As a former OSU player and with 2 sons playing for Clemson, how in the world was he allowed to call that game? Why, of course - he's a member of the ESPN media elite that helped get his alma mater into the playoff. CBS Sports must be livid. He'll get to hype his team throughout the championship game next week and no one will be there to advocate for their favorite team, Alabama.

If the dems control the officiating, they can pick any winner they want.

How soon before the commie death democrats who control these universities that are in the playoffs, destroy college football like they have with all the other major sports? Soon these teams will have women, transgenders, and all sorts of other freaks competing in the college playoffs.

Alabama and Clemson will always be in the playoffs based on the weak schedules they play.

I couldn't care less about who was playing, just wanted to watch a fairly officiated game. I was astonished at the lack of penalties. The old "it's a big game, just let them play" is nonsense. If it is illegal on the first play of the season then it should be illegal on the last. The holding that the Ohio State offensive line got away with was ridiculous.

My two favorite college teams squaring off for the title. Won't be unhappy regardless of who wins. But Alabama has been THE team all year long, and aside from a valiant effort put up by Florida they've handle all comers with ease. I expect them to come out on top against the Buckeyes.

Both winning teams were much better than their opponents, with exceptionally talented players on both offense and defense. The one team I liked, Notre Dame, was the weakest of the four. Sadly, their miserable post-season playoff record now casts them as the Washington Generals (versus the Harlem Globetrotters) of college football.

Overlooked in all this, is the very strong probability that last night was Brian Kelly's final game as Notre Dame coach.
Kelly is only three wins from tying Knute Rockne. Lou Holtz and Ara Parseghian both left when they were within 10 or less wins.

#5, you are wrong. Herbie HATES Ohio State with a white-hot hate. I doubt he had anything to do with its being in the playoffs. Go Bucks!!
