President Donald Trump on Sunday signed a massive government funding and pandemic aid package, despite earlier calling it a "disgrace" and demanding that lawmakers amend it.
The outgoing president’s decision to sign the mega spending bill removes the threat of a partial government shutdown that would have started early Tuesday after a temporary spending law expired.
With the president's signature, federal unemployment benefits that lapsed Dec. 26 while Trump was mulling his options can start to flow again. Jobless aid recipients will get an extra $300 per week on top of regular benefits for 11 weeks.

Is there even one of these massive spending bills that Trump has not signed in the last 4 years. He threatens to veto then just caves and the game goes on without interruption.

Something is seriously wrong. First, all the pardons and now this - will Trump be throwing in the towel next month? Or maybe, perhaps, he just wants this major distraction out of the way when he comes out swinging on 1/6.

You got to remember that Trump can only do what is politically possible, when the wimpy establishment Republicans who make up a big portion of the DC Congressional “UniParty” will not back the Republican President there is not much Trump can do. It’s essentially been that way since Trump won the 2016 election. The Republican “UniParty” cabal could not buy Trump off, so they essentially covertly worked with the leftist and liberal Democrats within the corrupt DC “swamp” system to get rid of Trump. After the Democrats win the two runoff elections in Georgia on Jan 5 the Democrats will control both Houses of Congress and the White House, then they will show their true colors, and will permanently change the election laws and ballot procedures to ensure that there will not be another Republican President elected indefinitely.

Trump also just gave up any chance of the republics winning those 2 senate races. What is the incentive for anyone to get out and vote when they are all the same?

Don't get too discouraged. The President's statement about this is on whitehouse.gov. He has a strategy to hold back funds where appropriate, and, I think, is planning to work with a more conservative Congress in the new year to get what he wants. There's more detail in his full statement.

It was passed with an overwhelming veto proof majority. Didn’t matter what he did.

Where are all the Republicans, who support less spending? Hiding in their homes under the guise of China Virus?
Time to make these elected officials to stay in their constituencies and shut down their living in DC. Let them answer their voters from their hometowns.

This is sad. Very sad.
At least he has the 45 day Abatement on several spending issues but why did the RePubs balk at the Individual payment increase? They voted to send Billions overseas while everyday Americans will be getting $600 a month. The Potato Heads at CNN are going to have a Hay-Day celebrating this.
If POTUS doesn't show some very serious Resolve in the next several days, he will lose a lot of support. Support he cannot afford to lose.
I pray to God that he's playing Three Dimensional Chess or he simply wanted to get this out of the way for some Really Big Stuff that's in the works......

This is terribly disappointing. Just musing here my first thoughts but I think it’s an example of him reacting to his supporters’ stinging, bad reaction to the omnibus and then finding himself in no man’s land. Could have let it pocket veto but he couldn’t bear the idea of no relief checks for Hurting Americans.
We attribute great and vast wisdom to this man when he really is a common sense American who is smart and has great instincts but has to work in this terrible political sewer. and as strong and smart as he is, he doesn’t have any trouble spending government money on Americans and thinks making a deal is a good thing, whereas we want all he has gotten done plus fiscal restraint. My husband has been unhappy with him from the get-go because of his carefree way with spending.
1-The relief checks need to be means-tested. 2- If he said he won’t sign any more omnibus bills, he shouldn’t have had
mnuchin negotiating another one.
But — it’s a swamp. A big monster that says ‘feed me’. Not gonna end well.

I was worried when I saw that Miss Lindsey was playing golf with Trump today, and they were in the limo laughing. They rolled him.

Oh lord we can not have a possible government shut down while the rest of the country is under iron fisted lockdown. Can’t wait for the $600. Thanks for the crumbs Nancy.

This is the Democrat version. The Republican version was just posted up the front page from the Epoch Times. He got what he wanted and threw the bad stuff back on Congress.

America is BROKE! No Tengo Denero! So why are we giving away money that we don't have? Seriously, if we have to STEAL from our children's future, and leave a MASSIVE DEBT behind, then America deserves to crash and rot to the core.

I call a huge BS on those who said there was a veto-proof majority so Trump might as well sign it...I say NO. VETO that piece of garbage--as a majority of Americans on both sides supported!--and let Congress override the veto and own this garbage.
Trump signing it--with all the ridiculous caveats that will mean absolutely nothing after 1/20/21--was just throwing in the towel. He was played then rolled.
I'm done with him. He KNEW the election was going to be stolen and didn't have anything in place to fight it. It's over. God help us.
