The Big Apple’s staggering surge in shootings amid the COVID-19 pandemic has led nearly 9,000 terrified New Yorkers to apply for gun permits — but the NYPD has signed off on fewer than 1,100, The Post has learned. The 8,088 applications for first-time pistol and rifle permits submitted since March 22 — when coronavirus-related restrictions went into effect — represent a threefold-plus increase over the 2,562 submitted between March 22 and Dec. 31, 2019, NYPD statistics obtained by The Post this week show. But only 1,087 applications were approved, far less than the 1,778 granted during the same period last year,

And that in a nutshell is the problem. Why should I have to apply anywhere to secure what is my constitutional right?

Criminals get 100% of the guns they want in NYC.

Only possible because enough sheeple voted them into office for decades. Now it may not matter who votes, IF President Trump is defeated by the biggest coup ever. Meanwhile the 'tough' NY media, NEVER ask a rat politician to take responsibility for the failure of the racist Sullivan Laws that make NYC safe for murdering criminals.

I live in a constitutional carry state. No permit required. We dont have much crime because criminals have no idea who's carrying and who isn't. My barber is a little old lady and she carries a .38 snub. My sis in law carries a small auto. My co-workers all carry. I carry a .357 snub. None of us has ever had to even draw, let alone fire. Freedom works if you let it.

Even worse in Maryland. While I don't mind taking a course on gun safety, the $220 it takes to get a permit to own a gun is just ridiculous. Then after buying a gun, one has to wait seven days before being able to take it home. It's all about the money.

"Shall NOT be infringed" seems pretty straightforward and clear. Yet generations of loathsome nitwits-in-black-robes have chosen to permit despicable goobermint infringements, such as the Sullivan Law, to not only remain, but to advance.
Every Single One of these over reaches needs to be fought using any and all means. And I do mean ALL. We may be about at the point of no return. Unfortunately. Writing letters to the editor and making comments on message boards is evidently pointless and laughed off by those who consider themselves to be our "betters" and themselves the "elite". This is getting ugly.

The dictatorship is already formed in New York. Useless, cowardly cops can carry weapons as uniform decorations but actual citizens in danger may not. Fat chance any true American would comply with that bit of lunacy.

I used to feel sorry for the NYC cops because of the abuse they got from the corrupt democrats. Not anymore. They're a bunch of fascist themselves. Screw them. They deserve everything they get.

So, if I apply for a permit, pay a tax, NYC investigates me, and after a long delay I am granted a license to own a firearm. Tell me, can a NYC resident buy a gun, say, upstate, and avoid the unconstitutional restrictions?

The permits given out were probably given to the left wing big spenders in town.

Prior to this year, out of approximately eight million citizens of NYC, only about 4,000 had been allowed to obtain concealed carry permits, and the overwhelming majority of those were retired policemen and security guards, with a few celebrities like Robert DeNiro and, yes, President Trump before he was president thrown in for good measure. Almost no citizens carry legal firearms. Good for criminals in DeBlasio and Cuomo and Bloomberg's benighted city and state. I'm not planning to visit anytime soon.
