President-elect Joe Biden is “considering” forgiving $50,000 in federal student loan debt for low-income and middle class students, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) said Monday. Schumer held a press conference alongside Democratic Congressmen-elect Ritchie Torres, Mondaire Jones and Jamaal Bowman of New York, during which the group announced they have “come to the conclusion” that Biden can “forgive $50,000 of debt the first day he becomes president.” “You don’t need Congress, all you need is the flick of a pen and President-elect Biden — then President Biden — can make this happen,” Schumer said. And what about the poor suckers who voted for him and paid off their loans?
Will they all get reimbursed?

50K? Really? How about cutting the amount students can borrow, too? After forgiving these loans, it will just free the students to take out more loans they can't pay back.

Sorry to post again, but the income limit they are suggesting is up to 125K! People making that much can certainly afford to pay off at least a big chunk of their loans.

A lot of students who can't afford to pay their debt over time can't do so so because they chose courses ending in "studies" for their majors. Even after their debt is paid off they'll still be low income.

Will this count for future loans or just those who have one now?
What fool would pay for a college education if they will be forgiven that debt later?
This amounts to giving away a free college education to those lucky enough to have a loan now ----and screwing over those who are paying for their education.
Where does the money for this come from?
Will everyone now get a free college education?
What are the rules sat scores, High school grades, or just anyone who wants to go.?
You know this is crazy, but so are the folks who voted for this old man and Willie browns Concubine.

Under what authority can Biden "forgive" anyone's obligation to repay a lender? He's not a part of the contract.
I can't imagine how angry students and parents who uphold their obligations are going to be, if Joe Biden is allowed to let OTHER students and parents off the hook. This is an abuse of citizens and taxpayers.

This is the first step in universal free education, and the full government takeover of all education, i.e., indoctrination. Forgiveness of debt is income, so the students can get ready to report that on their tax returns. There are no rules anymore. You too can ignore them. Do what you like.

The loans are backed by the Federal government. No, Schmuck - you do need Congress to raise the taxes needed to pay off the incurred debt.

Having spent a fair amount of time in Europe and encountering students "studying abroad" it appeared that that the only thing they did was get drunk and be loud and obnoxious. As a student, I spent my summers and vacations working at the family steel yard to pay for my own education. When I was in my 50's I was finally able to travel to Europe on my own dime. Between the luxury campus accommodations and international travel, university seems to be more of a four year vacation than anything.
A couple of years ago, I hired a coupe of business school interns. None of them had ever touched a spreadsheet, and had no idea how they worked, but all considered themselves more than qualified to run my company. Nice kids, just no practical experience and an inflated sense of self-worth.

Just wait until Joe "gets some sort of disease and has to resign", as he said he would do
Kamala will declare all college loans null and void.

This is set up as a major gift to high income families.
The only argument should be that it should be targeted to specific careers (i.e. teacher loans paid off, doctors, nurses).
Not sure the IRS will view it as forgiven without considered income though.

You don't need Congress, or the Constitution, or the rule of law, or anything. Because with a flick of a pen, you, Slo Joe, can bippity-boppity-boo us into third-world, banana republic oblivion. Get cracking, you senile old fa*t! Chuckie says go!

They are going to destroy every dollar you saved and every investment you have. Biden and the rats will create a wheelbarrow economy within 3 years. You know, the kind of economy that requires wheelbarrows of paper money to buy groceries. This is how you destroy a country. Wreck the justice system, brainwash violent fools and control election outcomes.

Then all of us who are still alive and never had a student loan but paid our own way should get $100,000. As well as everyone who paid off their own loans. Just call it a reward for being honest responsible adults.

RACIST!!!! More White Americans have student loans than Black Americans.
More middle class Citizens have college loans than the poor Citizens.
Veterans who served our country in this dangerous world so they could go to college already paid the price, (too often in blood). They get a check for $50K?
Oh, that's right. They never limit the give-away to Americans, Citizens and certainly not Veterans.

That would help Biden’s popularity among the anarchist street rioters of Antifa who live in their mother’s basement with big student loans that they are supposed to pay off.

Car loans too, right? It's also 'unfair' that many students have credit card debt. Just forgive it!
