If you’re on the left, you believe that the traditional idea that humans come in two sexes (male and female) is not only outdated but evil. Instead, leftism insists that human sex identification is an infinitely malleable matter of personal choice, untethered to genetics. Conservatives respond that it’s not a matter of choice. Instead, people who claim to be transgendered almost invariably have complex mental issues, often stemming from their upbringing. A recently recovered 1991 study supports conservatives. (snip) I have said for years that transgenderism is a leftist attack on masculinity and a creepy, pedophile-like way to take control of children’s sexuality.

Several studies show that high levels of developmental hormones during certain periods of gestation also effect gender identity.

Transgenderism IS a choice - between the natural and the unnatural, between good and evil!

There are likely freaks of nature, there always are...that makes up less than a small percentage of people...the rest are using it to get attention, get favors, be treated differently and in the sick Leftist World View, get all the goodies for no work. There, I solved it for ya!

What that woman is doing to her son is child abuse.
Anyone who would do that to their child is evil, mentally ill, or both.
I would like to say get the child out of that home but that is another huge problem.

#2 son is an actor, and a bartender, of course, and offered me such an explanation several years ago.
Son's explanation was succinct. "If a person has all sorts of mental problems, and has no where to go, that person, as a last resort, goes trans."
How ironic is it that a man who was professor of child psychiatry at Penn State's medical school, with a wife and children, suddenly decides he is a tranny, and becomes a woman? That describes Dr. Rachel Levine, the butt-ugly 'woman' who is Pennsylvania Health Commissioner.
The advice, Physician, Heal Thyself, comes to mind.

There is nothing "normal" about failure to adhere to God's Law, especially when done under the guise of a "church" (Universalism is for whacked out loony leftists who despise the Word of God, but like to use the trappings of Christianity for their own ends). These people are sick, twisted, and degenerative to the social fabric of a nation and worthy of being shunned in their evil.
The origins of homosexuality, sexual depravity, etc. is the Old Sin Nature of mankind, inherited by all (except the virgin conceived, Jesus Christ) at the moment of Adam's fall in the Garden of Eden. The solution to which is, "Faith alone in Christ alone," and continued study of, and adherence to, His Word, as long as you remain alive on planet Earth.

There are a very small number of individuals who may have a root physical cause for transgenderism - This includes hermaphrodites and some other rare genetic anomalies revolving around the XY chromosomes.
The rest is a result of societal pressure.
If an adult wants to get into this, let them - they probably have enough mental problems to sink a battleship, and I wouldn't give them the responsibility to water a plant, but really, I don't care. Children, up to and including those going though puberty have never felt these urges before and can be easily misled into all sorts of psychological B.S. Having parents or guardians further confuse them is nothing short of child abuse. Schools who promote this criminality should be shut down, and the teachers and administrators, lose their jobs and be listed as sexual predators. Same for parents who do this.
And from what I see and hear, a lot of this seems to be done to MAKE the child vulnerable to sexual advances.

There's also a theory that sometimes the issue begins within the family dynamic and specifically within the mind of a resentful sibling of the opposite sex. A child may perceive that another sibling is getting preferential treatment due solely on gender and a child-like solution might be to "become" the same gender as the perceived favorite.

Answers are easy when it's not happening in your own family. Unfortunately, none of the "causes" cited in this article are true in mine.
1) the child's mother (married to my relative) is very loving and sweet, not at all crazy
2) father very present, strong figure, neither parent overbearing
3) theirs is a first marriage of 30+ years with no major dysfunction
4) parents NOT on board with this and refused to pay for anything related to it but were still loving and accepting of their child and in constant relationship
Here’s the "easy answer" taken up by some in our family: the child's body dysmorphia that started in very young childhood was the product of the artificial hormones of either the fertility drugs taken by a mother desperate to conceive or the contraceptives she’d been stewing her ovaries in her whole reproductive life. But who knows? This also sounds like the mother-blaming found in the article, but it’s a result of the post-sexual revolution society that trains its children that nothing is as important as one’s “right” to have free, unencumbered sex.
Whatever the cause, this case is closed because both mother and child are gone due to ovarian cancer and suicide.
Neither doing the right thing nor doing the wrong thing – whatever those things may be – seems to work since it never seems to end well either way. So I advise against too much dogmatism if you personally encounter families facing this because you have absolutely no idea what to do about it either. Just love them. And resist the urge to opine.

A portion of women being indoctrinated believe being overbearing is a requirement, reinforced by femi-naziism, and viola! Another societal problem, producing mentally ill adults, warped by mentally ill women.

Widberg is a good writer and has brought us a lot of great information. Matt Walsh is also well known for his forthright truths. However, the cause for trans-ism was discovered LONG before 1991. (An unfortunate rhetoric abounds which lets one think that history began the day you were born.) Transgenderism is a method by which one can deny that God is the Creator. It lets one fantasize that male and female were not created beings in the likeness of God. Do away with God and you can live your life any way you please. You do not have to believe in God for this to be true. Check out what was written as far back as between 55 to 57 A.D., and was found in a letter by the Rabbi Saul of Tarsus that he wrote to the persecuted believers in Rome. See, Rom 1:25-27. 1991, indeed!

The root cause is sin aka violation of God's law. Rebellion against God's authority. Self. Making oneself the highest authority or god. No end to the depths of depravity humanity will go in their quest for 'perfection and satisfaction' outside of God Himself. Hint: it's a waste of time and has deadly consequences for eternity.

OK, now we know that "transgendered" folks are whack jobs, mentally ill, insane, psychotic, not right in the head, whatever term you want to use. Yep, figured that out long ago.
How is that news? Anyone that can't figure that out on their own hasn't got a lot of brain cells working.

Yes, I have heard that when one has a mother who hates white men and a family with a history of mental health issues, it is easy for a white man to go transgender.

The root cause of most transgenderism is obsession of the parents with a fad.
Most of these parents will regret their actions just about the moment their child, having grown up and realized what they cut off of him, is approaching them with a knife to extract a final revenge. I predict a lot of murdered parents in about 10 to 15 years. I'm getting old but I'm hoping I'm still alive to hear of these joyous occasions.

I went to half of 11th grade in Norfolk, VA, then we moved mid year to another state. In my history class in Norfolk, the pretty normal, white, not terribly memorable female teacher had an "assistant", which seemed odd at that time, but "OK, whatever". Never had an "assistant" in any other class in school.
The assistant looked roughly like Ernest Borgnine with long hair, a heavy 5-o'clock shadow at 8 am, and hairy arms and a deep voice, except Borgnine alway smiled. "She" wore oversized flowered mumus with high necks every day, and seemed to be built about like Borgnine, too, except for the chest area which sorta seemed female. "She" was always in an angry mood, it seemed, scowling was normal. Avoiding interacting with the assistant was the best plan.
In the 11th grade, I wondered why some guy was pretending to be a woman, or if some woman had left the carnival bearded lady act to sort of teach. I didn't spend much mental capital on that lunacy then, hadn't thought of it at all until now. Creepy person then, clearly pretty unhappy, too. Best stay away from them.

Could it have anything to do with vaccines being made from aborted fetuses using male and female dna?
Could a female be given a vaccine using male dna?
Obviously, I am a layperson - no scientific knowledge - just a thought.

Doubtful, #19. And I'm not sure that aborted fetuses are used for vaccines. Do you have a reference on that?
Not saying it doesn't happen, just that I am unfamiliar with it, wonder if it is real, and if so, how they might be used.

A very wise L-dotter (whose name I can’t remember) posted this a few months ago...
If there are 57, 62 or whatever the current number of “genders” is, then why are there only two choices for “transitional” surgery?

Whatever the causes may be, this is not a lifestyle that should be encouraged. This seems like very good advice from the article:
"rather than destroying their bodies with hormones and surgery to create a Frankenstein-like simulacrum of that opposite sex, we should first give them a trial treatment of hormones aligned with, not the opposite of, their biological gender."
Alas, this probably is or soon will be illegal in blue states....

exactly, "the root cause of transgenderism"? put public schools at the top of the list propaganda farms for the demcom establishment. Marx and Engels would be proud to see how significant they have become in the most capitalist country ever.

#20 No scholar - former primary school teacher. Sometimes I read things that make me curious.
I found an article on Life-Site News, December 4, 2020, entitled, "U.K. Bishops say 'one does not sin by receiving' abortion-tainted COVID vaccine". Life-Site is a great Catholic pro-life site. Hopefully, they don't agree with U.K. Catholic bishops' premise.
Also found article from the United States Council of Catholic Bishops. Original article dated April 2007, updated April 2015: "Conscience Exemption for Vaccines Based on Fetal Tissue from Abortions". There was a time effective vaccines were made before abortions. Heard some in the Catholic hierarchy are referred to as the Deep Church - with good reason.
I thank you for your question, and I apologize for being so wordy, but the world is drowning, and I really feel sorry for the young. We create problems for them that they really do not need.

#24, I did a search and found that some vaccines are created using human cell lines which have their origins long ago (multiple decades) from aborted fetuses. Many vaccines are not made this way, using eggs or animal cell lines.
No expert on the topic, but docs have tried to develop a way to correct genetic errors which are specifically known to cause diseases, or dramatically increase the risk of developing a disease and they have been unable to find a way to change the faulty DNA in a person.
So, it would seem to be unlikely that a vaccine which is grown in a human cell would be able to change any significant portion of the DNA of a person.
That DNA is encoded into every single cell in the body......not likely to be easily changed.
