Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan plans to sign a new city budget that will reduce the police budget by 18% despite homicides reaching record highs not seen in a decade. Council members overwhelmingly voted last week to cut funds for police training and overtime and to eliminate dozens of vacant positions within the Seattle Police Department after months of contentious talks. The reductions fall short of the 50% that local activists demanded amid nationwide protests against police brutality and racial injustice. The council also decided to transfer parking enforcement officers, mental health workers and 911 dispatchers out of the police department.

This guarantees continued democrat rule. The coming increase in crime will result in an exodus of tax paying citizens. And a higher and higher percentage of the moocher class remaining. Property values will drop. The tax base and thus collected taxes will drop. In due time, Seattle will more and more resemble Detroit.
Seattle is either intentionally or unintentionally destroying their economy to appease the very mobs who are physically destroying property.
I have a lifetime of popcorn in the pantry to watch the entirely predictable conclusion of clueless governance.
I blame the voters............

The best part of what's happening isn't in the article. The city council have hired, at $150,000 a year mind you, a former pimp to organize and run an 'alternative' police force.
I live just north of Seattle and the housing prices here have sky-rocketed. My little mid-century, 3 bedroom, one and a half bath is going for just under $700,000. The house two doors down from me sold two months ago for $804,000. People fleeing Seattle are buying these homes. Still close to the metro area but out of, (so far) the craziness.

Not to worry! A decline in population of 18% has (or will) leave the state in a matter of months. Ask California or any other crime ridden hell s hole state.

This delusional summer-of-love bimbo should be sued for reckless endangerment and accessory to murder. How stupid can you get? On the other hand, nobody will ever miss parking enforcement officers, anytime, anywhere.

Did no one on that council ever hear the phrase “You get what you pay for”?

This just means the population control plans of the left to save the planet are working. Each suicide just means that much less dreaded dangerous pollutant carbon dioxide will be released into the air. Each suicidee gets the prestigious Darwin Award for Environmental Activism.

Hey, Seattle crazies vote in leftist lunatics and they destroy the city. Not my problem. I have carefully selected a place far, far away.
If people like living in a place where murder and other violence is not stopped by police, they can enjoy it. I'll stay away.

Seattle, Minneapolis, New York and the other leftist enclaves should be seen by sane Americans as occupied territory and avoided at all costs. If you have to go to these places get in and get out as quickly as you can then set up some workable arrangement to interact via remote technology if at all possible.
