The IRS now acknowledges that its own error caused some citizens of other countries to mistakenly receive $1,200 coronavirus relief payments—and that the mistake is likely to happen again if more stimulus money goes out. When reports of the mistake first surfaced, the U.S government placed the blame on those non-Americans, saying that many noncitizens erroneously received stimulus checks because they had filed incorrect tax returns that made them appear to be American. But many non-Americans who received stimulus money do not file U.S. tax returns.(Snip) Kelleher said Sprintax has clients from about 150 countries who mistakenly received stimulus checks,

And so those folks then in turn donated all that money to the DNC and buyden for president. Nice scam. It is the left's way of destroying the country.

The IRS, the US Postal Service, the FBI, the Justice Department, the CIA, and many more... couldn't find their own noses on their own faces. We taxpayers are not happy with this kind of incompetence from those drawing large salaries. Our hard-earned taxes are being flagrantly wasted, and likely funding some other bad people. Please God, bless and keep President Trump and give him four more years for us!.

Anyone think this was really a mistake? How could you "accidently" send money to non citizens overseas?

And yet, my household, whose income varies greatly year by year, got cheated out of the stimulus when the IRS wrongly used 2018 return income when our 2019 return had been filed, and of course, we made significantly more in 2018. I’m still furious as we had a huge loss of income due to Covid paycuts. What really frosts my cookies are the majority who got the checks (fraud aside) had no income loss. And no one offered to help. I despise the IRS. We will never recover our losses. Yeah, I’m freaking bitter. Eternally.

Don't have a lot of affection for the IRS. Had a problem in 2020. Prepared the tax return in Feb but since I owed money told the preparation service not to file until April 14. Then COVID struck and an extension was granted until June 15. So my return was filed on April 14 but I didn't send a check until June 14. Now they have accused of not having paid. Have provided them the check no, etc. What frosts me is my taxes wouldn't pay for even one trip of Nasty Pelosi from San Fran Sissy to Washington and back.

#9 To think some people with large families got thousands of dollars plus that extra $600 a week for unemployment.
Raise your hand if you are shocked. How many dead people outside of the country are still receiving SS checks ?
Last time I called I spent two hours on hold, speaking to two people for five minutes and they wanted to transfer me again.

There are various groups of people with 'special circumstances' like this Swedish woman who would have been difficult to segregate or handle properly unless the necessary data files were available and/or designed for. All of this had to be designed, coded and tested in an extremely short timeframe. So, frankly, this doesn't surprise me at all.
That being said, the federal government is now entirely too big to function competently!

OP is right on. Not everybody got those ''sitonurass'' checks. Some didn't deserve the ones they received, others were neglected. That happens when Uncle Sugar starts stirring up his bag of tricks; it will never be equitable. I still get irritated when people call Social Security an entitlement. It was EARNED. The hard way.

What a bunch of morons. They give away money to those not legally eligible to receive it yet a real American citizen can short them a nickel and be hounded with phone calls and hate mail for years. When we start tearing things down, it all has to go. They are all either corrupt, incompetent, dishonest, stupid or all of the above.

The IRS needs to be abolished and replaced with a 'one type' tax, i.e. what you made x 10% = your tax due...no more money wasted on an organization that targets ANY group...especially conservatives.

Good enough for Government work! Remember the Democrats propose to give stimulus checks to all illegal aliens in the USA. You have to wonder how many people are filing bogus tax returns in phoney names just to get refunds, tax credits, and now additional stimulus checks?

If you can't afford to enter illegally, the least we can do is send you money extracted from US citizens by the "government".

We let dead people vote, so why shouldn't ineligible people living in places including Australia, China, India, Latin America, South Korea, Sweden, the UK, and Vietnam receive magical US Treasury checks, no questions asked? It's all a big joke, no one is ever held accountable.
