Nearly three million people in England will be offered free Vitamin D supplements this winter.
The Government will deliver doses of the 'sunshine vitamin' to all care home residents as well as people classified as 'clinically extremely vulnerable'.
Deliveries will be free of charge, starting in January, providing four months' worth of supplements to last 2.7million people through the winter months. The supplements support general health, in particular bone and muscle health, but around one in five Britons have Vitamin D deficincies. There is some evidence suggesting that it may help people fight coronavirus, and the link between the two is still being researched with larger-scale trials needed.

I take 3000 units of Vitamin D and 1000 of C every morning. Might explain why I haven't caught the virus in spite of all the traveling and dining in restaurants I've done this year not to mention my aversion to those fool masks.

If you're a diabetic on Metformin, you need to limit your Vitamin-D intake.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Clinic reported last week that you have a 28% less chance of catching Covid-19 if you take Melatonin. Also, there was a study from several weeks ago that made a remarkable claim -- people who don't wear glasses are five times more likely to catch Covid-19 than those who do. So apparently, the eyes are a primary entry point for the virus.

I do the same as #1, except I take my vitamin C as 500mg twice a day. I've been taking D3 for years and C since leaving the hospital a month ago.
IMHO, there is still to much unknown about this Kung Flu to attempt to treat everyone the same way, and that includes quarrentines and lockdowns.

Hydroxychloroquine is also great fo prevent China Virus but is forbidden by little Fauci. No studies have been made on whether masks work or not, but we wear them. Everyone should take vitamin D and Zinc. A little sunshine will provide a lot of vitamin D.

One study showed that of the covid deaths, only 4.1% of them had normal vitamin D levels. The others were either insufficient or deficient. For some reason, you have to request your doctor add it to your annual blood work.

Vitamin D is an estrogen. If you have had cancer, I would think twice.

isn’t vitamin D readily available from the sun ? is it really a hormone like estrogen ? How can that be ? Vita D is in short supply cause of all the sun blocks , and now quarantining . Release people to go outside , maskless .. There are studies about the ineffective masks .somehow they disappear tout d’suite . hmm

My doctor told me to take Vitamin D years ago and I've been following his advice. It couldn't hurt and might help, so why not?

Vitamin D is dirt cheap to buy. Don't know why the government has to provide it.
Have you noticed though on TV how many people are as pale as a ghost? Guess they never go outdoors.

Vitamin D, while the only vitamin that is a hormone, is not related to estrogen. Vitamin D strengthens your immune system and therefore reduces your risk for cancer. Also, it reduces your risk of depression, diabetes, osteoporosis, and other maladies. You do not have to ‘watch it’ if you take metformin. Metformin can affect metabolism of B-12 so you should take B-12 and folate if you take metformin, which is also an excellent drug. To reduce your risk of Covid or your risk of becoming seriously ill with Covid, take vitamin D3 4000-5000 IU per day, vitamin C 1000-2000 mg per day, melatonin 10 mg at night. Other drugs which might be helpful are N-AC, famotidine and vitamin E.

Vitamin D supplements are good - but please get outside & in the sun too!! Sun exposure increases Nitric Oxide production which helps you breath. Then there is this from a paper posted on WattsUpWithThat: exposure to UVB in sunlight or artificial UVB sources, in safe amounts, depending on skin phototype (dark skin might need 5-6 times more exposure than light skin), is necessary for maintaining normal innate immunity. Vitamin D supplements cannot replace UVB exposure." "...UVB light stimulates production of cathelicidin and other antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) in the skin. These AMPs are carried by the blood to the respiratory tract and enhance innate respiratory immunity. AMPs are also referred to as “natural antibiotics,” because they protect not only against microbes but also enveloped viruses, including influenza and coronaviruses."

Given that the UK is in a constant state of dark, dreary and wet, residents should be given Vitamin D year 'round. I often wonder why Julius Caesar didn't just turn his legions back when he reached their coast.

Why were they not given the Vitamin D last year? This isn't rocket science. People who don't get enough sun, such as those locked up in nursing homes, need Vitamin D. This is a disgrace.

If we go outside wrapped up for winter with the mandated face masks covering most of our faces, there is precious little skin exposure to the feeble rays of the winter sun, thus the need for vitamin D supplementation.

According to recent research, NAC dramatically increases your chances of getting chance. It's because of the amino acid, L-Cysteine. In fact, researchers are looking at blocking the uptake of L-Cysteine as a cancer treatment.

I have taken 3000 units of Vitamin D3 every day for three decades. This year, I increased to 4000 units per day, plus Vitamin C, E and a multivitamin.
I have NEVER had the flu in my life. Colds are rare.
I am not particularly interested in trying g on th he Wihan flu, but I tend to doubt that I'll get it.
I spray my hands with isopropyl alcohol after leaving any building other than my home. I wear a mask as little as possible, don't believe that they help at all.

Vitamin D supplements on a daily basis, Zinc when you feel sick. Might not help but it won't hurt and makes far more sense than masks.
