The Atlantic stuns with feature accused

The Atlantic shocked readers with a polarizing feature that has been accused of promoting the mass abortion of children who are determined to have Down syndrome through prenatal testing -- but others feel the story is an important one that needed to be told. NewsBusters managing editor Curtis Houck accused The Atlantic of cheering eugenics “and the murder of people with Down Syndrome, simply because of who God created them to be.” “Everyone who works there should be ashamed,” Houck wrote.

This is one of the many examples of the left getting ahead of themselves, and revealing their plans for us (the proles). Add to that $4/gallon gasoline, confiscation of 401ks, waiting in line for a needed surgery to be approved by the government...

I knew this back in 1996. I should have switched my OB/GYN doctor at the time because he was insisting that I go through all of that testing. I told him no. Alas, he found a way around because of my unfamiliarity with medical testing. One of the results forced me into having an amniocentesis. Everything turned out okay but it introduced a lot of concern that my baby was okay and not suffering. The Atlantic should be ashamed.

Great post #3! My wife worked with special needs kids. There's something about Downs kids. Whatever the genetic alignment, there seems to be a "Happiness" gene and a "Love" gene that shines in Downs kids. They were always a blessing to her!

China is practising genocide by eugenics. Naturally the left is all in with their take on it. China kills off down syndrome babies, exactly as Hitler's Germany did, and the left here in the USA are down for that struggle. Nothing could possibly surprise a thinking man.

Seems to me china tried this a long time ago...and their edict allowing only one child per couple was a disaster because couples only wanted male children... down the proverbial road... there were not enough women for marrying age men....another example of governments messing with the natural order...

Exactly 13 years ago this month, my son and his wife were expecting their second child. One of the tests came back showing he might, just might, have Down's syndrome. My son and D-I-L refused to have any more tests done to confirm it. Our grandson was born in February a perfectly healthy baby. The only thing wrong was when he was a few hours old, he started having trouble breathing and was found to have a partially collapsed lung which was fixed in no time. I wonder how many babies have been aborted because of a faulty test showing they have Down's syndrome but in reality there was nothing wrong with them.

Biden's chief health adviser is Zeke Emanuel, the Himmler of Healthcare. This article is a trial balloon for eugenics pre-birth. The next ones are euthanasia on demand and the withdrawal of any extraordinary medical treatment for those over 75. Emanuel is on the record for both, including the withdrawal of political rights from the developmentally disabled and those with cognitive impairments (except Joe of course, because he's useful). Emanuel is an evil, evil man and anything he does is suspect.

Several years ago, I happened to land on an article from an Iceland news feed about people with Down syndrome. The comments on that article were terrifying. They were all about whether people have "value" based on their ability to contribute to society, and if they don't, they should be . . . murdered (killed off, aborted, or whatever other PC way you want to say it). "Professing to be wise, they became fools!"

Re: #14’s reply, a year or two ago Iceland put out a PR announcement that the entire country was Down Syndrome free, as if this was some sort of genetic medical miracle. It turned out that they had reached zero by aborting all of the babies who tested positive for DS. Hence my comment in reply #3.

I don't want the suggest the assumption that any person has more right to live than any other, but --- sheer speculation --- I think the world would be, on the whole, a happier place following the death of all eugenicists, rather than the death of all Downs Syndrome people.

So if “improving the health of a nation by preventing the birth of those deemed to be burdens on society” will ease societal burdens, why does the left continue to advocate for open borders, mass immigration, and amnesty? Imported poverty, to resume under Joe Biden, has already burdened Americans far more than allowing children with Down syndrome to live. They are innocent. Imported criminals and the politicians who look the other way are not.

Of all the claims that have been made in this election, the most astounding is the idea that the proper authority to certify the winner — and dispose of all objections — is the press. That would be the same press that proved to be so inaccurate in respect of what would happen in the past two elections. It is now in high dudgeon over the fact that millions of Americans lack for confidence in its decision to call the race for Mr. Biden. What vainglory. “Day by day,” the Washington Post editorializes this morning, “President Trump’s efforts to overturn the results of a free and fair election grow more brazen.”

Joe Biden’s victory has touched off new fears of war with Iran, yet there’s a way for him to tamp down tensions: Let the regime know, in no uncertain terms, that America will stand with its allies, reject appeasement — and never return to that failed Obama-era nuke deal. Iran triggered some of the fears when a UN nuclear watchdog confirmed that Tehran has begun operating underground centrifuges and has enriched and stockpiled uranium in violation of that 2015 deal. An Iranian-backed group also fired rockets at the US embassy in Iraq.

The video by Haley's advocacy group Stand for America highlights Warnock's praise for anti-American preacher Jeremiah Wright, his connection to communist dictator Fidel Castro, and the policies he has supported that are "too radical for Georgia." "Raphael Warnock is an anti-America, anti-police, anti-Israel, anti-Semitic, anti-jobs, anti-taxpayer, pro-socialized medicine, and pro-communist radical," the video concludes. Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what the Kennedys ever did for your country. Bring the monkey’s paw of being telegenic into politics? Of all the things that the American political system needed, this was the last. And whatever it was that the Kennedys did, they did most of it a long time ago. The assassination of John F. Kennedy is almost as distant in time as the assassination of William McKinley was when Kennedy took office. McKinley, by the way, also had great personal popularity. This is the familiar issue that involves Dominion and SmartMatic software. Here is the press conference; it begins around an hour into the video.

Has Team Trump thrown in the towel over Wayne County? The campaign has withdrawn its lawsuit over the certification of election results in Michigan’s most populous county, the only chance — microscopic as it was — for overturning Donald Trump’s loss in the state. However, the statement this morning from Rudy Giuliani claims to have stopped the county’s certification, when in fact it took place two days ago: President Donald Trump’s re-election campaign said on Thursday it was withdrawing its lawsuit disputing vote results in Michigan, in another faltering legal attempt to challenge the Nov. 3 victory of U.S. President-elect Joe Biden.

The liberal media meltdown about last week’s speech by Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito is silly and hypocritical. The speech was not only acceptable but insightful and appropriate. Alito was the featured speaker at the annual national meeting (by video because of the coronavirus) of the Federalist Society, a group of mostly conservative lawyers that sponsors debates and seminars throughout the country. His remarks were quite pointed, perhaps even provocative, but they were well within ethical bounds. The media and leftist politicians, though, reacted as if Alito had thrown a verbal Molotov cocktail into the edifice of judicial propriety. But the media’s vapors are nothing more than gaseous piffle.

When President Trump refused to concede the election to Joe Biden in the immediate aftermath of Nov. 3, we argued that he had the right to mount legal challenges if he believed there had been irregularities, mistakes, fraud, or all three. Democratic objections and outrage were as hypocritical as they were inevitable, coming as they did from a corps that refused to accept the 2016 election result not for days, weeks, or even months, but for four years. But although fair-minded people know there are legitimate procedures for litigation, and that these should be allowed to play out, there is also wisdom in the phrase, “put up or shut up.”
