Travelers to New York must quarantine
for three days, then get coronavirus test

Original Article

NEW YORK - Most people arriving in New York state must quarantine for at least three full days before taking a coronavirus test, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced on Saturday as he overhauled one of the strictest quarantine regimes for travelers in the United States. If that test comes back negative, the traveler can leave quarantine. The requirements, which take effect on Wednesday, will not apply to residents of “contiguous” states, Cuomo told reporters, and there will be different requirements for New Yorkers who leave the state for less than 24 hours. He named Connecticut, Pennsylvania and New Jersey as examples

Sounds more like being under house arrest.

Not that I've been there much anyway, but I think I'll just cross New York off of my states to visit ever or until they have a complete and total change of politics in the state. I might make an exemption for the Baseball Hall of Fame but I would take a route that brings me nowhere near New York City.

My wife's family and my mom (locked in quarantine in assisted living) are all in the Empire State. With that little despot ruling like it's his empire. So it looks like our Thanksgiving is spent here in NH by ourselves. Guess I'll have to invite Johnny Walker, Jack, Jim some Old Crow and a wild turkey for dinner.

Hopefully the rules are not as confusing as the article. They probably are. Rule: "People will also be required to take a test that comes back negative within the three days prior to heading to New York, the governor said." This appears to apply to every one EXCEPT RESIDENTS of exempt contiguous states. Which means it applies to all people (including infants) from every other state, every country, and to non-residents of the exempt contiguous states. Sounds as bad as travel into (and within?) Nazi Germany in WW2. It's hard to believe then even tyrant Gov. Cuomo (or any government in the US) can be this ignorant. How long will New Yorkers put up with this insanity?! Ditto for courts of law.

Whaaat? NY would - or will - need a complete immigration service to conduct such an operation. And why would anyone want to visit NY under those conditions? And it will add expenses to the trip. Also, the different rules for people from contiguous states and/or New York residents returning home will only aggravate those required to do the full 3 days of quarantine. Just require visitors to wear an unique armband and stay 12 feet from any NY resident during the visit.

There is nothing left to do in NYC for a tourist...Broadway closed along with the superb restaurants and clubs. As for the rest of the state, as an avid fly fisherman I had always had a desire to fish the famous streams mentioned in countless books and articles. The area around Roscoe in the Catskills especially. The Beaverkill and Willowemoc and others. That area was where fly fishing for trout came of age in the US. Won’t go now or ever. Imagine having to sit in your motel room for three days then test positive. What happens then? They shoot you call it a Covid death.

Oh, I can’t wait to enjoy the Big Apple again. I can spend three days locked in a luxury hotel where the homeless are being housed. Then I can stroll down Fifth Avenue to see all the boarded-up shops and watch a few muggings. Then I’ll not go to the theater after not having a fine meal at one of the city’s fine eateries. I’ll cap the evening off with no drinks and not visit a nightclub. And on Sunday I won’t be allowed to attend church. It will be so cheap! “If I can fake it there, I can fake it anywhere!”

A significant provision making any student loan forgiveness tax-free has been included in the $1.9 trillion federal coronavirus stimulus package that’s working its way through Congress and will likely soon be signed into law. Currently, any student loan debt canceled by the government can be considered taxable and levied at the borrower’s normal income tax rate. For example, if someone earns $50,000 a year, and was at a 22% tax rate, and received $30,000 in student loan forgiveness, they might be slapped with a $6,600 bill from the IRS. Soon, borrowers may be off the hook from these payments. What

Hennepin County Judge Peter Cahill postponed the start of Derek Chauvin's trial in the killing of George Floyd on Monday, after an appeals court ordered him to reconsider his original decision to dismiss a third-degree murder charge against the former Minneapolis police officer. The decision came as a pool of potential jurors waited to start the selection process. The delay comes as Chauvin's defense attorney, Eric Nelson, said he is finalizing an appeal asking the Minnesota Supreme Court to review the question of whether Cahill should consider reinstating the murder charge. I’m probably second to none in my dislike for Meghan Markle. There’s something unattractive about a mature woman marrying into the British Royal family with one of the world’s most expensive weddings, hanging out with the Queen, living in insane luxury…and then whining non-stop about the horror of her life. There’s something even less appealing when that woman accuses the Royal family of race hatred. And the problem is that, when it comes to that left-wing diva, Meghan Markle, it’s hard to believe most of what she says. After weeks of hype, CBS finally televised Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah.
