Austin has seen a spike in violent crime and officer retirements after the city council voted over the summer to immediately slash $20 million from the police department budget, becoming the first major Texas city to do so. In August, Austin City Council members voted unanimously to cut about $150 million, or roughly one-third, from its police department and allocate those funds to areas like violence prevention, housing and mental health services. Only about $21.5 million was immediately removed from the department's funding in part by canceling three upcoming cadet classes and slashing overtime expenses. "It is demoralizing for the officers. It is angering for the citizens

Not, actually.
Anyone with half a brain or more could have predicted this. Of course, leftists don't have half a brain, let alone more, or they wouldn't be leftists.

I live in Austin. Fortunately, the violence has been pretty much kept to the downtown area. I would guess that is because, as lie-beral as Austin is, a lot of people own weapons in the suburbs and know we have both the "castle doctrine" and very supportive state government officials to back us up if we have to use our weapons to defend our neighborhoods. Good conservative state officials make a huge difference, and I hope people will realize that on election day!!!!!

I'm so glad I do not live there anymore!! It is a beautiful city, but the leftists are turning it into a hellhole. It appears that they are trying to outdo San Francisco for stupidity. Everywhere you look, there are homeless and beggars, and you cannot do anything.

Rant ahead: In Austin, you cannot get plastic bags at the grocery, because plastic is evil or something. However, almost everywhere in Austin is within 15 minutes of a different county, where you can get all the bags you want. So, not only do you get your bags, but your sales tax goes elsewhere, and the pollution you spew out driving, mostly stays in Austin. In an additional marvel of stupidity, the city provides free dog poop bags from dispensers located everywhere. So, I can carry my dog poop in a plastic bag, but not my groceries. End rant!

What did they expect would happen? Maybe they were hoping community organizers would put together volunteer social worker crisis quick response teams that never materialized. Oh I know, all the money they saved by cutting the police can be used for 24 hours a day basketball courts all around the city. Now that should cut crime down to nothing.

I was born in Austin, but never lived there. In our isolated ranch country, Austin was the nearest place with doctors and hospitals, 350 miles. Austin was a different place back then, just a nice college town with good medical facilities. Now, it's a hippie paradise with homeless people everywhere. I have a cousin who headed the "naturlsts" group, suing the county to keep nudist park naked. That's how weird Austin is determined to remain. I just drive on through these days. No need to stop in Austin except for something like an O.Henry pun-off in Zilker Park.

As dramatic scenes unraveled in the Capitol on Wednesday – with a horde plowing through security – the jarring live video showed a woman draped in a Trump flag who has been shot by a plainclothes officer as she allegedly purported to breach the storied chambers via the window. She was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition and later died from her wounds. That woman was later identified as a 14-year Air Force veteran from San Diego, Calif. Her name was Ashli Babbitt. Her husband, Aaron Babbitt, told KUSI-TV in San Diego that she was a "strong supporter of President Trump, and was a great patriot

There is much loose talk about secession among conservatives. Focused as they are on the outrages of the Left – the cheating, the immorality, the welfare-state entitlement, and the rabid anti-Christian beliefs that put men in women’s bathrooms – conservatives think that these represent the fundamental existential threat to the Republic. They do not. Over the horizon lies the largest, most well-funded, most well educated, communist power in the history of the earth. It is atheist, secularist, and mercantilist. It has a Navy larger than our own and air forces quickly approaching ours in size and complexity. The communists hate the United States.

Almost nobody is more reviled by the international intelligentsia and media than the late Augusto Pinochet, the late 20th -century Chilean dictator. He holds a prominent position in the political left’s “rogues’ gallery” comprised of those who stood in opposition to their goals. His supposed “crimes” included conducting a military coup to illegitimately grab control of the Chilean government from a popularly elected president, rounding up and torturing huge numbers of innocent citizens (killing as many as 80,000 in the process) and corruptly stealing vast sums of money while ruling as a dictator. But many of those claims are either false or exaggerated

Every once in a while, most of us wind up in situations where we are completely baffled. It may be a simple situation, such as having looked literally everywhere for our reading glasses, and not having found them. Did they violate the laws of physics and just vanish? One knows that that cannot be true, and yet, as the old saying goes, once one has ruled out every logical possibility, only the illogical remains, no matter how unlikely it is. Another situation is the one we are in now. Any informed person, with a modicum of sense, can see that the presidential

Simply put, they hate Trump because he represents ordinary Americans — those who are not part of the political and corporate elite, who lack the advantages and connections of the Deep State, who are not media, academics, or celebs. President Trump puts ordinary Americans first, and it drives the elite nuts. The elite have spent so many years enjoying their advantages, including the psychological advantage of despising ordinary people, that they panicked when someone tried to take it all away from them. They can't go on living without that warm, reassuring sense of superiority. Contempt for average Americans was palpable in Hillary Clinton,

During the COVID pandemic, much science is at play, treated either as gospel or hate speech, enough for science professionals to lose their jobs or be suspended from social media platforms if their views are inconvenient to the establishment’s narrative. The all-knowing, all-caring, anointed guru of all things COVID, Dr Anthony Fauci, has been wrong at least as often as he has been right, with a predictive value of a coin flip. Yet any scientific utterance from him is treated in the media as a scientific law, on par with gravity, as long he speaks convenient science.

Our country has lost confidence in the election process. It's clear that our system needs an overhaul, and it's not too soon to start thinking about ways to prevent 2020's disastrous outcome. The following proposal, which optimizes transparency, would restore voter confidence in our election process. Confidence through Redundancy Designers working on data-processing systems for satellites where physical repairs are difficult use triple-modular redundancy, which triples the hardware units processing each piece of data. "Voter" hardware would look at each result and accept a result only if it achieved two or more matches. Accounting's double-entry system is based on a similar concept

Watch this report from CNN, hosted by Lou Dobbs in his pre-FBN career, and reported by Kitty Pilgrim, who was always, in my view, a straight shooter. The report raises the question: why should U.S. elections be subject to manipulation by a foreign country, Venezuela, a country that is totally hostile? The video is four and a half minutes long, and the picture quality is not good, but it is compelling television in light of claims being made now about Dominion and Smartmatic.

Yet they are worth revisiting in this turbulent era today. Like many of us, Solzhenitsyn had been de facto silenced by the Western media and denounced as a nut for recounting the true history of the Bolshevik Revolution and its bloody aftermath ase well as making warnings to the West.

It has distracted attention from issues around the legitimacy of voting procedures in several key states, and guaranteed the Electoral College vote just before 4 AM that ratified Joe Biden’s and Kamala Harris’s inauguration as president and vice president. Applying the classic legal question “cui bono?” (“who benefits?”), it is clear that Democrats, anti-Trump establishment Republicans, the leftist media, and TDS sufferers all are victorious.
