Hindu groups in the US have expressed outrage at a morphed photo of the Hindu goddess Durga with Kamala Harris’s face, after it was shared online by the vice presidential candidate’s niece. Meena Harris, who has been very active on social media with support for her aunt Kamala for the upcoming election, said in a tweet which has now been deleted: “I am speechless, other than to say that the first day of Navratri was LIT.” (Snip) Meena’s image had Kamala Harris’s face photoshopped onto Durga’s body, while the face of her lion had been replaced by the Democrat presidential

They do have a tendency to burn women alive though.

They don't mention that the same doctored image has Biden's face on a lion (now that's a stretch) that Durga is riding and Trump's face on a demon being killed by the Harris-faced Durga. I guess, somehow it's no big deal to portray Harris as murdering the President or to show the President as a demon. That's just standard fare these days...

At first glance, I thought the headline said ‘photoshopped as godless’. Maybe I was right.

Only the elitists among Indians support her, for the usual reasons.
#3’s response is leftist style; hurl something without bothering with the truth. The practice of sati was self chosen by women to avoid being captured my Muslim invaders(guess why). It devolved into regional practices were men used it to control women (horrible and condemnable), but it was a minuscule percentage compared to the overall context. This attribution is like associating witch burning as a core element of the Christian faith. Please seek the truth before posting.

"Bride burning is a form of domestic violence practiced in countries located on or around the Indian subcontinent. A category of dowry death, bride-burning occurs when a young woman is murdered by her husband or his family for her family's refusal to pay additional dowry. The wife is typically doused with kerosene, gasoline, or other flammable liquid, and set alight, leading to death by fire.[1][2] Kerosene is often used as the cooking fuel for dangerous small petrol stoves, so it allows the claim that the crime was an accident. It is most common in India and has been a major problem there since at least 1993.[3]
This crime has been treated as culpable homicide and, if proven, is usually accordingly punished by up to lifelong imprisonment or death.[1] Bride burning has been recognized as an important problem in India,[4] accounting for around 2500 deaths per year in the country.[4] In 1995, Time Magazine reported that dowry deaths in India increased from around 400 a year in the early 1980s to around 5800 a year by the middle of the 1990s.[5] A year later, CNN ran a story saying that every year police receive more than 2500 reports of bride burning.[6] According to Indian National Crime Record Bureau, there were 1948 convictions and 3876 acquittals in dowry death cases in 2008.[7]"

Honestly, I never knew anything about Kamala's religious background.
From distractify.com
“I grew up going to a Black Baptist Church and a Hindu temple,” she told the Los Angeles Times. Kamala now considers herself a Black Baptist.

Hundreds of thousands of additional votes for Trump from the Hindu population. No big deal as most were going to vote for Trump anyway

Why is this discussion misdirected towards the horrible practice that I have acknowledged? (And this is socially and legally disowned) What does this have to do with Kamala? And are we really going to use cnn as a legitimate source? Is that convenient when you want to criticize Hindus? Refocus on the point of discussion and don’t try to show how little you know about the worlds oldest religion and it’s contributions to the well being of all humans

my Cultural Anthropology professor explained a Hindu procedure or ritual, where when the husband died, he was placed on a funeral pyre, and as his body burned, the wife would use a stick to poke three holes in his head for some reason I don't remember, and then she would throw herself onto the funeral pyre.
All in all, sort of interesting.

Like Uncle Joe is pandering for votes, suddenly Kamala is religious for votes.
Still asking if her mother became a Canadian citizen when they lived there. You know, when she was suppose to be bused to school.
